After a huge conversion project, I’ve now replaced the very outdated search tool at itvwrestling.co.uk with a dedicated database at database.itvwestling.co.uk (also accessible through a link on the main site.) It covers 1955-1988 and is fully browsable and searchable, with YouTube links where available. You can click on almost anything to get chronological lists of: Matches of a particular wrestler (and a win-loss record). In theory it should group together results from a wrestler who used multiple names or where there are spelling mistakes/variations in the listings. Matches from a venue. Matches from a particular episode. Matches for a specific title. Matches in a specific tournament. There’s also an option to see listing with match results displayed or hidden. One important note is that I can’t guarantee everything is completely correct as I had to develop automated processes for turning the (very inconsistently written and formatted) listings into database form. I’ve tried to fix most issues, but the main things to watch out for are two wrestlers being listed as the same person (eg I need to fix this with Peter & Jon Cortez) and cases where the wrestler ‘scores’ are correct but the wrong person has been the winner (this involved an extremely complex algorithm for the computer to understand who wins with particular combinations of scores.) I will be fixing any errors I hear about or spot, but it’s a process that needs to be done in batches rather than one at a time as I find them. The main itvwrestling.co.uk continues as normal with the listings, which include additional details such as match and show notes, show times, post 1988 listings, listing from non-ITV channels, and bonus information and articles.

Thanks - have updated with these corrections. There may have been something unusual with that Wolverhampton taping as the TV Times has two matches (Tibor Szakacs vs Jack Fallon and Casanova vs Eric Wilson) listed for both Wednesday 19th (in one week's edition of the magazine) and Saturday 22nd (in the following week's edition), so that suggests a late change in scheduling for some reason.

Not sure, but I think it's from a couple of shows (another being in Sheffield) where it's the entire taping (including the into, gaps between matches and MC saying goodnight) rather than the TV broadcasts. So I assume it's originally from a master tape at ITV.

It was on the Old School section of the original WWE Network.

I know it's just because of a mainly-objective date criteria (and will resolve itself in a couple of years), but Paul Orndorff so clearly looks in the wrong group for comparisons there.

Thanks - have added the clip at the end of the 1983 page (the "didn't air on ITV but did show up on The Wrestling Channel" section.) It looks likely it was scheduled to air on August 13 but World of Sport had athletics instead.

From the full press release it sounds like it's mainly about being an industry body rather than any kind of promotional alliance. They're doing a one-off joint show, but the main aim seems to be lobbying so that they get proper government assistance if they have to shut down in another pandemic.

I wonder if it's less "they did a coke spot, we have to pull the TV element of the deal" and more "I know we did a deal with Corgan but now we've signed NXT so we need to find any excuse we can to pull out. Roll the tape".

How WWE can do what it wants while still keeping the fans happy: * Zayn-Reigns at Elimination Chamber in Montreal, winds up with Zayn looking like he can win but Temporarily Good Uso turns against him. * Night One of Mania ends with Zayn/Owen beating the Usos for the tag belts. * Night Two of Mania is Rhodes-Reigns with a mid-match section where the Bloodline are doing loads of interference but Zayn and Uso run them off, leaving Rhodes to finish a fair one-on-one match.

I'm really baffled by the tag teams. Firstly, am I comparing their credentials against other tag teams or against all other candidates? If it's the latter, I'm not sure how anyone could argue for, eg, the Rockers when they pretty much headlined one AWA 'supershow' and a brief run of C shows where cripped Andre vs Warrior was the real main event. Secondly, am I taking into account just their tag run or their individual careers as well? If it's the former, as appears to be the case, I don't see how a UK team gets in because hardly anyone in the TV era was full-time in a tag team. You had regular pairings, but they'd always be doing singles matches as well, and not in a "one half of each team faces off sense." Also, if your singles matches don't affect your tag run, then by the same logic, should tag matches be taken into account for a singles candidate? Because if you take out the matches with Kernodle against Steamboat and Youngblood, Slaughter's case is much weaker. And how strictly do you enforce the logic. Clearly nobody's going to pay much attention to Jannetty's singles careers in assessing the Rockers. But are people really going to ignore every Taue singles match in assessing the drawing/work/influence of Kawada & Taue. And do you take into account six man matches where the unit of "Kawada & Taue" was part of the team?

I get that problem, but if I then hit the Browse button in the menu at the top it works fine.

Usually the kayfabe explanation is that the match order for the final nights is only preliminary and will be rearranged if necessary based on who is still in contention and how. (The idea being in both kayfabe and reality that you try to have the winner decided as late as possible.)

I checked out the 1989 Rumble (first with 30) and seven years later only four were still with WWF: Shawn Michaels as champion, Jake Roberts returning for a brief run and the Bushwhackers (who at this point in 1996 were 10 days away from their last match.)

It's Peacock Premium Plus. Which is a bit odd as the only difference is something (ads) being taken away.

Most of the time stuff leaves streaming platforms is because it's licensed for a set period, though. One of the key benefits of WWE Network is/was that it owned all the footage so there's no need to remove it.

Piper-Brown is now removed from the non-Peacock original WWE Network. Thumbnails still there but the video skips straight past it.
