Does Lucy the dog count as a McMahon?

The invisible camera.

But they aired after Survivor Series. One would think that if they were all-in on changing the name they could have adjusted.

That is the thought I had, as well. However, I would rather not judge someone's actions in a moment like that because I have no idea what I would do, either. It's a traumatic event. Hopefully you wouldn't do something as drastic as breaking kayfabe.

I want to say it was the 1st Floyd Patterson vs. Ingemar Johansson fight in 1959. Wow, that long ago huh? I wonder if those events included the entire card, I mean you wouldn't have expected JUST Ali-Frazier going to MSG on 3/8/1971 so why would only their fight be shown on the closed circuit broadcast. Sure the bout went 15 rounds and over an hour, but what if it turned into Tyson-Spinks? Come to think of it, why the hell aren't entire boxing card rundowns as memorable as the main attraction? OE: UGH! Been trying to find some sort of reference site that could tell me what other boxing matches, if any, went on at The Garden on 3/8/1971 besides Ali-Frazier I...if only there was a Graham Cawthon for boxing cards! Seriously, I refuse to believe MSG or the promoters of that iconic bout would have put all their eggs in the "this is going the distance" basket and not have a full card of 2 or more matches for the world wide audiences to enjoy that night. I mean if it turned out to be a 2 minute first round knockout or TKO, that could have been as devastating to The Sweet Science as any number of reasons for the decline of boxing in the last 30 or so years. That's just silly. It's a fight. It can be over in one punch. People know that going in. It may not be as revered as it is today, but to suggest it would have been "devastating" or "crippling" shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the sport.

Jesus fuck. The guy's completely unconscious, bleeding from an eyeball, and not only do they just keep going they're doing spots practically on top of him. Priorities.

WCW had apparently come up with gimmick names for Hall and Nash before settling on their real names. Does anyone know what the proposed gimmick names were?

I liked the way they teased it was Perfect throughout the episode and even only had Sid's hair showing from the rear at the start of the promo. Played the hand they were dealt as best they could.

Well, today's news only adds to that. Did Meltz know something?? "Nemtsov was originally going to get a big babyface push against Putin but....plans changed."

I remember seeing Atlas at a small house show earlier in the summer under his own name. He got a decent reaction, considering it wasn't exactly his backyard and he'd been gone from TV for so long. Have to scratch my head at how a gimmick like that goes beyond the initial pitch.

This was also the debut of the "What's your name? Doesn't matter." that morphed into the giant "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!"

I really enjoyed this segment. Rock as usual is gold on the mic. Austin driving the monster truck doesn't bother me, it fits in with his blue-collar redneck character and it's not like they haven't built up to it with the beer truck, the zamboni and even going back to 97 with the pick-up that D-Lo got backdropped on to. It works, the crowd loves it, don't see an issue.

The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread

surely his 35 year career warrants more than a 140 character autobiography...? I'm picturing an avalanche of Norm MacDonald style tweets. -
I loved Bob Holly's "Big Shot" phase. The "super heavyweight" portion with him bringing the scale out was the icing on the cake.

Ya think? MMA isn't even Meltzer's strong point.

I thought Mike Graham was WCW's "finish guy"?
-
He instituted a dress code in WCW. That's about the extent of his qualifications to take the VP Talent role.

Get a dictionary. Is it an old wooden ship used in frontier times?

What in the hell is diversity?

Actually *this* is the revisionist history.

Name of worker: Bob Backlund Promotion (and year): WWF 1994 Link to promo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVEyE9F-fGQ Why you think it's great: Backlund is firing all cylinders here. Drunk with power after winning the title and still on a moral crusade. He convincingly portrays someone who has righted a 10+ year wrong and considers it validation for all his actions. This is zealot Backlund at his finest as he hits the highs and lows of the promo perfectly and shows how you can create something absolutely spellbinding despite being only 90 seconds.

Yeah just because there's one guy that can overrule him doesn't mean he has no power.

Fair play. I'll lean on "exception that proves the rule"
