I mean, you're not wrong, but if losing the music is the price to pay to have a place I can watch it without worrying about some rando's YouTube account getting nuked then I can live with that. I mean, the WCCW stuff isn't any less awesome for not being able to hear Tom Sawyer or Stranglehold.

To be fair, that's what every promoter used to do, I doubt Vince paid to use "Sirius" for Ricky Steamboat back in the day, or that Crockett paid ZZ Top for "Sharp Dressed Man".

Rights issues. WCW likely paid a lot to the Jimi Hendrix estate for the rights for that and it's not worth it to WWE to pay for what to them is archival content.

Considering Dave's dad went from being a relatively healthy old man to on death's door in a few weeks time, I think it's possible that both WWE changed some ideas and maybe Dave wasn't on his A game. I'm not sure why it's apparently becoming hard to believe that Vince changes direction, since that's been his MO on practically everything not Roman Reigns for the last 10-15 years.

I got the impression Edge is on a legends deal and Christian was riding out his last regular contract.

A group of fans using PETA-like tactics to protest would be amazing, REIGNS IS MURDER!

I mean, considering most people in WWE (especially those that came up through their system and never worked anywhere else) are in constant fear of losing their jobs I could see Braun being legit scared of being told on. Part of the training in the PC seems to drill it into everyone's heads that they're nothing without WWE.

I've met Karen at a rinky dink TNA houseshow back when she was with Kurt, she's definitely a no-fucks-given take no shit personality. You can choose to believe the groveling part or not, but it seems 100% accurate from her side.

Christian also posted pics of his wrestling boots on Twitter wondering if they still fit, so he might be contemplating a comeback.

Anyone else having problems with the 1980 MSG show? It keeps randomly shutting off and sending me back to the previous menu on my PS4. It's the only thing I've really had an issue with.

Apologies if this is too much of the Observer to post at once, but this story deserves to be told in all its glory rather than paraphrased:

Mike Graham was something else on the old Roundtable shows from WWE 24/7. Literally everything that happened in wrestling was directly due to him to hear him tell it. It was funny to see all the other oldtimers looking at him like "you fucking believe this guy?".

There's something to be said for keeping the top titles special and doing the hot shot angles with the secondary titles. We hardly ever saw Hogan defend the title on TV, and when he did it made it seem like a big deal no matter what loaf he was put in there with. I feel the same way with Brock, yeah him being gone for months isn't great but when he is around you know shit's going down. They're even doing it with Jinder too. No matter how you feel about his push, it's going to be a big deal when he gets beat. Hotshotting all the titles is what made them all worthless in the 90s (hi Vinny Ru!), but doing it with one while keeping the others stable is okay in my book.

All the internal grumbling from the administration reminds me of a heel stable coming apart and lashing at the babyface announcer for asking what's wrong with the team.

I'm not sure there's anything out there that could be used to start a library. Memphis rights are a mess (and even if they weren't WWE would get first dibs via Lawler), the only Portland stuff I've seen was from the stash Buddy kept in his garage and not the greatest VQ. Those are the only two I can think of that would be worth purchasing.

More WCCW shows and a Spectrum Old School show have popped up so far today.

Dave talking about Brody's death the other day reminded me of how there's so many questions that never got (or never will be) answered about it, like why did Jose do it? The only thing that ever gets mentioned was that Brody was often a pain in the ass to do business with but he was always like that, so it's not like it's something to suddenly murder over. Plus Dave mentioned they were often travel buddies up to a few days before the murder. That's some cold shit when you think about it. How much did Carlos Colon know? Again it seems that the consensus is that Jose was the only one who knew what was going to happen beforehand, but the company went into full coverup mode immediately. I can see giving him a pass for the show that night with the whole "the show must go on" mentality, but it sure seemed like they already decided how things would play out. Was it even worth it? All the covering up, and it ended up killing the business anyway. Not only was it a black eye to the fans, they couldn't pull the level of talent they had before so everything dropped. It's not like 90s AWA levels, but it's kind of sad watching the weekly WWC show in a half filled gym when this is the same promotion that used to draw big crowds to baseball stadiums.

I thought Manny had some kind of terminal illness years ago, but it appears he's made a recovery of Superstar Billy proportions.

To be fair, after some early shakeups there was really no one leading the department that includes the Network for a while. Once they had someone actually running the ship, we started seeing monthly classic content dumps.

The idea of a 4 way at SummerSlam normally wouldn't be appealing, but I'm practically giddy at the thought of the Collision of the Hosses.

So yeah, this game's really great. If you haven't done so already you should pick this up if you have Steam. I love the little details like bloodstains on the mat if a bleeding wrestler gets knocked down, and they made the create a wrestler mode even more detailed which I didn't think was possible. The only knock so far I have is that the manual leaves out information that isn't intuitive like how your downloaded CAWs get put into a retired wrestler category and need to be moved to an active federation to be playable. There's nothing that tells you that, either you find it accidentally or google how to do it. It's not hard to figure out for Fire Pro veterans, but it's an unnecessary barrier for new fans of the series.

Anything post 1988 is part of the IWCCW library the Savoldis own and I haven't heard of them either being approached to sell or inquiring about selling. You'd think it would be a no brainer, but maybe there's just no interest on WWE's part. The real fun would be if they ever hammer out the Memphis rights, since I think the real "finale" of WCCW would be the angle where the USWA took over.
