The biggest problem for UFC in letting Rousey go to WWE isn't how she's booked, as that likely won't be an issue, but rather handing one of her buyrates to WWE rather than keep it in house. She's likely to transition to movies at some point. She may eat a punch at some point. The shelf life here is limited so to give arguably her biggest number ever to your competition rather than hand you the cash to see her is a pretty big deal.

Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Tyler Breeze at NXT Takeover in Brooklyn on 8/22
WingedEagle replied to KrisZ's topic in WWE
This is what is really the most interesting part of it. I mean I guess if you're New Japan and WWE asks you, do you want to risk pissing them off? Only if the price is better than what you're getting from the ROH relationship long-term. -

What are the bigger picture ramifications of this? Liger isn't taking a booking on his own against NJPW talent a few subway stops away. Any details on all of this yet? -
Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)

The material doesn't bother me. Perhaps sad at times, but it doesn't trouble me. But the chewing is like nails on a chalkboard. -
Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)

The eating was actually enough for me to shut it down. I don't need impeccable production or sound quality but I won't listen to chewing. -
This reminds me of a game I got back in the day where there were player cards for all the wrestlers and various match types and you'd roll die to go move by move. This was pre-cable when all I knew about the NWA was from the Apter mags so being able to run a texas death or bunkhouse stampede with Dusty & Flair was amazing.

Not exactly this week's TV but what the hell. I'm watching Summerslam 2005 on the Network and right before the main event they cut to the announcers and it looks like seated just behind them and to their right is the fan with the famous shocked face when Taker lost at Mania last year. Pretty cool.

As the working style evolved, Baba seemed to keep trying to add stuff that fit into being a "wrestler" in that era. Dude added a DDT because wrestlers in his promotion did moves. If you count up the moves he did in 1969 with the Destroyer (or other similar late 60s / early 70s stuff on tape), than chart what he added after that, it's pretty amazing how he evolved as the sport got more spotty / higher tech. He was freaking Baba, a major star and didn't have to do it. But he was smart. How difficult is it for wrestlers to add moves to their repertoire? I don't have a sense for how difficult or easy that is.

The NBA Playoffs are pro wrestling

Ty Lawson with another wellness policy violation. Should probably get out of Colorado but Nuggs can't trade him for a dime on the dollar. -
Different strokes for different folks, Inonki-san.

WCW would've done the exact same nonsense before Mania last year and paid it off with Bryan losing on the undercard. They'd literally rub it in your face.

I hear you. I guess the key words for me are "for every payoff" because there are enough of them to maintain optimism about the product week in and week out. Plus quality matches even if often numb to them because of presentation. Bottom line, there's enough that isn't pure trash and and its worst its usually just poor wrestling on TV, whereas during its death spiral WCW was simply unwatchable TV. Years and years (decades) at this point of goodwill goes a long way. Plus they obviously do something right to find a few new fans, whether it be lucking into a Cena type, putting out great merchandise that's accessible for kids or countless other little things. They're pretty good about maintaining a floor and should be able to do so as long as USA is on board.

I really wish people were so forgiving when WCW was around. Man, WWE gets a free pass so much of the time. They've definitely earned more leeway though. Even when slogging through months of never-ending TV, you eventually get rewarded whether its the Rumble/Mania main events this year, Mania or Summerslam last year, Rock's return, Bryan at Summerslam in '13, etc. The hits may be fewer and further between but after let's say the build to Starrcade '97 and Goldberg at the Dome, how many big, satisfying moments did WCW provide?

Lock the thread. This wins.

Don't always have to be different. With the right brawl they can be very similar. But Lucha can give the vibe of being a drunk cirque du soleil, whereas PR feels more like a drunk alley fight. Massive generalization? Yes, no question. Just the vibe that each gives off at times. The only real difference I can think of is that they bleed more in PR and do more gimmick matches. The styles seem like cousins to me. When they do the brawling I get it. But lucha has more to it than that. Haven't seen much else out of PR so can't comment there. Sticking with the brawling then, since "lucha" is the name for professional wrestling in Mexico and in fact made up of various different styles, I can't really understand how anybody who enjoyed Hansen/Colon so much, or thinks Colon is a guy worth investing more time in, would overlook or ignore the great lucha brawlers. That is the plan. I've loved some lucha brawls as much as if not more than the best of Hansen/Colon. Outside of brawling things I've loved in lucha have been few and far between.

I like lucha brawls. Those very much resemble PR brawls. its other lucha that does not connect as well.

Can you cut that down to 10?

Awesome. Do you have the match listings for it?
