  1. Parv, really insightful thoughts on Kawada. I haven't been able to put down just why he's below Misawa & Kobashi for me, but your points in particular about him on the mat are spot on. All of this needs to be kept in perspective as we're talking about someone who's very likely a top 10 GOAT candidate, at worst, but looking at what distinguishes him from his peers in that category. As far as his work outside of the other AJ greats, have you seen any of the Footloose tags?
  2. This started a bit slowly for me as it didn't seem like they were on the same page. Back and forth offense without any real transitions, and it seemed like Hero was just beginning to figure out what has become his current in-ring approach. Things picked up when KENTA forced the pace as Hero was great putting hit offense over. Some nice near falls down the stretch featuring some great trading of strikes that really turned up the heat. Would like to see current Hero vs. this KENTA. ***1/4
  3. Does Cena have to drop it?
  4. The biggest problem I see is that much like last year, where Reigns was out due to injury, is absolutely nothing has been done to heat him up for a Rumble or top level Mania match. Short of a hot heel turn on someone, what's going to kickstart the character in time for that this time around?
  5. Haha I envy your time! Checked off yesterday's box with Morton-Ole and am hoping to tick off Chris Hero-KENTA today, but if not I may cheat a bit as I just watched Freebirds vs. Dibiase & Taylor within the past couple weeks so that's a solid fallback.
  6. What's the deal with this crowd? Is there something legendary about it? It was *beyond* hot for such a simple, effective match. Tremendous heat for Ole working arm and ribs early, and they manage to take it up a notch for Morton's comebacks, which were basically nothing more than punching. Just hot throughout, especially on Ole's awesome diving headbutt to the midsection to cut Ricky off. The post-match was great as well, with Arn grinding Ricky's face into the concrete while Ole & Tully double Dusty. This was super fun. May be overshooting things here, but despite the length and finish the heat was just so insane I can't go lower at this time than ***1/4.
  7. When is Sami Zayn coming back?
  8. Linking to make it easier for those want to check this one out. I will hopefully watch at halftime of the 1pm games.
  9. I absolutely love this idea. It remains to be seen how I fit this in within everything else I try to watch and with schedule limitations (i.e. barely home from work in time for Raw, then usually right to bed after that), but if I shoot for one match a day it'll add even more variety to our regularly scheduled programming.
  10. No, very strange its missing for some reason. Will check again today/tomorrow and if not download the mp3 via soundcloud.
  11. Very strange, its definitely not showing up in itunes for me. #4 came through without any issues.
  12. Parv, it doesn't look like part 3 made it to itunes.
  13. Yes, yes it is. I'm actually glad we got it with '92 Tenryu rather than let's say mid-80s Tenryu.
  14. I prefer Hansen's brawling because Funk too often turns up the cartoonish aspects of his work.
  15. Like Grimmas said, I'm sure many of our blind spots will cancel each other and at the end of the day its just a snapshot of what we've seen and think at a given point. Hopefully, though, we don't have to wait 10 more years to take another snapshot! That seems so long.
  16. That'd make sense. If there's a real cost in dollars and hours I'd expect a focus on more recent, better produced material.
  17. That's just it -- I can't imagine the costs in adding older footage to the network is tremendous, especially where there's really no capacity to remaster or otherwise improve the footage. If those costs are minimal it really makes no sense and can only help establish the network as *the* go-to archive for wrestling fans. I doubt this moves the needle much, if at all, but if the required investment is insignificant it seems like an easy call.
  18. Echoing all the praise for the show, the main event and even moreso how that match and the characters were presented. With management sitting right there you'd think they would note the difference between how this compares to the same package wrapped differently on Raw.
  19. OK, now I'm picturing a secret section of the Network featuring X-rated fare like "Big Show Meats the Divas" or something To quote my man, Giddyup.
  20. The NXT Takeover Brooklyn special was an incredible production. If it doesn't leave you a little dusty and loving the world then you'll never love wrestling. The network is really on a roll. Between this, televised house shows, the JBL interviews, table for 3, etc. it feels like they're finding the right mix of BTS docs and features that are truly can't miss. The PPVs and archives make it a no brainer from a budget perspective, but these specials put it over the top.
  21. All that teasing about Cena's opponent and running through various names on the roster made Big E feel like a letdown. Should've hyped him as the opponent from the beginning.
  22. Came here to note the Reigns reaction as well. Its not exactly top star level, but he seems over as a babyface now without backlash. Big question is how much they can heat him up heading into Mania. I still think he'd be best served with a heel run before attaching the babyface rocket to him, but at least it seems like its trending in the right direction.
  23. How impressive is the 90s All Japan run? Watching some of the less touted matches from his NOAH era I'm wondering just how high I can place him. You've got the incredible Misawa & Kobashi matches in '00 and '01, respectively, and then a few years of excellence up and down the country across promotions. Hell, last night I watched his '03 match vs. Rikio that would've had Kobashi envious. Very much feels like an early-aughts Brock Lesnar.
