  1. I had he exact same problem with their series. Went in expecting a precursor to the Choshu tags in AJ and that's simply not what was happening.
  2. Make it happen.
  3. Even Tank had an amateur background though -- nothing of note, but its not as though he was Van Damme's buddy in Bloodsport.
  4. Don't recall Piper having much of a rep for adhering to scripts. Sounds like he was just all over the place rather than going into business for himself.
  5. Bumping this as he was mentioned in the Benoit thread and there seems to be zero talk for someone that may be a legit top 10 candidate for many. He's got big performances going back to the Yamada days without the mask in the '86 Gauntlet and probably elsewhere that's not top of mind, right through to the Sano series, Samurai, Ohtani, Kanemoto, Benoit, the NOAH feud, Sasuke, Pillman, Hashimoto, and undoubtedly countless others. Has anyone revisited his career along the way or have any new thoughts on him? One of the juniors who almost without fail holds up incredibly well with a variety of opponents and styles. Whether its limb work with Sano, hateful brawls with NOAH, flying with Sasuke or working the mat with Pillman there's little in his library that's lost steam over the years.
  6. In a broad sense. In the early UFC days it generally referred to someone without extensive formal training in a given martial art or wrestling. More of a marketing posture than legit recruitment of Ken or Ryu.
  7. Also check out Rampage vs. Silva in Pride and Silva vs. Liddell in the former's UFC debut.
  8. Actually turned off Raw early last night so I could catch an episode of the Shield before bed. Second time that's happened in the last couple months, and the only 2 times I can recall it ever happening.
  9. Rewatched Brock/Roman this weekend as I think about MOTY ballot and still absolutely loved it. Perhaps it'd have been a bit stronger with a straight finish between the two of them, but thought Rollins introduction and role in in the match were just about perfect if you're going that route. The timing and booking from his entrance to the finish were spot on without any sense of clusterfuckery. Firmly on it at ****3/4 and currently only behind the G1 finals in 2015.
  10. Hope you've been lifting.
  11. Kick some ass and please dominate on behalf of everyone here. I'm sure we've all had someone close, friend or family, who has faced cancer, and we'll all send some dominating thoughts your way. F5 that ish and know we're all behind you.
  12. Saw this on twitter walking home from dinner. One of the original ECW stalwarts I remember watching late night on MSG back in the day. Absolutely floored by how young he was. Thoughts and prayers to his friends, family and loved ones.
  13. I'd also watch the August '92 TC title change.
  14. +1 for competition. Always.
  15. This is absolutely true. And not because anyone wants some weirdo rambling on their wrestling tv show. We just want something different then the exact same formula that's been used week in and week out for nearly 2 decades now. Creating stars is one thing, but simply changing the television formula -- to practically anything that doesn't resemble the current product outside of the matches -- would help. It almost doesn't matter which direction they take it. Just make it different.
  16. Yep, doing my part and streaming something on mute all day at work. Can't watch but hopefully they note the numbers.
  17. What did he say?
  18. Awesome, will have to keep an eye out for that as well.
  19. Thanks, will add that to to the list.
  20. As long as it works for you it sounds like a plan. And at the end of the day you can always veer if you don't like the look of things. But its good to have a base.
  21. Have you found anything of his outside of NJPW that ranks as highly?
  22. Glad you're back on board!
  23. "She said she was 18."
