How does this rank with the all time bad PPVs? I never ordered any of the contenders back in the day, but this feels like a real bottom of the Network era.
-
*Except for New Day/Usos.
-
Correct. Looking forward to it! Yeah. A far cry from his debut with the Cena feud. Loved him then but we are along ways away from that.
-
And I *love* a well worked headlock. Owens' is not that.

I mean, when you get the opportunity, I know some other matches you couls watch... At this rate, with NWAonDemand down, i'm going to have to lose bets just to figure out what to watch. I'll have both of yours watched/written up by the end of this week barring disaster. I'm running casual and noteless tonight. (which means I'm not writing up this Bate/Dunne one either, though I will say that I love how into everything Dunne is. Surly teenager isn't necessarily a hard character, but the commitment is charming). Try the Stardom streaming service. Lots of content and it's broken up into matches. Cosign. Take DDT for a spin -- they have a women's group on their service as well so plenty to mix it up, although DDT is very hit or miss for me. The comedy stuff just doesn't do it for me but they've got some really great, young wrestlers as well. G1 is an obvious go-to. A few fun workers in Sendai Girls which is easily accessible in the archive.

Yes and yes. And yes.

An appropriate finish as that match did to each of us what Corbin just did to Nakamura.
-
This Corbin match is as boring as the opener was entertaining. I don't get his push at all. He's nothing in the ring and on the mic, along with a zero in look charisma. Just baffling.

I thought the tag title match started out a bit slow and bland, but from the Usos cleaning house on the floor it was pretty damn great. A few big near falls that the crowd absolutely bought into, but not so many that it became overdone. Some incredible timing on the cutoffs and big spots, and I appreciate that they even had Kofi MIA for a while after that powerbomb rather than returning quickly and rendering it meaningless. The finish felt a bit sudden after the last Woods save, but hardly a major flaw. Fun opener! ***1/2

WOW. That powerbomb on the floor! Slow start but business has indeed picked up.

You're just not going to get anything that compares to the best stuff of this era of Women's Wrestling. It just didn't happen. But that's all about opportunity. Ric Flair or El Hijo del Santo couldn't have a "great match" in 1:25 against Torrie Wilson. That's just not something that's feasible. So Trish's case isn't going to be about "look at these hidden gem MOTYC's that we found! Holy Crap!" Her case is more like Buddy Rose's than Mitsuharu Misawa's. You gotta watch everything. However, I have no doubt if she came back on RAW tomorrow and was getting thrown into 15 minute matches with Sasha or Becky or Charlotte, that Trish would be more than capable of holding up her end. Oh I don't doubt it. She definitely requires a different eye and was simply never put out there to have great matches. No doubt she'd hang in the current environment.

You may very well be out of touch! But there is very much zero interest in this show. I'm hoping that along with my super low expectations lead to a pleasantly surprising evening. Not holding my breath.
-
Impressive. On the one hand I don't feel too badly because its not like the women were pushed as much more than eye candy then which limited how seriously I'd ever approach those matches. On the other, damn. Absolutely need to take a look at this with a fresh eye. Who knows when that'll happen, but we'll get there.
-
Apparently I'm in the minority on this one as the card looks very weak to me. Zero interest in Orton/Jinder or Nak/Corbin. No interest in almost anything either Orton or Corbin, especially the latter, as Orton has potential against the right opponent. AJ/Owens should be solid as their first PPV match was good and despite the MSG title change being a bit underwhelming I expect Owens to go hard tonight. The women have potential in the right setting, but a 5 way with Tamina & Lana is not that. If AJ & the tag title match deliver, and Cena/Rusev isn't held down by rust, there's potential for a good show.

Was there ever any chatter about Alberto's issues or character during his WWE run? I don't recall hearing much about him at that time.

No tears, but definitely got a little dusty here today watching the finishing stretch of Io Shirai vs. Mayu Iwatani from Korakuen last month. Fair or not this happens more often watching women's wrestling. Perhaps because they're more openly & visibly emotional at times? Sue me, I'm a sucker for it.
-
Yep, confirmed that's only available in Japan.

Anyone else having trouble viewing the videos from Rev Pro's British J Cup on NJ World?

Cersei returns with a vengeance. We need more.

I don't like it because the Von Erich's had great matches. But I kinda like it because that makes the next logical step that the Dems are the Freebirds. Michael Hayes is Bernie Sanders? Next logical step is the conclusion. Minus the Parade of Champions, obviously. Too dark? Nah, I didn't think so either.
