So just to show there's no hard feelings over the Stephanie Vaquer deal, Willow just won the CMLL women's title on the New Japan Strong show tonight.

and yes I realized after the fact I called her by her WWE name twice, but fuck it I own my mistakes. -

There was an obnoxious Celtics fan in the crowd (shocking, I know) cheering Sasha, and the NYC area crowd did what they do when that happens. Stephanie absolutely opened a lot of eyes and got herself over, but the crowd turning on Sasha was an indirect result of one douche in the crowd. -

Rush has apparently been one of the most vocal defenders so I am not surprised she didn't want to work in the same company as him. As far as CMLL, they do have contracts (mainly to keep their people away from AAA) but they usually will let someone out of a deal if they are signing a deal outside of Mexico. They tend to prefer doing business on the way out if someone is leaving but it's not a deal breaker if someone just wants to bounce. NJPW on the other hand is not happy they were promoting a match for months only to have her leave a week before the show with practically zero notice. I would suspect CMLL having the match to fill the vacant title on a NJPW show was their attempt at a make-good for blowing up one of their matches. -

NXT believes in Joe Hendry! -
The end of Roxanne/Lola was kinda screwed up but in a way that actually made it look more like a real fight.

Obi Femi tossing dudes around at a level not seen since Brock debuted.

To be fair to Jericho, he did help make Sammy a star until he kept fucking it up for himself. The rest of his run has been everything the Learning Tree gimmick is lampshading, so I guess he thinks its some great meta concept. Also the greatest testament to Jeff Jarrett's brilliance is how he got AEW fans in 2024 to rally behind him to beat Hangman. That match was just a master class in working, not the MOVEZ definition of working a lot of people use, but the ability to get a crowd emotionally invested in what you are doing. I know the whole Punk experience probably soured a lot of folks in AEW on taking advice from the veterans, but I hope some of them are taking the opportunity to learn from a true GOAT (it likely helps that by all accounts Double J seems to be a nice guy and not a grumpy asshole).

Tweener Hangman has some interesting potential.

They would do marathon tapings for like Superstars and Challenge, but they rarely did title changes on TV in those days so it had little risk of harm. Them 5 hour shows of 99% squash matches must have been brutal to sit thru though.

I figured it was something serious for everyone to be so tight lipped about why she was away, but holy shit.

I don't go on the Twitters anymore thanks to Daddy Elon, I didn't realize they were doing an angle where Brooks Jensen is apparently an alcoholic who's life is spiraling out of control. Interesting choice.

My favorite "WCW tapes stuff way in advance" story was when the Freebirds lost the tag titles to the Steiners about a week before Wrestle War where they won them from Doom, giving them a title reign of -7 days.

As much as he's rumored to have spent on Mercedes' deal it would kind of be silly not to imo. Honestly, considering how it was a running joke how quickly she lost titles in WWE I don't think she would have an issue putting Britt over.
