I'm wondering how much say ROH has in their arrangement with New Japan and how that affects opinions on their booking. Dave stated Adam Cole and Adam Page being in the Bullet Club were NJ calls, and it seems ROH guys seldom go over in interpromotional matches unless it's someone like Gedo doing the job. ROH's big shows for the last year or so have basically been promoted as "Come see the stars of New Japan (and some guys from ROH too if you want)" and it hasn't really helped matters when it comes to making new stars.

Between this and the stuff JTG mentioned in his book(s), it seems like Cena might be quite the down-low asshole.

Going through 1986 Memphis TV and Downtown Bruno just showed up. It's hilarious to hear him talk about growing up on the mean streets of downtown Pittsburgh when his mom was my Sunday school teacher out in the suburbs.

I'm wondering what lit the fire under CMLL after years of openly not giving even the semblance of a shit outside of Anniversary main events. It couldn't have been anything AAA has done, since the wheels have come off that train a while ago.

I think it's just a full-circle thing. Seems like California was the hot place in the late 50s-60 then it seemed to fall off the map. Southern territories dominated the 70s into the 80s until the WWF took over, and then in the 90s the northeast became the next hotbed.

Camp WWE seems like someone saw South Park and thought all the humor was just seeing little kids say bad words.

It doesn't make sense for Cabana to refuse to job considering the big show-ending angle makes more sense if the Bullet Club "ruined" things by having a non finish in a PPV main event (which has more impact in a place like ROH where that doesn't happen often).

Anyone else watching the War Games collection? I find myself liking the early 90s ones way more than I remembered at the time. Road Warriors/Midnights/Dr. Death vs Freebirds (Gordy/Hayes/Garvin) and the Samoan Swat Team from 1989 is a great one as well.

I don't think anyone doubted Roman himself, just that the booking was doing him no favors for someone they wanted to be the guy. They finally figured it out, and lo and behold people responded. The key will be if they can keep it up or will AJ end up being Edge to Roman's Cena.

All I know is the clips I've see with adult Vince pining for kid John Cena come off creepy as fuck to me.

Hogan was originally part of it, the show was delayed due to having to edit it out.

Classic content in that case only meant the early Smackdowns they uploaded.

Steph gets more heel heat than anyone on the roster.

Sucks that he's the first thing I think of now when someone hits the ropes awkwardly.

Yeah it's funny for Arn to pull the "kids today are soft" card considering the other two guys at the table with him are a lifelong functioning alcoholic and the other was a cokehead until he found Jesus. I know it's a chicken and egg argument if the schedule caused the lifestyle, but how else were guys in the 80s supposed to handle the wear and tear?

They don't have a problem with Benoit stuff, if I'm remembering right Eddie badly dislocated his elbow doing a frog splash on that show.

So I'm watching 1986 Memphis TV on YouTube, and around October they bring in Sputnik Monroe in to introduce his son Bubba to the territory. He's obviously not the greatest worker but he's not Erik Watts-ing it out there either. Within a couple weeks, he's losing in 25 seconds to Jerry Lawler. With wrestling being wrestling, I figure there has to be a story behind that one.

As a long time fighting game fan, I love that Cesaro's new gimmick is basically Urien from Street Fighter III:

I wouldn't go as far as to blame WWE for her death, but it really shouldn't be undersold how shitty it was for Hunter to be creeping around behind her back with the boss's daughter no matter what other emotional baggage she might have had. Plus it was almost like no one in the company could fathom why she might not take the news well and were surprised at her reaction.

It seems like her whole life even before wrestling was a slow motion train wreck. I believe she mentioned in her book there was some kind of abuse in her childhood and her going into bodybuilding and kind of implied that her getting so jacked up and muscular was more or less her overcompensating for that. Then after becoming a star in wrestling as a giant Amazon woman who beat up men, they end up putting her in goofy romance angles with Mark Henry and have her get her face reshaped to look more feminine. Of course the breakup with HHH and everything seemed to go downhill from there.

If he's going heel or even tweener, yes it's great. If he's staying babyface (and the stubbornness of the last two years suggest he probably is) then it's stupid since it's just actively pissing off the most vocal portion of your fanbase and working against the supposed goal of making him the #1 good guy.
