  1. I forgot about this! That could be fun.
  2. Yeah, Hulk Hogan has showed up in WWE again & what he said was a lot worse than what Cornette said. Not that that excuses Cornette, mind you. I thought Hogan would be blackballed for life. I was shocked he came back.
  3. For me it's more the concern of being negatively labeled for being associated with something while the controversy lingers & is fresh in people's minds. Like, I immediately unfollowed Cornette on Twitter. I'm a nobody, but the last thing I want is to be lumped in with him, labeled a racist by association & having social media justice potentially negatively effect my real life if a complete stranger decides he has a bone to pick with Cornette followers or people that have Liked his Tweets or whatever. Overreaction? Yeah, for sure... but better safe than sorry. Same reason I don't want anything to do with WWE & Saudi Arabia when that stuff comes up. I imagine a lot of wrestlers in the next week or so, particularly the ones with a bone to pick toward Cornette, like Joey Ryan or Sonny Kiss, will make some comments. Austin Aries already has. So there's going to be a lot of mud slinging & I don't want to potentially get wrapped up in that. Because I tweet about wrestling... a lot.
  4. Same. I was also really looking forward to the PPV. Now I don't know if I'll feel guilty when watching it going forward or not. What a shit situation. Even removing Cornette, now there's the whole production/Lagana talking point in the back of my mind. I really enjoy some of the talent they're using, like Nick Aldis & Kamille.
  5. I'm really excited for both Jon Moxley Vs. Darby Allin and Rey Fenix Vs. Nick Jackson. Plus we're getting whatever Jericho's announcement is. Should be a fun show tonight. Elsewhere, in NXT, we get ReDragon against Revival, so that should also be good. Tonight will be great.
  6. I don't think HHH and I agree on who the "top people" would be. Like I don't care if someone like Bayley or The OC show up. Outside of someone like John Cena or Roman Reigns, does WWE even have any "top people" left in the company? Now if Bryan showed up, at least we could potentially get a good match out of it. So that could be cool.
  7. There's not enough vulgarity in my fucking vocabulary to convey my hatred for Seth Rollins. If WWE were able to get CM Punk back and then blew his return on a goddamn Seth Rollins match, that might be their biggest fuck up in the history of their goddamn company. Like ending The Undertaker's streak for no reason wouldn't even look that bad. Bringing back Brock Lesnar & having him lose his first match back wouldn't be anywhere close to that bad. It'd be worse than all the Mae Young or Katie Vick or dog suit bullshit WWE has ever done. I would rather watch a 3-hour RAW of nothing but Great Khali or Jackie Gayda matches than another fucking Seth Rollins main event with his bullshit pain face, "selling" & gymnastics routine. Fuck Seth Rollins.
  8. Well... Not really any defending that one. Probably the end of Cornette not just in NWA but in a modern wrestling landscape as a whole. Hope he's content with his podcasts & merch sales because... yeah, this ain't good.
  9. Saying Randy Orton lacks charisma is not an opinion, it's just factually incorrect. Look up the definition of charisma...
  10. Dude, seriously? We're going to pretend that Randy Orton doesn't have charisma now? C'mon, man... You can dislike him, not enjoy his character/booking or think that he's been treading water for awhile now but let's not be ridiculous. Statements like this are going to make people ignore anything you ever say.
  11. Personally, I just don't get excited for any match with Styles, Nakamura or Strong anymore. Let alone one match with all three. Styles feels like he's coasting. Nak hasn't given a shit since leaving Japan. Outside of maybe a match or two in NXT. And Strong just bores me to tears. The 3-way women's match could be interesting though. Just to see which direction they go. Shayna has been so dominant on NXT but it's a different story altogether on the main roster. Would like to see it somehow set up a Becky/Shayna 1v1 match. Shayna is starting to grow stagnant on NXT since she's ran through the entire roster & new challengers on the main roster would help her a lot. I know it won't happen but if WWE tried to shock the shit out of everyone & have Killian Dain win the NXT Title out of nowhere, I wouldn't be mad at that either.
  12. Jericho has been far and away the best part of AEW on TNT for me so far. He's been great during his segments on Dynamite.
  13. Randy Orton in AEW would have been interesting to me for a couple of reasons. Firstly, his obvious star power. He's like a 40 time world champion in WWE or some shit. Secondly, DDP is around in AEW. So they could do some sort of Diamond Cutter/RKO thing. And third, I wanted to see how much Orton towered over the majority of the AEW roster, despite not seeming huge in WWE. Like when Billy Gunn went to Impact. Sometimes it's easy to forget how big some of these fuckers are. The main reason is just that AEW needs more big name stars. Jericho was huge. Punk would have been great. Orton would have been great. Moxley was huge. But I still feel like they need more while they build up their guys like Cody, Darby, Luchasaurus, etc.
  14. The Kansas City Chiefs (6-4) Vs. Los Angeles Chargers (4-6) is the Monday Night Football game. It's a divisional game but it won't be anywhere near as huge as 49ers/Seahawks was. The best NBA game tonight is probably T-Wolves Vs. Jazz & that's not exactly a barn burner either. I'll personally be watching the Boston Celtics/Phoenix Suns game over RAW but I'm a Celtics fan & haven't cared about RAW for quite awhile. I don't think RAW has as much competition tonight as they've had lately. Obviously MNF will still get monster ratings because it always does but not like last week. There's not as strong of sports competition for WWE tonight. WWE has to worry more about biting their own hand than someone else biting it, to be honest. They're their own worst enemy.
  15. Kamille looks like a superstar. She's gotten over without even having to say a word or work a match. All she's done is not speak & take a clothesline & she's one of the most over people on the roster. I would be shocked to not see her wind up at a bigger promotion making more money. Assuming she wants to pursue wrestling to a larger degree, that is. Also, shout out to her Instagram because goddamn.
  16. Very much so. He was super overrated. One of my biggest pet peeves of his is when he would break the fourth wall in the name of making a joke at WWE or WCW's expense. It always came off as super cornball. I know ECW referenced them a lot & it was a big part of their counter culture stuff but it always came off as super lame on commentary. EDIT: Also want to point out that when I first got internet, I went by the name theECWfan1 because I was a mega mark. And back then I would defend anything & everything ECW but when trying to go back & watch it now, Joey Styles really annoys me.
  17. I can sum up my disdain for Mauro Ranallo fairly simply. He's guilty of the ultimate sin of being a professional wrestling commentator: he cares about getting himself over more than the talent. Why does he have a catch phrase? Why is he yelling? Why does he talk over the other commentators? Why is he making those ridiculous, over-the-top pop culture references? Because he's trying to get himself, not the other talent, over.
  18. I don't anticipate her hair staying blonde. Not in WWE. Green or pink maybe. WWE love wacky color & hair extensions. Kross would be a big pick up for any promotion. Curious what Tom Lawlor is going to do too but he's not exactly a spring chicken.
  19. I also don't think enough people ever talk about how RAW is on from 8pm to 11pm on a work night & people just have lives & shit to do. I know that WWE has always pretty much went to that hour in the night & other shows have had success on nights where people have to get up early in the morning. The thing is though, to me, if you're watching RAW & the shit sucks, it's a lot easier to be like "eh, whatever" & just crash out early. Especially if you have to get up at like 6am. That extra hour of sleep is more valuable than a mediocre additional hour of WWE, y'know? Like, in this current world we live in, outside of people that are marathoning & season of a show on something like Netflix, who is still dedicating a three hour block of their time to a show? Let alone every week. It's just too much of a time commitment. And unlike if you're watching a streaming service, it's all in one live block. I can't imagine too many people are interesting & sitting down to watch the show while it airs live. Sitting through all the of commercials. Imagine if people didn't have DVR. Yes, I used to do that for WCW Nitro. But that was fucking half my life ago & I was in high school without shit to do other than go to school. 17-18 year olds don't give a shit about WWE like I did back then. They're watching shit on YouTube, Twitch or one of the dozen paid streaming services.
  20. You should definitely check out his match with Cesaro. Not because it's good but just because of the spectacle of Cesaro getting that big sumbitch in the giant swing!
  21. And Mauro yells "Mama Mia!", the crowd chants "This is awesome!" or "Holy shit!" over & over... and outside of being used in future video packages, it's completely ignored & forgotten within a week.
  22. I thought that was the entire point of the attire change? Like in the match on AEW Dark with Sonny Kiss & Dustin Rhodes, the camera man even made it a point to get those shots, like it was old ECW or The Beautiful People in Impact/TNA. I thought it was on purpose. I think the idea is going to be that she's the librarian that goes wild or something to get away from the stricter Avalon. Like Miss Hancock in WCW or something. Also, I know the social climate has changed a lot in more recent years but sex appeal still matters in a body business like wrestling. It always will. I think we can talk about it. It still works for Scarlett Bordeaux. You can still draw money with sex appeal.
  23. I also really enjoyed this weeks episode. My biggest complaint is that I want the show to be an hour long. I dislike when it's over after forty minutes. That's at least two different weeks where I felt like it ended prematurely. Here's my scattered, rambling thoughts: Firstly, since I'll be more positive than negative as it pertains to NWA, let me get this out of the way. The roster is very small. The whole thing fits into one picture & that picture included the commentators, announcers & Billy Corgan. There's like twenty people. If you're a fan of them all, that's great. But when the roster is that small, a guy like Ken Anderson being around, whom I think brings nothing to the table, starts to stand out a lot more. Not in a good way. I generally feel the same way about Colt Cabana but honestly, thus far, he's not been too bad. Maybe a bit irksome but not the overbearing annoyance that he usually is for me. The women are not good. Thunder Rosa so far is at least intriguing & feels like a star. But she's going to have to start wrestling more & from what I seen of her in Lucha Underground, unless a lot has changed in a small time, she's not sure good. Allysin Kay is also not great & she's the champion. Marti Belle is downright bad. So they definitely need help with the women. I feel like, and I think I've said this before, but this is another example of companies feeling like they have to do a women's division now because WWE has put women on a bigger platform. The thing is though, WWE have the talent to do it. NWA does not. I still think AEW is a bit away as well & they're definitely higher up than NWA. But again, I think this is also an issue that stems from having a smaller roster. I like David Marquez a lot as an interviewer. He has a very authentic feel about him. I think that the commentary so far has been mostly fine too although Cornette maybe hamming it up a bit too much trying to get his "witty" one-liners in there. Reminds me more of like heel Jerry Lawler trying to tell jokes to an uninterested Jim Ross during Monday Night RAW in the 90's to me than anything, which is not a compliment. I'm a fan of Nick Aldis. I think he's a fine champion. I do think he's starting to get outshined by Kamille. She's just incredible looking - genuinely looks different & feels like a star. She carries herself really well. I'm a big fan of Tim Storm. When he talks you want to listen. As has been mentioned before - and it feels like this was very much on purpose - the promos of the talent is the strong suit of NWA so far. So it's interesting that Kamille has gotten over without having to say a single word so far. You have guys like Eddie Kingston cutting blistering promos & guys like Tim Storm cutting quiet, everyday man promos & Kamille just nods to get a reaction. That's pretty cool. I still think James Storm has a good look but I do think his character not talking about drinking beer hurts his gimmick some. Shout out to Trevor Murdoch's Bulldog finish in his short match. That looked great! I'm not sold on Eli Drake. But Ricky Starks has been eye opening. Homicide doesn't act like he even wants to be there. Aron Stevens seems to be having fun & getting some nice reactions but I don't know if you want to be playing for reactions like that, with crowd participation, in a 200 person studio. That can backfire quickly as just one loud fan can ruin an entire segment. The Question Mark I'm just going to try to have fun with. It's very corny & ridiculous but I was cracking myself up on Twitter talking about how the NWA athletic commission needs to step in & make sure that his ancient, secret martial arts strikes are regulatory before someone gets hurt. I know that Billy is talking about a big, bright future but honestly, I don't think this incarnation of NWA works as anything more than a weekly one hour YouTube show. Like this doesn't work on TV. It doesn't work on a bigger scale because it's too thin. I think getting people to pay for a PPV is a pretty big leap, to be honest. I enjoy it for what it is & it entertains me. It's fun, an easy watch & they have talent for sure but what are they going to try to build to? They have a women's title, tag titles, midcard title & world title with a roster of twenty people. And in the current landscape of professional wrestling with WWE (soaking up everyone for NXT & NXT UK) along with Impact, ROH, AEW & even MLW, it's not like there's a ton of free agents running around out there to liven things up. So I'm a bit concerned. Like how different is NWA if WWE just sign Kamille? I feel like they might be building to Eli Drake feuding with Nick Aldis for the NWA Title with Kamille turning on Aldis. But that doesn't explain what Tim Storm will be doing with it all. And now that they're starting to tease the inclusion of other people like Ken Anderson as well, I have no idea. Maybe Aldis is planning on starting a stable? Anderson, after he turns on Colt to win the midcard title. Kamille still with him. Eli Drake after beating down Tim Storm. So then it'd be Drake, Aldis, Anderson with Kamille against Storm, Cabana & who? And would there be another woman, like Allysin, to thwart Kamille on the outside?
  24. This was actually my favorite part of the show. They took a bunch of people & acts that I don't care about, like Marko Stunt & Shawn Spears, and used them in a way that made sense & served a purpose. So even the segments that I wasn't looking forward to turned out to be beneficial to the show. Nakazawa? Showed him backstage with Kenny while it showed Kenny not being cleared. Talked about him being friends with Kenny, briefly. That made him being Moxley's opponent make sense. Then Mox squashed him, so we didn't have to see a bunch of Nakazawa. Nak also threw down the oil, to show that he was serious for the bout because of what happened to Kenny. That's all good. Marko Stunt? He got his ass whipped. Took the Dark Order finish - which is the best thing about them. They did the post match stuff trying to recruit him as a hooded jobber. Sets up the return of Luchasaurus. He cleans house of all the geeks & looks like the real star. The whole thing, which used Marko Stunt & the Dark Order was a vessel to get over Luchasaurus, the real star. That's all good. The three way with Darby Allin, Shawn Spears & The Librarian. The only thing that we didn't get was Leva Bates ass shots. Shawn Spears got taken out early by Janella to set up them feuding. Leaving Darby to basically squash Avalon & show off his Coffin Drop finish again. And he got to accept Moxley's open challenge, making him look bad ass. That's all good. Dani Jordan, whom I had to Google to make sure it was who I thought it was, was inoffensive as she was just jobber fodder to get over Nyla's dominance. Gotta build her back up after losing the title match to Riho. This admittedly wasn't great but it had a clear purpose. And I do think Nyla is improving. If AEW can consistently have that "anything can happen" feel where even the segments you think you won't care about turn into something more? Then I'm definitely on board. That's how the show felt to me last night.
  25. He's been on AEW Dark & PPV.
