  1. Okay Stomper, now go ahead and d that for every worker you like that needs a little boost in talk. But really, that is FANTASTIC!
  2. I'm not the only young cat on PWO it seems. OH HAPPY DAY! GWE seems to be doing work!
  3. And I have terrible grammar.
  4. I'm 21 and I've had my views on wrestling changed pretty drastically in that short period of time that we call life. Not going to do a big post cause I'm a scumbag: When I was young my dad had me watch WWF Raw with him. I started getting a bit older, he no longer cared, but Monday night became a bit of a ritual. My bed time would always be a little later that night because the last thing I did before going to bed was getting out the worn VHS tape and putting it into the VHS player and pressing record. Then I got to watch the first segment up to the commercial. It was a helluva time. Also want to include I had no idea about WCW at this time. No other reason just to give you an idea on what I was raised on. MICK FOLEY AND STONE COLD! Now I'm going to be terrible with measuring time but maybe someone can approximate things based on matches. Fell out of love with the GREAT SPORT, as the kids called it because none of my friends were watching it. They didn't NOT like it they just didn't watch it. Stopped recording Smackdown! and Raw and just didn't watch anymore. Wasn't until 2006 apparently, just did a quick google search of a memory, that I decided to give it another go. It was less of a conscious decision and more I stumbled upon TNA at the very end and remembered the good old days. It must of been AJ Styles vs Shannan Moore that I had caught cause I remember Daniels throwing in the towel. The Impact Zone felt different and unique from WWE, I was in again. And DVR. From TNA I branched into indie wrestling through Samoa Joe. I discovered ROH and had no idea what I was looking at. Ordered Joe vs Kobashi after some research. Had never ordered a wrestling DVD before outside of WWE ones from Amazon. It was different. Welp, I gobbled that DVD up and then was into a whole new realm of wrestling I had no idea about before. ROH got me to start watching more critically. I was very much into workrate stuff and was for a long time. Probably up to 2010. Like Davey Richards was my boy and Cena was utter trash. Someone posted the WKO100 on Wrestling Forum and my head started spinning. One hundred wrestlers and a ton I had never even heard of. A good chunk of posters were dismissive but not me. I had no idea why Cena and Henry were so high and had very little clue who Blue Panther was. I didn't feel like I was smart and I don't like feeling that way but I enjoy changing that. Probably didn't look back into WKO too much until 2 Cold Scorpio versus Vordell Walker happened in 2012. I thought it was absolutely marvelous but still had reservations calling it one of the better indie matches of the year for some pre-conceived notion of what a match has to have to be GREAT. That is something for the most part I think I've changed. Heard WKO was all over that match and thought maybe my tastes are more align now and WHAM they were. Probably started digging into lucha at the end of 2012 into 2013 and I feel like a whole new fan. I've almost done a 180 on what I like in wrestling. The guys that didn't change though remain my favorites. Such as Foley and Danielson. You can approach wrestling in so many ways and none of them are at all wrong and that may be my biggest view change. I'm no longer as dismissive and can appreciate where people are generally coming from even if I like some different things in my wrestling these days. PS Not incredibly short.
  5. WELL HEY GUYS! I've been doing a thing where I give my thoughts on matches that I've missed in 2014. That can be viewed here https://spandexarestillcool.wordpress.com/category/ketchup-2014/ Now, I need some help. I'm incredibly indecisive so I'm looking for suggestions. Here's some guidelines if you will: -I want to keep the posts focused on either one promotion, show, or wrestler -I'm looking for things on YouTube or DM -Only promotion I'd like to eliminate from the equation is CMLL. Everything else from indies to Japan to other promotions in Mexico are fair game -Feel free to provide multiple groupings of suggestions. -I'd prefer it be something you think I might like but I'm totally cool with it being some wrestlecrap That's it. Would be really helpful if you guys sent some links. Thanks for either giving the blog a read or giving a suggestion OR doing both if you are really cool. PS I'll be doing another post like this at some point next month for the GWE project. PPS I'll comment a link to each post made based on this thread IN this thread with PWO EXCLUSIVE thoughts. Though those aren't of high value probably.
  6. I have a chart with imaginary values attached to things such as "Worked a variety of styles", "Worked a variety of places", "Meshed with several different types of wrestlers", "Smokes a cigar", "Has quality feuds".
  7. NO WORDS BUT THE LINK CAUSE WORDS AIN'T NEEDED!
  8. FEEDBACK: Will should stop making post towards rovert cause it never looks anything close to good. END FEEDBACK
  9. Okay, so if someone thought that the way to end that Modern vs Past discussion was THAT, well I don't know what to say. I enjoy posting here but that felt pretty shitty.
  10. Not out of the running at all. I mean TNA has killed a large amount of his career which sucks for him and AJ's case but his run as Ace of ROH gives him something to work off at least. And since I feel I'm a bigger fan of Kobashi vs Joe around these parts than most(that is nearly pure assumption) I'll probably be a bit higher on other stuff as well. And while he has this TNA black mark, he has managed to have some pretty darn good stuff there. I don't know how much it would count for in the end but if I watched enough TNA (already setting myself up for not finding out) and he ended up having the top match or at least 2 out of the Top 5 then I think that is at least something of note.
  11. His series with Callihan is one of my favorite indie related things in the past 5 years. Clearly that isn't where a case begins but more an added cherry to anyone thinking of voting for him. Best Callihan matches whose had his own share of quality matches, though not really nomination worthy as an individual.

  13. Be real interesting to see how it works out for them. They are going to be announcing what it'll be looking like production wise it seems. Sorta hoping they start phasing out the DRAGON GATE out of EVOLVE. I like Rich Swann and some others but don't need 17+ minute main events from them showing they can FLY!
  14. I don't think that is 100% on the nose with the "all singles matches" point but it has become pretty evident throughout the year that Gabe is approaching EVOLVE a little differently right now. Trying to imagine how a Thatcher vs Busick match in China comes off to that crowd since I have NO idea if they have this big interest in combat sports or anything.
  15. Has their been a promotion that has tried to run semi-consistent wrestling in China?
  16. Might as well give this thread a boost since indie wrestling seems to be a big issue. SO QUESTION TIME! Is Evolve going to China being incredibly downplayed? When is the last time an indie company went to an Asian market? Would that be ROH? China from the sounds of it is a very hard market to crack into for wrestling. And from the sounds of it they could be in front of their largest crowds to date by a pretty big margin.

  18. I'm still a little confused why people are already against the GOAT Project? There are CLEARLY a good chunk of people who would have Tanahashi, Michaels, Toyota and Angle high...but people would have to vote and it seems people are pre-disposed to think their favorites are already out of the running. EDIT: Not arguing that the initial impression of PWO at face value is not a modern wrestling discussion haven. That is an intended generalization. Sure, there are people that watch it and enjoy it here but if I said my first impression of this board was I'm gonna chat about the helluva year Cedric Alexander is having.
  19. I'm not saying justification for him being great just justification versus a couple other wrestlers of his ilk. That is more of an overall thing that'll come into play in the GOAT Project and WKO100, but sadly since that part of the discussion isn't really apt RIGHT here and since WKO doesn't have much talk going it really isn't necessary right now.
  20. I tried starting a modern indie thread...it died very quickly.
  21. I'm a fan of Titus but I wouldn't say he was anywhere near a Top 10 wrestler in 2014. And yes, art is subjective and yadda yadda but sometimes I don't think it is outlandish to ask someone, in this case Bill, to justify him not just being great but #4 in the world great.

    Cesaro

Yeah, not seeing how he is in the same boat as Thatcher. Thatcher is young into his notable stuff while Cesaro has been around for awhile just depends on how much you enjoyed his indie stuff which either works for him or against him. Thatcher doesn't have a ton to work against him yet.
  23. 1. Everything
  24. So it'd be cool if I started sending messages to people on other boards? Cause that's what I'm gonna do...
