This+Politics are most likely the case. Which I get. No problem with that I guess. I could be dead wrong but I'm guessing if we don't get the styles clashes in round one then we might not see many of them at all. After the G1 pumping out a rather SAFE line-up I was hoping that these matches would blow me outta the god damn water. They didn't. Now after round one a lot of dreams are off the table. This tournament had potential for more dream matches than you can shake a stick at from the INDIE DREAM MATCH PROMOTION! Instead we got matches that have or could happen in the near future in other promotions. Start playing for the guys who will be there later on in the semis and finals, something that I could see happening, but doesn't give a lot of room for truly intriguing matches.

BOLA has good matches on it. I think for almost any fan of modern indie wrestling you'll find at least a couple matches that you'd be hyped for. GRAPPLEFRICK: -Chris Hero vs. Timothy Thatcher: They've had good matches before and I don't see that stopping. -Drew Gulak vs. Tommy End: Could be reminiscent of End vs. Thatcher which was real good. Gulak might be able to bring some even more rugged offense. AAA LUCHA-SPOTFESTS -Jack Evans vs. Angelico: Partners probably going to go ballz to the wall. -Pentagon Jr. vs. Drago: This will probably be real good. Assume they'll work a super spotty match but this might be one of the more grounded matches of the ilk in this thing. -Matt Sydal vs. Fenix: Is this a DG spotfest? A AAA spotfest? Doesn't really matter. Looks like a highlight to me. YOUR INDIE MATCHES -Ricochet vs. Zack Sabre Jr.: Two indie darlings going at it in front of a hot crowd. -Andrew Everett vs. Biff Busick: I dig both of them and if this was another setting(NOT BOLA) I'd be a bit more hyped. Then there's other stuff like Mike Bailey vs. Drew Galloway. Drew just looks like a wildcard being different than so many of these people. Agree with Bill that the booking seems lazy. AAA against AAA, EVOLVE against EVOLVE, and no real big styles clashes outside of the Bailey vs. Galloway match maybe. So much talent with opportunities to put together matches we might not see until years down the line when stars align. Sadly we have to wait until R2 to see if we get anything like that. EDIT: In the end it feels like a compilation show over "YOU CAN ONLY SEE IT HERE" sorta card.

How about a dozen or so WoS workers? Consistently present RIGHT NOW. I mean, you could put James Mason or a Dean Allmark on the list but if you value high peaks or the style ZSJ is bringing, a modern take on some older stuff, there you go. EDIT: Or replace "RIGHT NOW" with "within the past 5-10 years".
-
As a positive post, I can totally see Sabre being a guy who could make a ballot based on a more personal pick. Not sure how many people have been as good and somewhat consistently present than ZSJ over in the UK.

I'm going to need to see a ton more of Satanico before the deadline since he is a non-factor in my wrestling watching for so damn long. Luckily YouTube exists with more than enough of his stuff. Two matches I peaked at with him was a wicked fun 8-man match from AJPW in '99 which he wasn't a major factor but he was good when he was in there. At the very least it gave me a look at a lot of peeps that I might wanna dig deeper into. I probably should have just started a thread for GWE watching. We are here there and can't stop, won't stop, ya dig? Him and Casas had a good mat sequence early and since I know so little about Satanico it reminded me I need to give him a gander. This led to me watching him vs. Ultimo Guerrero from '01 I believe and that match is RUGGED! Both men battering each other for about the entire duration. Satanico takes a beating like a son of gun and evokes that sympathy. Satanico has one of those faces I suppose. When of those faces that you can see years of punishment coming through with every hit he takes. Satanico loves me though and hits a wicked senton in the third just to remind me that I'm going to love him on top and underneath. They did a great job playing with the finishes from the first and second which i'll mark for. The best part of this match though might be that from everything I know about him, this isn't close to his peak YET here he is putting in this fantastic performance.

Bless YouTube. Been bouncing around the past few days on that gimmick and watching matches I hadn't seen and 90% of the time didn't even know about. At the very least people don't talk about a ton. My lack of wrestling knowledge is some staggering stuff, ESPECIALLY before the 2000s but I want to get in as much stuff as I can. In the spree, I hit up some Vader matches and his ability to work bigger and smaller is one of my favorite capabilities for a wrestler to possess. Vader can give you 5 minutes or 20+ minutes and I'll be losing my shit for the entire duration regardless. Watched a random match against Dustin from '94 that went like 8 minutes and it was awesome. Dustin takes right to Vader, and Harley Race, and Vader bounces around. In the opening moments Dustin delivers two big slams before getting SQUASHED with Vader's bootylicious behind. Vader is just a bastard so he'll bat Dustin's head around. Obviously both wrestlers are great so Dustin makes everything look great but goodness. Great graps even if the ending is a bit shite. For what it is worth, I really liked what Vader was doing in Japan in 2000. Even afterwards though while he might not have been great he was a fella who would still have an aura about him. Maybe a little less now though him working Heath Slater for a squash a couple years back did get me tingling.

I would rather not watch matches that are considered "canon" or whatever cause they can only meet expectations but never exceed.

Usually I like to wait a day or two to post it here but Fray has turned into a real loose cannon. Not sure what he's going to do next posting on boards without telling the boys the in the back. We brought in Fray and we brought in Dylan. Things get very weird. Things get hot in heavy in multiple ways. Had to take my belt off at one point. Learned that Tank was a Bullet Club mark and Fray is a bit racist. So without further ado... http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/fraysimcast-2-return-of-the-franny I...I don't know what to say. Joined by Fray (@TheFrayMovement) and Dylan Hales (@DylanWaco). Kurt is the global force Dixie Carter is lovely Bob is a fatty The South is Scenic G1 is third-rate at best That Raw segment stunk Make sure to check out: @4CRADIO (4crwrestling.com) @Tanner1495 @SammyJ_D EDITOR'S NOTE: You're going to hit something about two hours in. Feel free to skip ahead 3 minutes.

Who can tell me about Southern States Wrestling? Came across it after watching a Dirty White Boy match and seemed like a hoot of a little indie. They had an episode with a big southerner, Rex Atkins, vs. a Jessie Bieber gimmick that was shockingly good so wonder if there is anything else worth digging into.

Someone should just make a "GWE SAMPLER PLATTER OF PIMPAGE".
-
ALSO, Parv, you might want to follow the thread. Even if it doesn't update it'll be in your "Content I follow" section I believe. If no one is adding stuff to it though (not just updating it) and unless it is helping a bunch of people I totally understand it being unpinned.

Probably worth noting that Dylan and Fray will be on next week's podcast which is sure to be a spectacle.

Was expecting Tanner to post since I gave him the publicity gimmick but apparently that only applies to Twitter. So let's double up with part 2 of #10 AND #11. http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/wasimcast-10-2-wrestlers-of-the-midyear Tanner and Sam are joined again by Johnny (@BohsJohnny) for the second and final part for our midyear wrestling discussion looking to arrange the Top 10 wrestlers of the midyear TOGETHER! Hot takes are made, unforgivable things are said, and objective opinions are made. ALSO, you absolutely must listen to the last 10 minutes for the one and only FRAY delivering some burials of sizable proportions. #ShootWeek ain't over baby. http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/wasimcast-11-rip-sam Tanner and Sam are joined by Bill Thompson(@MOTYPod). Is wrestling art? Should Bill's dog be outside? Why is the Central time zone so terrible? We tackle the heavy questions on this week's WasimCast as well as talk about AIW's upcoming Absolution card. Oh, and Sam gets BURIED 6 ft. under.

Thatcher is working Stone at 46. What in the heck.

If I can remember an earlier card I will put it but I think this is the one. Ten year old me made signs for Lesnar and RVD. One of those sickens me. This week we are joined by Johnny or, as the cool kids like to call him, @BohsJohnny. For part one we discuss our Top 15 matches of the midyear individually. WARNING: Some terrible Sekimoto matches appear. Intro was "Epic Song" from BoxCat Games with some sound clips overlayed.http://freemusicarchive.org/music/BoxCat_Games/ Make sure to check out: @4CRADIO (4crwrestling.com) @Tanner1495 (http://tannerwrassletalk.blogspot.com/) @SammyJ_D (http://spandexarestillcool.wordpress.com/)

I think Beyond is incredibly interesting promotion with cards that are all over the map for better or worse. Usually I can find a few matches that line up with my tastes and I can sink my teeth into on a given card but I also usually will get another few that I completely would not want to be bothered with. Take the card for today: *Grudge Match* Kimber Lee & Shynron vs. Chris Dickinson & Heidi Lovelace *Please Don’t Die* Paul London vs. AR Fox *First Time At Fete* World’s Cutest Tag Team (Joey Ryan & Candice LeRae) vs. Team TREMENDOUS (Dan Barry & Bill Carr) *Fight For Honor* Biff Busick vs. Donovan Dijak *Open Challenge* Death By Elbow (Chris Hero & JT Dunn) vs. The Best Tag Team In The World *Reinforce The Ring* Da Hit Squad (Mafia & Monsta Mack) vs. The Hooligans (Devin Cutter & Mason Cutter) *Scientific Exhibition* Colt Cabana vs. Johnny Cockstrong *No Disqualification* Nick Gage vs. Stockade Bold seems right up my alley and italics is some stuff that doesn't look worth any time at all. And sometimes these ratios can swing every which way but the mentality of the cards typically stays this way. If nothing else they are very diverse. Hero vs. Dreamer seems like one of the bigger wastes of Hero. And 3D and Bucks had the fun little match in Binghamton but also had the not so fun little match in Syracuse so I wouldn't get your hopes up for that. But what do I know?

Usually I wait a day before posting the show here so I can spread things out a little more but I am far too happy with how this show came out to wait. This week were joined by a NEW poster here but a Twitter dot com icon and legend, The Fray Movement. Had an utter blast. http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/wasimcast-9-fraysimcast Tanner and Sam are joined by a very special guest this week to talk the professional wrestling, @TheFrayMovement. He is the main man of #SHOOTWEEK and blessed us with his presence. What do we talk about? Still not sure if we talked about everything or talked about nothing. Pretty sure we talk about TNA Impact/ Double J, Nick Gage, Beyond Wrestling, Alabama, and there are also numerous burials. Thus we obviously cover Dragon Gate to some degree. This may be a BOLD claim but this is the wildest WasimCast yet. You don't want to miss it. Make sure to check out: @4CRADIO (4crwrestling.com) @Tanner1495 (http://tannerwrassletalk.blogspot.com/) @SammyJ_D (http://belowaveragenerds.wordpress.com/)

Hey, maybe if I nominate some people Lanza and SOME OTHERS will post a little. I don't know. That'd be neat. Unlike your false polling though, I don't think people think it is that close, at least those that say cage. But yeah, easily cage. They can get REAL stupid but they also have far greater potential to be great. There are more available routes to take the bout. I don't remember the last time a ladder match got going and wasn't a car crash for better or worse.

When did beauty in itself become art? EDIT: Within the art, there is no end to subjectivity. Appropriating subjectivity to every aspect of life, maybe life itself, seems like a very scary act.

Working on the "KOTAKU SYSTEM" for wrestling matches, be right back... -
Okay, so the new grappling initiative is awesome. Absolutely love it with guys like Thatcher, Busick, and, the important lad for this post, Gulak really driving it home in EVOLVE. Gulak could very well be leading us to an era in indie wrestling where there's a multitude of these types of wrestlers populating the scene, or at the very least can work a grappling based style. Evident in his work with Dojo Wars which has some real fun matches on the whole but when they crank up the grappling they can crank out a CRACKIN' match. Looking at a guy like Conor Claxton as a potential technical deathmatch worker gets me real pumped to see wrestlers that probably wouldn't even touch the style adapt it into environments you would least expect. Really making this post to point to what I am calling one of my favorite indie matches of the year and is up there with Gulak vs. Hero as my #1 indie match. Maybe would have to look at my EXCEL to make sure I'm not forgetting something but YEAH this is good. Conor Claxton/Frankie Pickard vs. Drew Gulak/Tracy Williams.

The Trial Of Paul Heyman (Podcast question)
concrete1992 replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Pro Wrestling
Not exactly sure that still beats the BOLD claim of CZW being a superior ECW. Which has had its own share of poor decisions.
