I remember a few years ago when people on this board were calling the Charlotte/Sasha HIAC match one of the greatest matches in WWE history. Not to mention all the talk last year about Becky Lynch being the next Stone Cold. I honestly think a lot of the fans overrate the women for political reasons. They're so desperate to be on the "right side of history" that they try to will the women's division into being epochal all-time great stuff even when it clearly isn't.

Paco Alonso himself owned the Los Ingobernables trademark, in the US at least. It's still listed under his name in the USPTO trademark database, so I don't know who holds it now. I would guess either CMLL or Sofia. Speaking of Paco, it's pretty striking how quickly CMLL turned into a clown show after he died. All the folks who insisted that the company was successful despite him rather than because of him aren't looking too good right now.

Speaking of FOX: I would love nothing more than for some particularly juicy Ukraine-related breaking news to drop on Tuesday morning and Stephanie being forced to comment on it.

With his size and wrestling style, I'd be surprised if Keith Lee lasted into his 40s.

[1994-01-22-WWF-Royal Rumble] Bret & Owen Hart vs The Quebecers
NintendoLogic replied to Loss's topic in January 1994
This is another pretty famous match that I saw for the first time only recently, and I was actually pretty shocked at how poorly executed the angle was. It started when Johnny Polo pulled down the middle rope for some reason instead of the top one, forcing Bret to do a tope to nowhere rather than being low-bridged. Once they got back in the ring, there was never a point when Bret had a clear shot to tag out. His best opportunity was after the Quebecers missed an assisted senton, but he was still on the opposite side of the ring. McMahon and DiBiase even asked why he didn't just tag while Jacques was holding him by the ankle and preventing him from moving. And of course, the referee stoppage came way too soon. As for the actual turn, it probably would have worked better if Owen had feigned concern for Bret and helped him up before kicking his leg out of his leg rather than telegraphing it by pitching a fit in the ring. -
I have no idea how a wrestling company can be so incompetent at the fundamentals of pro wrestling. It's almost TNA-esque, which is actually something I've been thinking about for a while. The real nosedive in the quality of the product seems to have coincided with hiring of the likes of Jeff Jarrett and Abyss. Is it really all that surprising that having TNA veterans backstage would lead to TNA-like results?

If Omega is going back to being The Cleaner, that's more evidence that he has a terrible mind for the business. Cleaner Omega was hokey undercard shit, as was pretty much everything he did prior to coming to NJPW. Tony or someone else in the front office needs to put their foot down and start filtering out his goofier tendencies.

Watch this if you want to see a couple of roided-up clods injure a child in the audience. -
Looks like she's not retired after all. Still, why would someone ask to be released from the #2 promotion in the country only to go back to working local indies? It does seem a bit fishy.

WWE TV 09/16 - 09/22 Stop pushing Seth down our throats!

The problem is that all of Brock's hoss fights since the first Roman match have been disappointments. At this point in his career, he's much better suited for throwing around smaller flippy guys. Brock/Ricochet would probably be a dope match. -

Now this is the kind of absurd sports entertainment bullshit I can get behind. I might actually tune in to Raw to see this. -
A wrestling promo isn't a battle rap where the only goal is to diss your opponent. If you're trying to promote something (your match, your promotion, yourself), there has to be an degree of plausibility to what you're saying. Calling your promotion the best is fine, but saying guys like Cole and Gargano are developmental geeks who can't hang with Joey Janela and Tye Dillinger makes you sound like an insecure idiot.

It seems far more likely to me that Kross is trying to book his own angle. Batista's main career is Hollywood, and working a wrestling match, especially a shoot-style one, would make it harder to insure him. I rather doubt that he'd jeopardize his movie career to work a match with some random indy dude. -
WWE TV 09/16 - 09/22 Stop pushing Seth down our throats!
NintendoLogic replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
That sucked too, but the major difference is that Bryan was trying to get his wife to safety and wasn't running to protect himself. And he fought back against Kane instead of cowering in the corner. Hell, that actually strengthens my point. Seth is being booked worse than Daniel Bryan, who WWE actively tried to sabotage at every turn. -

Seth looks like he's about to piss his pants. Can you imagine any other top babyface cowering in fear like a teenager in a slasher film? As lame as Seth is, the booking has hardly done him any favors. -

At least Seth doesn't throw pancakes into the crowd on his way to the ring.
