So that Philly show has Snuka teaming with Arnold Skaaland vs Muraco and Captain Lou. That seemed like an odd pairing, so I looked on Graham's site and saw that he was a sub for Buddy Rogers and was so in a series of matches around the circuit. Were they really expecting Buddy to wrestle at that point in time? I will say Arnold looked pretty good for a 58 year old who had been retired for several years by then.

Watching the new Philly show from 83 in the Old School section and the opening has Gorilla looking like an extra from the Godfather with his shirt half unbuttoned.

I think the flak comes from him being another case of WWE pushing a green guy before they're really ready for it because he's a big guy. He was just starting to find a groove in NXT when he got called up and he's just been kind of aimlessly going from program to program while the announcers gush over him. It doesn't help that his matches have been largely bad when he's not doing big guy vs little guy stuff with Kalisto.

I mean, I wouldn't watch a whole card where there was a Joey Ryan type in every match, but I don't see how having him on a show is the ruination of the wrestling business. If you guys catch the vapors this bad over Joey's antics I'd hate to see if any of you ever watch a Danshoku Dino match.

I would think it gets him booked on shows and sells merch. He seems to be a smart enough guy that he would stop doing it if it was actively hurting his earning potential. Ya'll are cracking me up acting like goofy comedy wrestlers/spots are a thing that only started in the 2000's or so.

Bill Watts would have sent him to Memphis where he would have got a run as a top star.

I wonder, how do wrestlers justify getting pissed at Enzo for bringing his boys backstage and taking photos but doing shoot interviews airing their dirty laundry is fine? If Enzo charged his friends $20 per photo would that make it okay?

"You can't criticize unless you've done it" really is the weakest though. Not to mention he's clearly never seen a pic of Dave, Vince would push a guy built like him the exact same way Baron has been.

She's starting to get worrisome from the standpoint of hurting other people. The Bayley injury was inexcusable, even if you say the initial spot was just a shit happens moment, there's no way they should have done the chickenwing slam spot knowing she was hurt. Then this week she nearly decapitated Dana by nailing her so close to the ropes that her head ping ponged off them.

God knows the last 8 months have seemed like the Sports Entertainment Administration.

That probably didn't happen much for guys his size on the main roster.

I'd cast a so-bad-it's-good vote for Paul Orndorff's "He's Wonderful" from WCW.

I just love that Bray Wyatt was trying to be the voice of reason between Gotch and Hunico. I hope he was using his gimmick voice when he did it.

Honestly, other than the entrance, there's nothing Enzo brings to the table. I'd rather watch 100 Gotch matches than one Enzo match. However Enzo sells merch to kids and Gotch never will in a million years (in WWE anyway) so if I'm running the company it's Enzo all day. Having said that, it's not hard to see if his real personality is even a tenth of what's on TV it's no wonder he's rubbing everyone the wrong way.

So Disney announced they are buying BAMTech (they previously had a 33% share) and will be launching their own OTT app for all things Disney and ESPN to the point they announce all their movies will be leaving Netflix by 2019. I wonder if this will have any effect on WWE since the network runs off this platform as well.

Andre's Japan theme (which the Machines used in the WWF I think) was great since it was like the theme to a lost Godzilla movie. Pomp and Circumstance for Savage is 1a-1b for me with Badstreet USA in terms of perfect wrestler/music synergy. To this day when I go to a graduation ceremony I fight the urge to break into the Macho Man voice. Can't deny that Real American might be the best in house theme ever created, I can't imagine an alternate universe where it was the theme of the US Express as intended. I wasn't really ever a little Hulkamaniac but it's hard to not get pumped when you hear that theme play. Also can't forget Spartan X. I remember my first exposure to Japanese wrestling watching AJPW in the mid 90s hearing the crowd clapping along chanting MI-SA-WA and thinking "holy shit, this guy must be a big deal".

An internet acquaintance of mine has the best phrase for any and all Twitter discussions: The Discourse is Shit.

Enzo's been getting squashed nearly every week with little to no offense, it certainly appears they've made their minds up about him and are just using him to get over Cass before cutting him. I wonder if the day does come and the axe falls, will he stick around in wrestling or go with his other interests!

They turned on Jordan too, but that seemed like the intent since they had him face a "local competitor" as the WWE calls enhancement talent.
-
Figured it was time for a new weekly TV topic. Raw tonight has the next step in having every combination of the SS main event paired off somehow before the show, plus probably the next step in the Jason Jordan-Angle saga.

I don't buy that Hulk had any interest in actually going back to WWE at that point, he was just building leverage to get WCW to pay him more money. Don't forget Eric was such a huge Hulkamaniac there's no way he's letting him leave.

I'm thinking we're going to benefit from WWE's cost cutting as it seems they are ramping up the classic content being added the more they cut back on original programming. If they want to keep raising the number in their "now has X hours of programming on demand!" brag, classic content dumps are going to be the fastest way to do that.

I mean, it does sound cold as hell but it's not WWE's job to save Paige. Plus who's to say they haven't tried to reach out and she blew them off? There's a reason that cutting ties with someone who refuses help ends up being the best option sometimes.

I'm interested in how much WCCW they were able to salvage, there's already way more available than I was expecting from the early days. Either it wasn't in as bad a shape as we heard or WWE's digital team are wizards.
