I'm not sure if I'd need a whole hand to count how many Chikara guys I currently consistently enjoy. I still like it on the whole but after the break I'm not sure if it is gonna be a top priority for me when May comes.
-
Would anyone be amused if the 3 pages that Chikara wrote to cover the whole death and rebirth thing is all that is important. If they just never alluded to any of the minor details. Like the 75+ people wrote to try and analyze the story would be pointless.

This used to be a decent sized problem for me. I would end up thinking "That was really good BUT WHAT DID I MISS?!" I've gotten passed that but it took awhile.

A List Of Pro Wrestling Podcast Links
concrete1992 replied to cheapshot's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I was gonna plug my podcast. But I'm not gonna fool myself Rad list there. -
Full agree. Thought this was a neat idea but didn't go on too long sadly

Okay, I wasn't quite getting the hashtag business that Loss was talking about prior to the update but now saying that we can possibly sort that way in the future is CRAZY! PWO you are a beautiful son of a gun.

Voted for the Rhodes/E vs Shield 6-man but the Virus trios match came in at a close-ish 2nd. Had too much fun watching that spotfest. Rhodes crazy double jump placha...yeah. La Mascara/Rush/Titan vs. Terrible/Vangelis/Virus was a good time but simply lost me at points. Virus was the man though in this. Just flat out awesome. Probably my early front runner for WOTY. Dragon Lee/Pegasso/Star Jr. vs. Ccancerbero/Hechicero/Raziel had some flubby stuff. Seeing Hechicero in CMLL was super duper cool though. His twisty backbreaker move was OUCHY! Fun match that I again enjoyed just didn't as much as the prior two with a little bit more flubbed than the others.
-
Finished the TCW Jr. match and it was way better than I expected. Kincaid is someone I "discovered" in 2013 and he wasn't always great but damn if that beard didn't keep me watching. Dylan's thoughts are probably better to read than anything I could say about it haha. But yeah, that FINISH! Vote goes to the Panther vs Casas trios match. Maybe in the minority but enjoyed it even more than the first. Can't wait to see how good Panther's kids eventually become.

Didn't vote for it but Rowe vs. Kongo was much funner than I was expecting. Two guys going at it in a short hard hitting match. And Kongo is beautifully fat.

WHY DO YOU HATE MATWORK SO MUCH?!

Voices of Wrestling "Match of the Year" Poll
concrete1992 replied to W2BTD's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Pretty proud to have been able to participate in this and I have no doubt that next year's will be even better. Lots of hard work done by Rich and Joe and it shows. Can't wait for stuff to start flowing in to watch for my 2014 list. -
As someone you probably likes NJPW more than most around here I'll say I'm surprised by how much you enjoyed Okada vs. Naito, granted I need to rewatch it myself since I was running off 3 hours of sleep and like over 4 hours into the show. On first watch it had one of those issues with NJPW main events in that it feels like it goes long to go long with little meat to keep me attached. And NEXT this probably was one of the weaker major NJPW show from a NJPW fan's perceptive.

Like this! Could be a nice way for me to be able to start posting more.

Hmmm I'll probably have to add to this at some point: -Write more here. Always find it to be a fountain of information and different perceptiveness than I'm used to. To do so leads into... -Watch more past wrestling. I keep up well with modern wrestling but I'd like to dive back into more of the stuff either A)Wasn't alive for B)Wasn't paying attention to. -Finish the 92 YB. Have had it for too long. Need to dedicate some man hours. -Improve my podcast. Keep thinking of topics and ways of engaging our audience -Write more in general. Whether that be for the website I'm a part of or on forums. Need to get those juices flowing more often. -Don't feel they need to go to as many live shows(Fun but gets expensive)

WWE Network finally happening
concrete1992 replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Megathread archive
I just don't see where it's going to pull in fans aside from the Netflix crowd(Well done on that explanation, Bix) or international viewers(who will get blacked out anyway). I think the people who don't pay for it are going to continue to do so and I think the usual people who buy it are going to also continue to do so. Honestly, this whole thing feels like they are trying to undercut themselves. People don't mention it either but you have to factor in the economy these days. There's hardly a bright outlook for most of America right now and people are finding it really easy to cut out media. Obviously this will be cheaper than the current PPV model, but I don't think people are looking to add any more unnecessary monthly bills. I really also have no idea how anyone with a job and kids could possibly ever find time these days to watch shows. The only real pro that I see here is that it should be pretty cheap for them to pull off. They just need to pay for the set up and the server bills. I don't get the idea people are trying to cut costs rather than add costs in respect to the WWE Network. That would be a big bonus in my book. A wrestling fan wants to cut cable but wants to be able to keep up with Smackdown and Raw and all the other shows. Between a Netflix at $8/month and WWE Network at $10/month they would be spending CONSIDERABLY less than if they had premium cable. As the young fans that WWE has targeted get older this technology is going to be something they have a solid understanding of. As a 20 year old I consume 95% of my programming through the internet and that's how I like it. To me, going with the online format could pay off greatly even if it doesn't pay off immediately. -
http://www.wrestlingforum.com/other-wrestl...te-listing.html The whole thread is certainly not necessary to look through but it is a good resource for Indy Wrestling TV shows IMO. Thread isn't very active anymore with the OP deciding to do it on another forum for some reason. No matter, popular promotions are more towards the top. Each promotion has a link to their TV shows online. SAW has been a favorite of mine. The show has some questionable booking choices rather regularly but on the whole I find the product to be enjoyable with talents like The Untouchables, Cliff Compton(being able to work as a fun heel and not asked to put on "athletic" matches), Lords of Kaos popping up on occasion, and Heidi Lovelace coming off as a top female it keeps me entertained. Xcite Wrestling is a local promotion that only has 3 episodes up but plans on releasing more I believe as they get closer to their January 4th show. Beyond Wrestling is your super spotty indy promotion usually they comes out with episodes that they tape in front of the other wrestlers working the weekend. No real stories to attach to on the All Killer Episodes with only a few more on their bigger shows that aren't free which is a heavy drawback IMO. TCW is a promotion I had fun times with but haven't watched in awhile. CWFH is another enjoyable promotion so either would be a fine spot to start. The United Wrestling Network is something I'd keep my eye on if you want to get into this realm of wrestling since TCW and CWFH will be a part of it as well as others and each promotion will have to have a TV deal. There will be UWN champions as well as each promotion having their own. It will essentially be a new NWA. Take that as you will.

OUCH!! Which moves make you cringe when you see them?
concrete1992 replied to ajsmith_7's topic in Pro Wrestling
When Sonjay Dutt hits the Double Footstomp Moonsault he has literally stuck it a few times. Makes me want to throw up a little bit when I see it. -
This week on the Indy Project it was Murray, Billy and I (Sam) and we discussed Hero's re-entrance into the independent scene and what it means. At 30 minutes into the show we interview Steve King from 2CW, which is based out of Upstate NY. The interview lasts about 20 minutes but is certainly worth a listen. We discuss the upcoming 2CW internet show on Saturday, November 23rd. In the last part of the episode we discuss Beyond Wrestling's Tournament for Tomorrow 2 which is taking place this weekend. Here's the link to the show.

I love tricked out matwork. Watching The Colony vs. FIST from '09 was part of my inspiration for the thread since I watched that recently. I loathed it sadly.

Wrestling match HOF??? That's almost outrageous! ... ... ... Meaning I would love to see it from this forum.

I agree. I was hoping that was what this guy would do for Tanahashi. Instead, he decided just asking the question made me an asshole. I wanted to learn something from him. To be fair he went in on why he thought Tanahashi was good in-ring pretty well. Did he? In between his various threats to "retire" from the thread and somehow painting himself a victim? :/ Yep, it is there.

To me, I'd say Jericho, Benoit, and Angle are examples of it. And I agree with the turn around being framed in an unrealistic manner. NJPW maintaining its status while others have dropped so low shouldn't be COMPLETELY off the table. I think the Sumo stat more helps argue how isn't the driving force of a massive turn around than being a solid or consistent draw in the top promotion in a top region for a decent amount of time.
