To GFW's credit (that's something I never thought I'd type), they were fully aware this was going to happen and only signed him to a short term contract when he came back.

I really liked the match, but Tessa deserved better than to be a first round out. It's funny how they have such a hard on for the Horsewomen as a stable name and Tessa god damned Blanchard is right there, but maybe when they finally turn either Sasha or Bayley heel she can be their Barry.

Floyd did the boxing equivalent of carrying someone to a good match. He could have got Conor to gas even quicker and end it, but he gave the people who spent $99.99 their money's worth and the UFC stans can brag about their boy holding his own with one of the all time greats. Once he knew Conor had nothing left he increased the pressure until the ref could stop it without having to knock him down/out. Everyone came out looking as good as they could and now Conor has a big pile of fuck you money to drive Dana crazy with.

Mania does sell itself to a degree, and Roman does deserve credit since among Mania type crowds he has Floyd Maywether heat where people will spend ridiculous money to see him get beat (and then get mad when he wins, rinse, repeat). I can see shooting the load for one big match on a B show to improve the house, but doing two on one show seems like a waste IMO.

Every year there's stories of tickets not being sold out up until the last few days of the show, partly due to the giant capacities of the stadiums they run and partly due to them not always having the hottest card. Brock-Braun seems like the hottest program they could run and Cena-Roman has a dream match aura that both could be used to anchor a WM but instead they're being used to headline a B level show. I realize WWE is past the PPV mentality but that doesn't seem the ideal way to maximize your booking options.
-
Because theoretically you want to save your biggest matches for the biggest show, and they're running out of matches that could fill up the mega stadiums they run in.
-
Cena calling out Roman for momentarily losing his train of thought "it's called a promo, you have to do it if you want to be the big guy" was so HHH-like it hurt. I get they want to establish Cena as the face in this program but he really came off as a dickhead in that segment more than anything.
-
It was great that Cena pulled out the "I don't bury people, the fans decide" against the guy the fans have been pushing back on for years.
-
Cena and Roman GETTIN REAL during the contract signing. Kinda weird having Roman essentially redoing Miz's promo from the Wrestlemania build, Cena demolishing him making new believers in the Political Hit Theory.
-
I just always assumed that it was just Russo's way of being inside-y and clever (which is to say not at all) since "test" is the bodybuilding/wrestling term for artificial testosterone IE: steroids.

The Too Sweet gesture dates back to North Carolina State using that since their teams are called the Wolfpack prior to anyone who used it in wrestling, so WWE really wouldn't have a claim on that. The Suck It stuff you would think is different since they sold a billion DX Suck It shirts back in the day.

Marti Belle vs Rachel Evers supposedly was so bad that the call was made to change the finish to put Rachel over. The editors must have really earned their money because nothing seemed outrageously horrible based on what aired. Also I understand why everyone was hyped about Jazzy at the tapings, she's like the love child of Braun Strowman and Lady Maxine. Another thing that was clear watching this is the "WWE higher ups didn't like the look of most of the women" is probably more based on half the participants being covered in tattoos more than them not having the typical WWE Barbie look.

This all makes me wonder how NJPW feels about WWE using Bullet Club inspired merch for Finn Balor.

The first four episodes of the Mae Young Classic are up.

Pretty much, the mask is the prize. Plus it's a way to get heat when you're disrespecting someone by tearing up the mask.
-
This is an odd dynamic in the main event since Wagner is ostensibly the heel but he's also the legend fans don't want to see lose.
-
I think Sexy Star went in thinking shit was going to go down since everyone is upset at her and Rosemary was just caught in the crossfire.
-
Sexy Star and Lady Shani were apparently shooting in the womens' match and Sexy hurt Rosemary with the finishing armbar.
-
AAA puts their TV show up on YouTube weekly too. Also the show hasn't been too bad so far. Certainly going better than their US PPV disaster a few years ago.
-
Now that Cornette works for GFW, no one better tell him they partner with a company that does man/woman/exoticio/mini 8 person tag matches.
-
The semi main will probably be a fun spotfest, the Pagano/Mesias match will be a violent brawl if that's something you're into. The women could be fun since Sexy Star is pretty much luchadora Roman Reigns at this point. They're doing the finals of Llave de Gloria now and it's pretty fun, it's the lucha equivalent to a Young Lions match in NJPW.
-
Full card per the WO site if anyone wants to check it out: Llave de Gloria final Mascara de Bronce & Big Mami & Dinastia & Estrella Divina vs. Hernandez & Hiedra & Mini Psycho Clown & Mamba Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria defend AAA tag titles against DJZ & Andrew Everett, Drago & Aerostar and Monsther Clown & Murder Clown Sexy Star vs. Lady Shani vs. Rosemary vs. Ayako Hamada for AAA Reina de Reinas title Pagano vs. Mesias street fight Torneo TripleMania 25 lumberjack match with La Parka, Bengala, Argenis, Australian Suicide, Faby Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata, Averno, Chessman, Super Fly, Bobby Lashley, Moose, Jeff Jarrett, Scorpio Jr., Zumbido, Decnis, Psicosis (not the original), Maniaco, Histeira, Joe Lider, Halloween, Mr. Aguila, Crazy Boy, Nino Hamburguesa, Lanzeloth, Intocable, Blue Demon Jr., Pirata Morgan, Heavy Metal, Villano IV and a surprise final participant Johnny Mundo defends AAA Mega heavyweight, AAA cruiserweight and Latin American heavyweight titles against El Hijo del Fantasma and El Texano Jr. in a ladder match Psycho Clown vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. mask vs. mask
-
I don't think it was as much selling with Brock as it was when Brock was legit beating the shit out of people for a while until he remembered it's a work.
-
A local AAA promoter leaked a flyer advertising Wagner's first appearance without the mask, and it wouldn't be unheard of for AAA to fuck up like this so we'll see.
-
AAA has partnered with Twitch to offer Triplemania live 8/26 at 8pm est. There's two official channels, the main feed in Spanish (LuchaLibreAAA) and a second one with English commentary (luchalibreaaa_en). Just a heads up for anyone who wants to watch the show since Dr. Wagner vs Psycho Clown should be a pretty big event.
