Thunder Rosa was front row at the CMLL show yesterday, and they seem to be building to an angle where she has a match with Stephanie Vaquer, the CMLL women's champion.

Tiffy killed poor Zelina with that moonsault, landed right on her chest with her knees. Even the ref had that "oh shit" look on her face. -

I always thought he was fine in the ring, the turn off for me was his heel gimmick was full of such unearned smugness it became go-away heat. Dude was beat by everyone but the beer vendor and would talk shit on social media like he was Roman Reigns. It worked much better when he first showed up to NXT this go around and was bullying the noobs before he fell into the team wth Bron. -
Bryan getting to live his dream of working a match with Blue Panther in Arena Mexico is the wholesome story of the year.

Once again Dynamite is coming in hot with Mox-Dax starting things off.

Its funny how he left because he wanted to wrestle more, but hasn't done much if anything since dropping the AAA Latin American title a few months back.

NXT was a good show with a fun main event. Who could have ever expected Baron Corbin would be beloved by the NXT crowd to the point they went nuts for him winning a title. -
TK coming off much nicer than Vince goes a long way to explain why he doesn't get the reaction to the things AEW does that other promotions would. Every wrestling promoter (or at least the ones worth a damn) looks after themselves first, but there's something to be said for not acting cartoonishly evil at every opportunity that makes people give him the benefit of the doubt.
-
I would suppose the difference is WWE was quite open about their goal being to squash every other company in the world and TK is always talking about pro wrestling being one big happy family. As stated, NJ's problems have been due to their inability to trust the younger generation, if they had been pushing those guys properly it could have softened the blow of losing White/Ospreay/Okada a little. It's not TK's fault that Gedo has been booking on a treadmill for years now. CMLL will be fine as well, the Lutteroth family owns all the buildings they run and the promotion basically runs itself and the only thing that would cause trouble is if the family suddenly decided they didn't want to run a wrestling company anymore.

I don't know about him having an ego (although I'd argue he'd be justified in having one considering what he's done for the company), it's sort of become a custom for a top guy leaving New Japan to be part of an angle putting over the folks positioned to take their place.

Becky stepping back with a drink in her hand while two other people have a fight she partially instigated is the most Irish thing she's ever done. -

It was a good promo, but him ranting about arrogant entitled pricks getting away with it sure hits differently after the last week or so. -

Re: the thread title.... to paraphrase the late great Dennis Green, Shanahan is what we thought he was, and he let 'em off the hook! -
Even if Herb had eschewed the baby oil, hookers, and blow I don't think there was much chance of his UWF succeeding. I suppose their best possible outcome would have been that era's TNA: low cost content for a TV channel and a place for people to go who left WCW/WWF to decompress and get some work.

Just finished this, and holy shit this match. Quite the shift from Okada's last match to Ospreay going out on his shield and having a Terry Funk-eqsue goodbye promo afterward.
-
I would assume that's why he hasn't been jobbing on the way out, there's good reason to believe he'll be back for a match or two signing with AEW that he wouldn't be if he went to WWE.

I get the impression Rossy couldn't come to grips with not being 100% in charge after Bushiroad took over. It seems that they just reached the end of their rope with him.

I remember at the time watching it and her looking more like someone who just had a loved one pass thinking that it seemed kind of melodramatic for just a retirement, albeit a forced one. Now I wonder if she found out the gory details (who wants to know about a parent's normal sex life let alone Vince's?) and just had to come face to face with just how big of a piece of shit her father is? I would have to believe that would rattle someone to the core.

This is going to make me sound flippant about this, so I want to stress I'm not trying to be, but I'm almost surprised took this long for something like this to happen since he seemed to be sounding more and more unhinged over the years.

Interesting exchange on the WO Radio show tonight. Garrett read a question from the mailbag about Stardom folks not being happy about TK's tweet seemingly celebrating Rossy getting fired and how it might affect their relationship with their business partners, and Dave's reply was basically New Japan wasn't mad about it (with a laugh).

Big Bob vs Big Bronson is going to be some meat slapping fun on Raw next week.

Not to mention being out for over a year because his back exploded.

I wonder how much Punk getting hurt affected plans. Clearly the idea before the Rumble was Roman/Cody and Seth/Punk, but then he turns his tricep into crab meat and all of a sudden Cody is saying Finishing The Story isn't that big a deal anymore. Slotting Seth with Cody an Rock/Roman gives them two solid main events again, and makes the most sense business wise. Plus it has been stated in the reports since Raw that they expected fan backlash but not the fans heeling on Rock at the level they did which makes me think this was the (possibly panicked) backup plan. The big difference now is when faced by the fans rejecting the plan, instead of plowing forward like Vince they actually did a pivot that ended up better for almost everyone involved (Seth still a bitch...).

AEW TV (02/07 - 02/10) Here she come now saying Mone Mone

I was happy to see Big Bill turn his life around after he had that OD or whatever at that one indy show. The fact that he's done that *and* has had a career resurgence has been great to watch -

I'm sure he's going to load the show since it will be getting lots of attention, but the announcement was all about telling the fans Mone is coming without flat out saying it. Interestingly, New Japan is confident they'll still be able to use her in the future so she apparently got one of those "work Japan when you want to" deals.
