  1. Wow, I would love to see that fight. Hopefully Drew Mac came out with some battle scars as well. As for the match? ADR/Christian was great, crowd was super hot for Christian's near falls. He also sold the shoulder like a boss and looked like a real threat to win. Definitely better than I expected, as I haven't been in love with Del Rio's TV matches but he was more aggressive here and came across like a no nonsense heel instead of just someone with a boring schtick on the mic. His post-match promo had me expecting a Misterio return but perhaps that's down the line, or was just done to take advantage of the location.
  2. Del Rio with a NASTY shiner. Did I miss something or did he have a bad weekend?
  3. Really enjoyed Cody/Sandow. I was hoping to see Cody sell the knee after Sandow swept the leg, and while that was asking too much he sold the back for a decent bit. All in all very fun and probably the best reaction Cody has gotten so far as a face. Also very surprised to see him get a clean pin. On another night you might say Sandow is cashing in tonight, but probably a safe bet they're saving the title change(s) to close out the show.
  4. Wow harsh words but probably not all that far off. Just surprising they wouldn't put Wyatt in a position to look great in his debut.
  5. Kane/Wyatt was pretty disappointing. Really thought they'd at least have Wyatt look strong before a schmozz finish. Instead they painted him as unable to do much on his own.
  6. P.W.O. Or asking too much on this one? Just don't think this is going anywhere that's going to do anyone much good. There's a place for people with certain views to express and discuss them, but I don't think this is it.
  7. I remember this and the follow up at the next arena show more vividly than just about anything else from that year. Easily two of the best hours of televised wrestling you can find. Call it overbooking, but it was all laid out and produced perfectly for the purposes of television. Great wrestling would follow, but for my money this was the peak of ECW's helter skelter creative.
  8. Lots of stalling early. Gilbert juices after a piledriver and they start brawling outside with chairs. Gilbert does big color for a pretty small and quiet crowd. Brawl up into the stands is cool. Gilbert uses crutch to work over Lawler. No finish airs. Would've obviously preferred a complete MSC match from these 2 but we'll have to take what's available for the record. **1/4
  9. Cactus eats a backdrop on floor. Hayes is noticeably better than most color on WCW this year, Ventura included. Double countout sets up the FCA match. Okay but nothing special. **1/2
  10. Warrior narrating a feud with the clips interspersed is something. Great production though. Then its Savage's turn to speak and its more insanity.
  11. Yoshida takes a page out of Toyota's book with a flurry of early dropkicks before working the knee to keep her opponent grounded, and she continues working this smart strategy. As Flik points out, Toyota's not about to sell that the whole way through but her offense is awesome enough to overcome that a lot of the time. She had a *great* kick off of Yoshida into an armbreaker. The bump she took off of the missed dropkick into the ropes was just sick. Yoshida plancha. After Toyota's top rope Asai moonsault and Ocean Suplex are only good for a near fall, Yoshida capitalizes on a missed moonsault with la magistral for a hot near fall. After a strong finishing stretch Toyota finishes with another Ocean Suplex. Too bad I didn't know the backstory about the tournament before watching this but it was still really good. No Joshi on this set has been even remotely disappointing. ***3/4
  12. Diana's promos would come a long way by 1996. The crowd reaction for DBS is what a home court advantage is all about, and is responsible for this being such an indelible moment. Kudos to Bret for working as a somewhat subtle heel here and giving the crowd what they want rather than sticking to his babyface routine. His offense was so crisp and smooth and absolutely held this thing together. You can almost pinpoint when Hart starts working timeouts into the match to keep DBS clued in as to where they're going next. Really sloppy attempt by a shot Davey to throw Bret over the top, who somehow saves it by getting himself tangled in ropes. Starting with the running powerslam the heat picks up as we get near falls off that and a superplex, while Bret worked a creative spot to lock in the Sharpshooter after a double clothesline before the great finish. This was a very good match and an all time performance by Bret given what he was working with, but it didn't hold up at all for me as any kind of classic or MOTYC, even for the company. ***3/4
  13. I absolutely loved this. Savage sold like a champion early on here and even worked as a subtle heel to establish that dynamic, using the tights to throw Warrior into the turnbuckle for a transition and then dumping him to the floor. Great sequences with Warrior no selling one axehandle, going down from the second and catching him on the third with a backbreaker. Savage then sells and Warrior works over his back for a nice little bit. Flair & Perfect start doing their thing here, interfering against Savage and then Warrior, resulting in a great near fall after a Savage piledriver and elbow. Savage eventually realizes what's going on and jumps from the top to the floor on Flair, who nails his knee with a chair which results in a count out and sets up the title change at the next TV tapings. Warrior teases a belt shot but hands it to Savage and they celebrate together while Savage sells knee. I need to rewatch the Mania match but initially I didn't think this was any poorer. Warrior gassed just as early and more visibly than DBS later that night and Savage still carried the inferior worker to a superior match. When examining Savage's record as a worker, these matches should be exhibit A in demonstrating his ability to carry someone. ****1/4
  14. Can't wait. B/w what sounds like excessive Dandy and undoubtedly a healthy serving of Santo & Casas, everyone should be all over this.
  15. At least buy me dinner before you do me like that. Might as well have just taken the money right out of my pocket.

Great, now I actually have to watch most of it. THANKS DUDE.
  17. Second the Austin pick and also throw out a call for MiSu.
  18. Am I the only one who thought Naito/Suzuki on Day 4 was better than Ishii/Shibata? I love Ishii and generally like Shibata, but that just felt like an excuse to concuss and beat the crap out of each other for 15 minutes. My thoughts on whether that's a good idea or not aside, I'm able to enjoy it do a certain extent when done well, which it was here. But Suzuki put on a clinic in carrying a thus far unimpressive Naito to his best match since last year's title challenge vs. Okada. If Suzuki could teach everyone the importance of timing and pacing, the world would be a better place.
  19. That'd be great. Someone who watches as much as you do really deserves to enjoy the best of what's being put out right now.
  20. Boricua, what a fantastic job. Really appreciate the time and effort you spent laying all of this out. We should be so fortunate to have someone do that for other places!
  21. Jake doesn't want a piece of the world, he wants the whole world. Great heel promo.
  22. Fuller throws great punches and Morton takes a great beating as always. Both teams take out the ref and it’s a double DQ.
  23. Signing for the no time limit match with Cornette's racket "omitted" from the ring, with Mama Cornette's money on the line. Bring on the RNR.
  24. Gilbert promo talking about who's challenged him for Unified world title. Mentions DWB winning the SMW title, and challenges him to come to Memphis.
