[1990-02-06-NWA-Clash of the Champions X] Steve Williams entrance
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
So how was the actual match? Goofy type segment for Williams. He even waves to the camera as the ambulance rushes off to the hospital.- 15 replies

Thought Dutch's video was the best. Champion did a pretty good thrust/superkick from what is shown in his highlights. Bock showing up in Jarrett's was surprising but not really fitting if it is old footage.

[1990-02-03-USWA-Championship Sports] Kerry Von Erich and The Soul Taker
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Yeah, okay if he makes the mistake once to but to call Percy the wrong name again later was pretty bad. Found this promo to just be sad. It's Von Erich's birthday and he jokes he is still 19 which a weird thing for a 30 year old guy to say. He probably wishes he really was that age but I guess that is understandable for all the things that have happened over the years.- 11 replies

[1990-02-03-USWA-Championship Sports] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Good heel promo by Lawler calling his opponents cowards and making up a story about them begging others in the locker room to come to their aid after the beating Lawler will give them.- 11 replies

Percy is not your ideal play by play guy. Adams kind of stumbles over his promos. Austin sounds different but even then he seems pretty confident on the mic.

[1990-02-03-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Interview: Four Horsemen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Feel like the Horsemen have done most of the talking hyping up the Clash show. Flair is all worked up about the Cage match. -
Sounded like Will Smith rapping here. Didn't real fit WCW at the time but they are probably trying to play off the growing popularity of rap.

Flair tells Muta to bring his rickshaw. Who's writing this stuff? Jim Ross? Campy but fun segment.

[1990-02-03-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Woman Wants Flair
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Woman sure looks good. Cornette is quite distracted during the whole segment. I'm wondering were all this is going. Flair continues with the don't mix business with pleasure stance. -
So Kerry turned around a bit too early and saw Travis coming but still allowed himself to get hit with the guitar. In studio Lawler gives the sell promo for monday night. Hard for Jarrett to follow that one up. Nice suspenders Kerry.

Great stuff. It is something else to see a wrestler rant about steroids on TV with them being such a part of the business. Lawler seems to have his own drug test machine which gets super fast results! Taste test line was pretty hilarious.

[1990-02-03-WWF-Superstars] Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior promos
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Both guys are crazy but it is enjoyable to see these promos as the build to WrestleMania. Hogan makes the ultimate challenge to Warrior.- 17 replies

[1990-02-03-WWF-Superstars] Jake Roberts vs Ted DiBiase
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Great to finally see this in full. Match was short with DiBiase squirming his way out of a couple DDT attempts. Slick is randomly out there which makes you know something is up. Boss Man makes an appearance and handcuffs Jake to the ropes and takes off the with the bag. Then we have Brother Love ready. I can only image DiBiase brainstorming this one beforehand. This all leads to Boss Man turning face which he realizes there was payoffs involved. He returns the bag to Jake with all the heels having fits. Really effective turn of Boss Man as fans get behind him real quick. Enjoyed this one. -
[1990-02-02-NWA-Power Hour] Ric Flair vs Tom Zenk
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
I was baffled by Zenk's music until realizing it was from Batman. It was a good match but felt Flair gave Zenk way too much in this match. I know Flair isn't going to squash opponents but as World Champ and still face at this point thought the should have won more clean. Flair in some good chops. Nick Patrick did a good job being vocal when they were getting their shoulders up in some of the pinfall attempts.- 17 replies

First time for me seeing this one. Getting to see Sano the junior heavyweight was interesting. Liger smacking around Sano early only to get his ass handed to him after was impressive. Early on I was waiting for some of the flashing big moves to happen. But I got sucked by the violence Sano was unleashing with the mask ripping and busting up Liger's face. Liger would get brief spurts of offense but Sano would get things back in control in his favor. Don't think I've ever seen Liger dominated like this. Sano hits loads of different types of suplexes to try pin Liger. Can't say the guy didn't try his best and bust out the big moves. He can't put Liger away though and a reversal and big moves from Liger put him away. Liger is not happy after. Excellent match that closes January.

Feel like I've seen better Liger/Owen matches. I like some of acrobatic reversals/moves early but agreed that the submission/mat work wasn't that appealing. Owen does a sharpshooter! Was Bret using that move by then? Disappointing match overall.

[1990-01-28-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Jake Roberts

It really is effective in getting over the points of the storyline and Jake's reasoning and he does it in such a short period of time.- 13 replies

[1990-01-27-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Interview: Dusty Rhodes

I do enjoy Genius' poems. Picked up his poetry years ago. Definitely a one sided looking match that seemed to be the case early with Perfect bouncing all over the ring to every move he takes. Genius takes his lumps also. Finally the get Hogan in trouble with use of the scroll. Hennig is anything but perfect when he lets go of the Perfect Plex before the three count. That was really silly. It's Hogan and you don't make mistakes like that.

Made me want to watch the whole show. These personalized openings are done very well.- 14 replies

Ending did seem to be botched. Douglas put himself in the wrong position to take the Alabama Jam and then move around to do so which looks bad when your pinning a guy. Then they take a while to get the pinfall with the ref counting but it being really obviously the Douglas' shoulders are not on the mat. We get a random camera cut to other action while the three count is finally made. Ending aside was a good match but behind other matches we have seen from WCW so far.

[1990-01-27-NWA-Worldwide] Funk's Grill: Theodore R. Long & Mark Callous
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1990
Funk and Long's interaction was pretty funny. Undertaker had one of those looks on his face wondering what the heck has he just got himself into. -
[1990-01-27-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Interview: Four Horsemen
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1990
I'm sure the Ozone Layer got a bit bigger that day. Horsemen rather party with the ladies than talk about Flair vs Sting. Even Ross gets a couple ladies by the end of the segment. -
So how pissed does Lawler get at his good friend Art Modell when he moves the Browns out of Cleveland? Lawler feeling like he doesn't get enough respect for having big time celebrities like Dangerfield as his good friends.
