[1996-01-08-WWF-Raw] Brother Love: Ted DiBiase & The Ringmaster
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
The Corporation has to be on the the ropes at this point. DiBiase crowns The Ringmaster as the new Million Dollar Champion. Austin rips off Brother Love’s put your hand up to the screen and touch his hand. On the Brother Love show too! -
[1996-01-08-WWF-Raw] Shawn Michaels Press Conference
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Ugh, Shawn with sad face as big announcement. No he’s not retiring but declaring himself as a participant in the Rumble. He’s already annoying. -
[1996-01-06-USWA-TV] Tommy Rich & Doug Gilbert vs PG-13
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Our video footage had better quality in 90-91 than this. The chain is still around. Doug hits Tommy in error. Lance doesn’t think Gilbert was on his game today. PG-13 win the tag belts.- 10 replies

[1996-01-06-USWA-TV] Tommy Rich & Doug Gilbert vs PG-13 feud recap
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Lance Russell back in USWA. Jesse James Armstrong. Isn’t he in WWF at this point. Various clips from matches involving PG-13 and Rich/Gilbert. Randy Hales does a poor job of trying to break things up. Great stuff with PG-13 using the baseball bat. Dundee getting his head shaved. Great segment. I wish I had the courage to wear a top hat.- 10 replies

[1996-01-05-ECW-House Party] Public Enemy vs The Gangstas
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Public Enemy on their way to WCW. Crowd is mostly positive to them. Ineffective pie shot by the Enemy. Grunge is already bloody. Another pie shot that misses later on. Public Enemy gets the victory! Sent them out on a high note. Was garbage for the most part. Good video package to close things out. -
[1996-01-05-ECW-House Party] Sabu vs Stevie Richards
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
This had to have been Richards big coming out match as somewhat of a threat. The sunset powerbomb to the outside is always a big move. Styles still referring to move as Frankensteiner. Big table spot with Sabu leg dropping Richards. Oh, that small package was close! I like how Sabu sells shots to his face like his jaw has been broken. Not the best looking Atomic Arabian face buster. The one he hit on Hak Myers was so much better.- 16 replies

[1996-01-05-ECW-House Party] Raven, Beulah and Tommy Dreamer
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Studley Stevie Richards is the original American Male. Beulah doesn’t want to be touch by Stevie. She’s pregnant! Every guy’s worst dream. Raven schools Beulah on the morning after pill. Raven then beats up Richards. But it’s Tommy’s! Here’s Dreamer to beat up everyone. Total ECW stuff.- 19 replies

[1996-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 1996] Nobuhiko Takada vs Keiji Muto
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Well done on the clip job as I’ve seen the full and it’s not very good. It wasn’t great but the crowd was into Mutoh versus Takada. If anyone is deserving of being hit by a 40 yard ramp run down it is Takada. Not a victory I am happy about. Thanks for showing up Mutoh.- 13 replies

[1996-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 1996] Vader vs Antonio Inoki
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Vader looks terrible falling on his ass off the ramp in front of Inoki. Watch your surroundings. Inoki’s entrance music continues to rule. That release German suplex by Vader is awesome. Inoki sells it like he has just been crippled. Still love seeing that after all these years. I’m amazed Vader didn’t actually lose an eye wrestling NJPW. Vader was having his fun on dropping Inoki on his head. Really good match overall.- 24 replies

[1996-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 1996] Shinya Hashimoto vs Kazuo Yamazaki
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Right away I’m thinking how many ways Hash will kick the crap out of Yamazaki. Anyways, Yamazaki is throwing in the kicks and Hash hits a fantastic open hand slap out of nowhere. I love Hash’s brainbuster. Now that’s a finish.- 27 replies

[1996-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 1996] Jushin Liger vs Koji Kanemoto
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1996
Liger has the split personality look like Piper from WrestleMania 6. I thought the camera caught the finish pretty good. Better match than the 93 one against Ultimo Dragon. It’s curious why the Junior Heavyweight matches didn’t get over with the Dome crowds.- 18 replies

Bischoff talks about cheap shark. Damn you Tenta. Oh, he meant cheap skate. I don’t remember Jimmy Hart with Flair at this point. Hogan completely no sells a Arn Anderson shot. This was more rushed than their WWF matches in 91.

As a WWF guy back in the day I thought this initial segment was fun. Taking shots at both Hogan and Savage. Nothing too sinister at this point.

Jerry Mushburgerking. That is hilarious with Brent’s lusting over various females in the audience over the years. Ramon gets a gift and beats up Goldust’s servant. That will ban you for WrestleMania. Different ring mat. Referee all dressed up like the NFL. It’s a cross over of sports but this needs Latrell Sprewell choking Hebner. This appears to be a four way tag team match. Is that Lawler’s mom sitting next to him ringside? You’re a terrible person Earl Hebner. Owen! He gets the Banzai drop in error. The Kid and Sid. Plenty of football puns. Thankfully no drinking games set up. Jim Ross must have been disappointed to not be able to call this.

That was a bad atomic drop by Dustin on Windham. Sting full of fury taking out both Windham and Vader. Big Van Vader smashes Sting. Windham with that Implant DDT that I love. Vader introduces the strap on Sting's back.

[1993-01-30-SMW-TV] Rock & Roll Express vs Heavenly Bodies
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1993
Dutch and Caudle talking about SMW team appearing on WCW show. Mark Curtis and Crush are competing for the most concussion blow to sell in 1993. Eaton makes an appearance on behalf of the Bodies! Heavenly Bodies become tag champs. Cornette lets us know that all three of them will be around. I think Jimmy Golden is trying to compete in the Ugly Sweater contest but he is not in the same league as McMahon/Heenan/Roberts from 91.- 11 replies

This ain't the two out of three falls match Pillman/Austin were looking for. But Pillman/Austin pull out the win in a non title match. Ventura's commentary is always good.

[1993-01-30-USWA-TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler / Music Video: PG-13
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1993
I actually wondered if there was a feud between Perfect and Lawler based on what happened at Royal Rumble. They show clips of the Rumble and then completely embrace Lawler as a good guy. That is pretty funny. Lawler wants to put the USWA title up against the WWF title. Lawler brings up the previous matches with Hennig from the 80s. Nice touch. Mr. Perfect plays total heel in his interview from WWF studios. Check out those fancy graphics. Akeem the African Dream would have fit in with this dancing with PG-13. -
Oh no! Not Williams and Gordy again. Mercy! I'd be curious to read the thoughts of the 90-91 one crew on this one. Granted Misawa/Kawada get a bit more action in but it is still Williams/Gordy controlling early in the match. Facelock!!! Felt like the same old crap from 90-91.

[1993-01-25-WWF-Raw] Ric Flair vs Mr Perfect (Loser Leaves the WWF)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1993
Heenan finally got himself a broadcast journalist position on Monday Night Raw. Earl Hebner sucks and completely missed out on catching Mr. Perfect's towel. Am I to understand that it was not announced to the live crowd that this was a Loser Leaves Town match? El Santo wishes he got do a big dive to the outside like Hebner did to interrupt that chair shot. Rob Bartlett does not care for the Flair flop. I do like the Manhattan Center. It is a great early Raw match but overall it is probably overrated in the end. Bye bye Flair! WWF gave Flair a bigger send off than WCW did in the Halloween Havoc match against Hogan.- 17 replies

First time that winner of Rumble would go to face WWF Champion at WrestleMania. Monsoon doesn't think either Backlund/Flair has a chance in being there in the end. He said that about Flair in 92 Rumble. Shango doesn't stick around long. Outside of buying the 30 spot in 89 Rumble, DiBiase has drawn some really bad picks. Flair was leaving but him going out early really hurt the already lack of star power in match. Monsoon mentions loser leaves town match between Flair/Perfect on tomorrow night's Raw. Skinner still around in WWF. Perfect's elimination was great with him hanging on for life before the numbers got to him. Big pop for Undertaker's entrance. The obvious favorite to win and the crowd favorite. Spirited exchange between Undertaker and Tenryu. Backlund is knocked out on the floor. Terry Taylor! This Rumble just had some really random entrants. There goes Taylor. Giant Gonzales! What is that?! Heenan speculates that he is 20 or 30 feet tall. Dragon Master is close to 50 feet tall on my measurement. And there goes Undertaker and the wind goes out of the live audience. I firmly believed that Chris Chavis was both Max Moon and Tatanka in this match. Weak star power in the ring. The older Rumbles seemed to have the issue of peaking too early and then limping to the end. Outside of the 92 Rumble, this would continue the trend. The Disasters square off but this match is dead right now. Carlos Colon with great youngster comment from Monsoon. He's a strange entrant as he has to have very little if any experience on WWF/North American TV. Here's Yoko! This suddenly feels obvious who is going to win. Yoko white tights doesn't work though. Big confrontation between Yoko and Earthquake. Repo Man with bad physique. This feels like such a end run for lots of these guys. Everyone tries to gang up against Yoko but he survives it! That was cool cause that was the moment to get rid of him and they couldn't do it. Savage is the only legit competition to Yoko at this point. That really is some bad competition at the end. Crowd are appreciate of Backlund's run but he still didn't feel like a legit shot to win it. Yoko manages to knock himself off his feet. Savage goes to the top rope for the elbow drop. Even Gorilla points out to Savage that pinfalls don't count. Yoko launches Savage over the top rope for the win. I think this has to be one of the weakest Rumble's due to the lack of overall star power. Bret gets in Yoko's face afterwards backstage and puts the WWF title in his face.

[1993-01-24-WWF-Royal Rumble] Bobby Heenan and The Narcissist
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in January 1993
Luger versus Hogan in early 93 would have been great. Heenan is great in putting over Luger in this segment. Big debut on a major PPV for Luger. He comes off as a big deal guy. Luger needed a longer term run as heel in WWF.- 13 replies
