  1. Minor psychology experiments? So you're a crap troll basically. Keep on marching to that beat.
  2. Yeah I know. I just don't get this thing where people call wrestlers by the less famous name. Names that haven't been used in years no less.
  3. Bryan worked with both Swagger and Cesaro. I feel they're slightly overdoing these gauntlet things with him. Who's Claudio and Dragon?
  4. I've probably seen worse time limit draws but my least favourite by far is the MVC/Steiners draw at Beach Blast 92. A typically boring MVC match (Steiners at the Clash and the Windham/Rhodes title change are the only matches I enjoyed from their run) that should never have been in the main event slot. The worse thing about it is that it felt like complete overkill following the terrific Roode/Steamer iron man. Odd decision.
  5. I can't remember who I said before in this thread but I've changed it for Jimmy Garvin. The Freebirds were horrible after 89 but at least Hayes felt like he was just a creepy, slightly annoying, past-it rock star. Garvin is one of the most embarrassing examples of a guy 'play acting at being a wrestler' ( or rock star) I've seen. A lousy sack of shit from the Rotunda school of charisma.
  6. In my experience with casuals the problem is less the commercial breaks and more the length of the matches. Everything is a Super Competitive Athletic Contest. I get that gripe. Why The Wyatt Family has to go fifteen minutes with Sin Cara and the bloody Matadors on Main Event I don't know.
  7. I'm sure I read here or somewhere that there are plans to put Dolph in a disgruntled tag team with the Miz. I actually wouldn't mind seeing that.
  8. Ziggler is the epitome of a guy 'playing wrestler'. There's no star quality about him. Nothing stands out apart from his crap haircut and his silly bumps. I can't believe somebody praised his entrance music, which is probably the worst in the company and desperately needs to change into something less generic. I forgot about Orton's in-match promo . I wish they'd flesh out his innate goofiness more often.
  9. Orton/Christian felt like a lazy rehash of their matches from a few years back. Bryan/Cesaro was good but it never seemed to click into next gear, nowhere near as good as their clash from last year. Sheamus vs Ryback was a fun meathead and is worth a look. It's as good a big man match as you'll see. It's a shame that Sheamus has gone straight back to midcard nothingness but it was a fresh match at least. He has a good habit of making his opponents look like stars ready to take on the world, even when they loose. Ryback's top rope splash attempt was the highlight of the show.
  10. The 'change skin' option has appeared now so you won't confuse this with the crap DVDVR message board. Love the addition of tags in the year book threads.I haven't picked up a year book set yet so those threads have been an excellent resource and there value can't be overestimated. There's stuff from Japan all over youtube but I wouldn't know where to start. Cherry picking through Loss's 'match of the month' threads has turned me on to all kinds of good shit. Also, thanks to Loss, PeteF3, O.J, Flick, MJH and even JDW for filling those threads with helpful info and insight into the Japanese scene, cos fuck knows where I'd find it otherwise. And it will only get better!
  11. What is that suppose to mean? People passionately commenting (or moaning) on the internet isn't going to increase ticket sales.
  12. Roddy Piper vs Goldust, backlot brawl. THAT punch! Jake setting the snake on Savage. "THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!" Liz screaming, Piper going mental, Jake slapping Savage and shaking the snake to further agitate it, backed by Vince's most memorable call. Perfect angle. Proper shit me up as a kid.
  13. I think last years Rumble was Ryback's last chance to be something. Some would say it was as far back as HITC, when the 'unstoppable monster' was . . . stopped, in his first big time match. He was a sad sight in that rumble though. They had the opportunity to have him Roman Reigns his way through it. He should have emptied the ring and screamed "feed me more!" until the net entrant. Instead it became obvious in that match that he'll always be just another guy. At least he can still bring us all joy though Twitter though.
  14. Of course I'm correct. And I except the apology for your shit posts. Hilarious. Ahh Ryback As much as I love Bryan and hate how he's been managed, in my heart of hearts, I don't quite see him filling the Top Guy role. The Big Guy on the other hand . . It's a shame what they've done to him. They pulled every trick in the book to bury him (darn it HHH!). Looks like a monster, great promo, best character in the company. Ryback could have been the new top thing.
  15. I'm starting to think that these folk who throw fits and blindly blame everything that they don't like about wrestling on HHH are the most delusional fans of all. And I can't stand HHH!
  16. When was it all rosy fields for you in the WWE then? The seventies? They did FAIRLY good business 1998-2001 Well, The Rock was more jacked than Cena in that period but I'm not sure why you brought up business. I was asking you when did you think the WWE 'was a good company to watch'?
  17. When was it all rosy fields for you in the WWE then? The seventies?
  18. The surprise legend entrants rarely show up on Raw the next night, even if they're friends with the the Evil King Of Kings. Who did you want in there, Jake? the Warrior embarrassing himself? Bruno? They could have had Sting but I guess they want to hold that card. I don't remember Mason Ryan being in the Rumble He is one of the only big time draws left who they haven't milked yet, so when he became available they brought him back . . and he drew. What did you expect him to do on his return? Do the job to Fandango? Yeah fuck Our Lord the Evil King Of Kings and his minions (he isn't even the boss yet!). Dolph Ziggler should be headlining Mania!
  19. Fucking hell Strummer, your mental breakdown from this Bryan situation is quite pathetic. I not sure if putting the belt on Bryan at EC is a good idea. He needs to win it on the big stage if anything, and that's unlikely. Batista swanning in and taking it is annoying but he brings the big numbers. I honestly think it might be too late with Bryan anyway. He should have got the belt last summer. That's when they truly fucked him. Still, I'm happy with HHH/Bryan, with or without the belt, it's the way this tale was supposed to go. Strangely not bothered about Punk leaving. Loved his heel run a couple of years back but he's looked completely rotten since his return and it seemed like he was just getting worse.
  20. The Rhodes haven't been a hot act in ages. Haven't done a promo in months and have been getting pinned every week on TV. I'm always ready to shit on WWE but I had no problem with that at all. Decent little match.
  21. ?? I have know problem with the Outlaws getting the straps at all. The Uso's beating them at Mania will be a good moment.
  22. Just dumped a load of stuff into my list. Haven't got much to say about them right now except: I LOVE the Midnight Express. Always guarantee you something that's at least exciting, fun and often classic. The redneck kung-fu stand off between Lane and Tracy Smothers is one of my favourite moments in wrestling history. They were such a valuable act, especially when WCW went to shit during 1990. Miraculously, Mike Rotunda appears on the list. I have a soft spot for Rick Steiner's mentally challenged rough house act and him beating Rotunda for the TV title was a genuine feel good moment. Jimmy Garvin bores me as much as Rotunda but Flair pulled a wonder out of him (anyone know the date for the 87 cage match?). Flair has just jumped ship in my WCW viewing. Will miss him greatly. Rick Rude's just shown up . . I've hit a roadblock in my All Japan watching. I got up to 1995 and had to give it a break. The matches are tremendous if you're in the right mood but I'm fed up of watching the same bunch of inexpressive guys going at it over and over. Jaguar Yokota really was something special. I used to be fond of the wacky 80s AJW booking style. Still am for the most part. But you see Yokota, Masami and Yumi Ikeshita robbed of potentially great matches and it can grate. -ADDED Nancy Kumi vs Yumi Ikeshita (AJW ?/?/79) Jackie Sato vs Jaguar Yokota (AJW 12/16/80) Mimi Hagiwara , Jaguar Yokota & Jackie Sato vs Yumi Ikeshita, Mami Kumano & Leilani Kai [2/3 Falls] (AJW 1/4/81) JYD vs Nick Bockwinkle & Bobby Heenan (Mid South 11/6/82) Ric Flair vs Jimmy Garvin (Cage NWA GAB Tour 1987) Midnight Express vs The Fantastics (NWA GAB 07/10/88) Ric Flair vs Lex Luger (NWA GAB 07/10/88) Ric Flair vs Hawk (NWA 01/24/88) Midnight Express vs Randy Rose & Dennis Condrey (NWA 12/26/88 Starrcade) Rick Steiner vs Mike Rotunda (NWA 12/26/88 Starrcade) Jerry Lawler & Bill Dundee vs King Carl, Don Bass & Black Prince (Memphis, Evansville Dressing Room Brawl ?/?/88) Midnight Express Vs The Southern Boys(NWA 10/27/90) Midnight Express vs Brian Pillman & Z Man (NWA 05/19/90) Ron Simmons & Butch Reed vs Arn Andrson & Barry Windham (12/16/90 Starrcade) Arn Anderson vs Brian Pillman (NWA 7/8/90) Ric Flair vs Scott Steiner (WCW Clash of the Champions XIV 01/30/91) Vader vs Stan Hansen (WCW Wrestle War 02/24/91) Ric Flair, Barry Windham, Larry Zbyszko & Sid Vicious vs Sting, Brian Pillman, Rick & Scott Steiner (WCW Wrestle War 02/24/91) Ric Flair vs Brian Pillman (WCW Saturday Night 04/13/91) Barry Windham vs Brian Pillman (WCW SuperBrawl I 05/19/91) Sting & Lex Luger vs Rick & Scott Steiner (WCW SuperBrawl I 05/19/91) Arn Anderson vs Bobby Eaton (WCW SuperBrawl I 05/19/91) Lex Luger vs Ron Simmons (WCW Halloween Havoc 10/27/91) Steve Austin vs Dustin Rhodes (WCW Halloween Havoc 10/27/91) Bobby Eaton vs Terrance Taylor (WCW Halloween Havoc 10/27/91)
  23. Fabulous Ones vs. The Moondogs matches are my Memphis brawls of choice. I also love the 'dressing room brawl' with Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee vs King Carl, Don Bass & Black Prince. I enjoyed it more than the concession stand fights because I could actually see what was happening and it didn't go on forever.
  24. Morton was a great promo in SMW. Pritchard was annoying, don't rate him at all. My favourite SMW talker by far is Tracy Smothers. It doesn't matter that he stumbles over every line when you full of that much fire and passion. On topic, where would Michael Hayes fall under? I know there has been some revaluation of him lately. Not sure I'd call him great myself, although I haven't seen enough of his prime years to make a proper judgement.
  25. No! All the music in 80s AJW is fantastic and one of the reasons I'm so fond of that era. I mean listen to this, Dumps theme. It's already a cracking piece of disco funk and out of nowhere the vocals come in and put it over the edge. I love this stuff.
