  1. I thought the tag title match started out a bit slow and bland, but from the Usos cleaning house on the floor it was pretty damn great. A few big near falls that the crowd absolutely bought into, but not so many that it became overdone. Some incredible timing on the cutoffs and big spots, and I appreciate that they even had Kofi MIA for a while after that powerbomb rather than returning quickly and rendering it meaningless. The finish felt a bit sudden after the last Woods save, but hardly a major flaw. Fun opener! ***1/2
  2. WOW. That powerbomb on the floor! Slow start but business has indeed picked up.
  3. Although I'm not sure how much I can take away from so many short matches where the goal may have very well been to carry non-workers to non-disasters. Not on her, but its certainly very limiting. Almost like a clip reel of highlights rather than game film.
  4. You're just not going to get anything that compares to the best stuff of this era of Women's Wrestling. It just didn't happen. But that's all about opportunity. Ric Flair or El Hijo del Santo couldn't have a "great match" in 1:25 against Torrie Wilson. That's just not something that's feasible. So Trish's case isn't going to be about "look at these hidden gem MOTYC's that we found! Holy Crap!" Her case is more like Buddy Rose's than Mitsuharu Misawa's. You gotta watch everything. However, I have no doubt if she came back on RAW tomorrow and was getting thrown into 15 minute matches with Sasha or Becky or Charlotte, that Trish would be more than capable of holding up her end. Oh I don't doubt it. She definitely requires a different eye and was simply never put out there to have great matches. No doubt she'd hang in the current environment.
  5. You may very well be out of touch! But there is very much zero interest in this show. I'm hoping that along with my super low expectations lead to a pleasantly surprising evening. Not holding my breath.
  6. Impressive. On the one hand I don't feel too badly because its not like the women were pushed as much more than eye candy then which limited how seriously I'd ever approach those matches. On the other, damn. Absolutely need to take a look at this with a fresh eye. Who knows when that'll happen, but we'll get there.
  7. Apparently I'm in the minority on this one as the card looks very weak to me. Zero interest in Orton/Jinder or Nak/Corbin. No interest in almost anything either Orton or Corbin, especially the latter, as Orton has potential against the right opponent. AJ/Owens should be solid as their first PPV match was good and despite the MSG title change being a bit underwhelming I expect Owens to go hard tonight. The women have potential in the right setting, but a 5 way with Tamina & Lana is not that. If AJ & the tag title match deliver, and Cena/Rusev isn't held down by rust, there's potential for a good show.
  8. Wow. Elliott -- those bumps are out of this world. When I was watching her PPV matches on the Network they always struck me as solid for the era but a far cry from anything we'd see now. But I don't ever remember anything like that standing out. Did Trish regularly kill herself like that?

  10. Was there ever any chatter about Alberto's issues or character during his WWE run? I don't recall hearing much about him at that time.
  11. No tears, but definitely got a little dusty here today watching the finishing stretch of Io Shirai vs. Mayu Iwatani from Korakuen last month. Fair or not this happens more often watching women's wrestling. Perhaps because they're more openly & visibly emotional at times? Sue me, I'm a sucker for it.
  12. Yep, confirmed that's only available in Japan.
  13. Anyone else having trouble viewing the videos from Rev Pro's British J Cup on NJ World?
  14. Cersei returns with a vengeance. We need more.
  15. I don't like it because the Von Erich's had great matches. But I kinda like it because that makes the next logical step that the Dems are the Freebirds. Michael Hayes is Bernie Sanders? Next logical step is the conclusion. Minus the Parade of Champions, obviously. Too dark? Nah, I didn't think so either.
  16. Kushida coming full circle here from the loss at Sakura Genesis was a really great moment, even if it could've been stretched out a bit longer. I'm still just not drinking the Hiromu Kool Aid and preferred Kushida's matches with Liger and Ospreay in the BOSJ better than anything in the Hiromu series. These are perfectly solid, enjoyable matches that undoubtedly feature a ton of violent, breathtaking spots. The way they're put together just comes off very cold without a ton of impact on most occasions. ***3/4
  17. I like them best as the Von Erichs, only no one gets to play Kevin.
  18. Here's hoping Paige gets the help she needs and is soon able to surround herself with supportive people.
  19. Both scenarios work for me.
  20. Between the setup with all 3 in the ring tonight and Braun's non-appearance, it very much feels like Braun returns next week to build for a Summerslam 4 way.
  21. But would make a tremendous heel. And potentially, eventually, a tremendous face. Or not. But its a different mindset now. A proper heel run used to set up the big babyface turn but I guess that's no longer in the cards. At least he's an excellent worker.
  22. Haven't heard either way but my instinct while watching is that the post-match angle was pretaped.
  23. Whoa, you didn't think the Tag Titles match resembled a MOTYC? No. Very good match that vastly exceeded expectations, but far shy of a MOTYC.
  24. Absolutely thought it was a great show, despite the absence of anything resembling a MOTYC. Almost every match met or exceeded expectations and none really went too long, which is not something I thought was possible given the iron man match. They got one stinker (Bray/Seth) out of the way immediately and even that was better than expected. The other (Miz/Ambrose) came at an opportune time to reset and take care of some other things around the house while they ran through their act again. Basically everything else on the show was good to very good. I wish it didn't run long but the extended Braun/Roman angle made that happen, and the potential of super babyface Braun may make that worthwhile. A great, easy watch.
