  1. Not sure why Parv needs "defending". Question 1: Did I enjoy the experience? Question 2: Why or why not? Parv's list essentially is my "Question 2" in a lot of ways. I'll never ask those questions specifically but often those will be reasons that come to mind. So really, I think Parv nailed it on the head more or less. ALSO, I always watch something twice if I want to do a write up on it for no other reason than shotty memory. Even if I have just finished a match things get jumbled or moments don't stick. I write it up while watching it the second time because I more or less know how I feel which gives me direction in my writing but I also might catch something that changes the way I view the match as a whole. Or it might force me to make note of something that I rather didn't like in something that made my brain hurt the first time. Actually putting words to Word Doc makes my opinion more rooted whether that improves on the first match viewing or not. It forces me to really think where it stands in the grand scheme of my wrestling watching for some reason.
  2. GET READY FOR THE RAMBLES! Versatility means a lot to me but that is probably because I don't plan on voting in the "proper" way. I know, you're supposed to have a level of objectivity when it comes to this list, who is actually the best, but if I can't stomach watching a wrestler for a couple hours because I saw their great matches with little making them standout from each other then I'll have a hard time voting for someone or voting for someone really high. What does versatility mean? I think we've come to the consensus that it isn't one thing. I THINK I'm sorta in the same boat with JVK in regards to the All Japan stars. I say sorta because I know he is a massive fan of the matches those wrestlers took part in but the lack of variety will hurt them in something like this. For me, I am not as high on peak AJPW as others. It is great but for me it doesn't feel like the be-all-end-all. I know that is probably sacrilege to some or at least makes one question my opinions. As my list develops more and more it feels like Kobashi is the member of the Four Pillars that will slip. Of the members he seems like the most one-trick-pony of them all. Great fire, wonderful selling, but sometimes I feel like it'd be difficult to find performances that could engage me out of his comfort zone. Maybe I haven't seen enough Kobashi though. Stan Hansen is a weird guy who I feel could go either way depending on if I see more of his stuff outside of AJPW. Vader is the sort of "variety" guy I love. Can go at it with anyone and make it good. He's essentially the same wrestler each time but his wrestling works in a large variety of environments. Same for a guy like Tenryu from what I've seen. Daniel Bryan though...he is a high end TRUE variety wrestler who can anyone's match and deliver something great. That's going to be a big reason why he'll place quite high on my ballot.
  3. Local promotion 2CW is having their last shows on 11/29 in Watertown, NY, 12/17 in Binghamton, NY, and 12/20 in Syracuse, NY. This stinks.
  4. https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling/we-love-too-much Sam is joined by Case and Fray this week to discuss...well that is a truly complicated question that results in one asking the root of any question. You must come to terms with a person's carnal desires. It is then and only then that you will understand what this week's We Don't Know Wrestling is about. What is the purpose of a Dollar Tree? Who needs people? Why am I still alone? We can only hope you feel something during this week's episode. Goodnight. Good luck. 5. *Depth is more important than breadth as long as I don't rank double digit Dragon Gaters. Just wanted to clarify.
  6. I think 2 Cold is maybe an obvious pick. More so that he's been mentioned a bunch. I got to see him live for the first time this year and my lord was it lovely. Thought he was going to bust CJ Parker's nose. Also, I'm mentioning Necro and you can't stop me. He's not just bumps, he's also HAMFISTS! Oh and prime Samoa Joe is prime offense. Virus is someone who consistently leads to me going "Ah fuck" when he's hitting that mat. Heck, even when he's busting out a highspot. Such a lovely meatball of a man.
  7. Well Necro vs Joe is about 5 seconds shy of 10 minutes so there we go.
  8. Who is "We"? Si oem is dead.
  9. I'm scared that things will turn into "I don't think I've done enough to submit a ballot but you really should submit one." or "I'm really interested to see how it turns out" rather than making sure it turns out.

    Atlantis

I don't love Atlantis but I like Atlantis. He doesn't come across half as dynamic on the mat as cats like Satanico, Santo, or Panther but he has a certain aura about him. I'm going to piggy back off my methodology on Psicosis and say Atlantis may be one of the best big match workers I've seen. The classic of him vs. Villano III is the obvious one but an era where you can't really bring blood to the wager match table, Atlantis has dished out two great matches in as many years on the biggest stage in CMLL. I don't know 100% if I'll rank him but I'm certainly not closing the book on Atlantis even if he isn't one of my absolute favorite luchadores.

    Psicosis

I just watched his 1995 match against Santo and it is bloody good. While a lot of it is Santo dominating the match I don't think I view it as well if Psicosis isn't a bit of a mad man. The way he takes Santo's signature offense ranks highly as far as people taking that offense goes. It looks like his head wants to pull away from his body as he comes crashing to the mat off a headscissors. Just so good. I am better at ranking matches than I am wrestlers so I have to find cues sometimes to help me with the organization. It begins straying away from maybe who I feel in my gut are the Top 100 wrestlers into ranking them where I can point to certain things. Psicosis's "thing" is being a part of the best traveling duo I've ever seen. When looking at my list that'll count for at least something like Santo having my favorite signature spots will count for something. As of now will make my list even if I have no idea where.
  12. Just watched him vs. JT Southern. Needless to say he's making my list. EDIT: I also watched him vs. Takayama which for six minutes was a complete blast. Takayama looks like the giant from 300 and that don't get old. Also popped on a match with Tenryu/Araya against him and Iizuka which was friggin' great. His moments with Tenryu were out of this world intense.
  13. https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling/dragon-gate-sucks-eggs-w-th Sam is back with not Tanner since he has some car trouble. This forced good old Case Lowe to come in the clutch. Our special guest this week is Thomas Holzerman from The Wrestling Blog. We talk James Storm in NXT, how stupid I am for not remembering what the TNA World Title Series is, and much much more. 18. https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling Doing rebranding of the WasimCast. Hated the name so we start anew. For the debut episode of the podcast we bring in Al Getz, owner of Whoo Wrestling. I know I'm not one of the big posters here but I'd also really enjoy feedback on the WDKW Postmortem #1. With everyone here being pretty knowledgeable and quite a few good writers here I thought it wouldn't be bad to ask your thoughts. http://wedontknowwrestling.tumblr.com/post/130330586595/wdkw-postmortem-1-i-cant-say-i-grasped-the
  19. IF you've never listened to the WasimCast, well you've missed a bit. LUCKILY we are starting a new podcast which is essentially the same podcast but on our own. http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/wasimcast-fin-sci-recap-questions Tanner and Sam are back with the FINAL WasimCast. They are joined by Ben (@BostonNooga) who is a true satanist if there ever was one. He was live for the very first annual Scenic City Invitational so we break it down match-by-match and see how the tournament shook out. Things such as the greatness of Kongo Kong and the needed expansion of Anthony Henry are on the docket. Also, football sucks mostly. Blame the Giants. We also received a bunch of nonsensical questions and we answer about 95% of them. Oh, the dirtsheets we named. FOLLOW: @4CRADIO @Tanner1495 @Concrete1992 https://soundcloud.com/wedontknowwrestling
  20. All Pro Wrestling just posted their show from Friday on Youtube. Notable matches include Gangrel vs. Tim Thatcher, Dylan Drake vs. MVP, and JR Kratos vs. Chris Masters. This is a stark contrast for APW, where often shows may never see the light of day. Couldn't tell you if this is a push in any direction but I accept this gift while it is here.
  21. I thought he was real good in Mexico under the mask, probably not as good as Kamaitachi currently but still.
  22. My curiosity lies in whether they've got a hair vs. mask match left in them. This match was utterly ridiculous in a manner that even exceeded their first bouts. These guys are REALLY dumb. Like, I love it but MAN were some of dumps in this cringeworthy. Why would they do this to themselves?! Kamaitachi going back to Japan only to get Desperado'd is going to be a real sad day. I may actually cry. Also, CMLL being booked like the shits means this will never be the IT style in the promotion. Not that this is a tremendous style, it is a spotfest afterall. It just seems that Lee vs. Virus is maybe the best match I would associate with being more in line with a CMLL style and without Virus having that belt we aren't getting big title matches even a couple times a year in that vein. What I'm saying is, I wish CMLL was booked less haphazardly.
  23. http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/wasimcast-19-wrestling-is-real-weird Kris Zellner(@KrisZellner) joins Tanner and Sam for another wonderful WasimCast. Secretly this podcast was designed for the kids to sit under the Zellner learning tree. And boy did we learn. We talk about tape trading, Mexican Facebook, Nick Gage, wrestling tournaments, and Sunny. Also, is Big Daddy a real big lad? All that AND MORE on this week's WasimCast. Go to http://www.placetobenation.com for the vast majority of Kris Zellner's podcasts...and boy are there a lot of them. But they are all REALLY GOOD so give them a listen. Between the Sheets, Exile on Badstreet, ect. FOLLOW: @4CRADIO @Tanner1495 @WasimCast
  24. 1. Vader -Tried watching him in a variety of settings for the GWE project and my goodness does he hold up in about all of them. Knocking bastards left and right. 2. Moose -MOOSE! MOOSE! MOOSE! 3. Aja Kong -You aren't guaranteed a great match out but you are guaranteed to question whether she should be wrestling these small ladies. 4. Ric Flair -Heard Flair was good. Theory holds up. 5. Emilio Charles Jr. -What is the opinion on this fella? Never quite figured it out. Never quite knew where to look. Either way, not a lot of imposing lucha fellas from my experiance that aren't just imposing when in brawls. He has a bit of that aura whether he's in trios or in a FIGHTING environment. Maybe I haven't seen enough. But I wanna see more.
  25. Canadia is on fire. Mike Baliey vs. Jack Evans happened at IWS Mike Bailey vs. REY F'N MYSTERIO WILL HAPPEN IN MONTREAL, MARCH 5th!
