very strongly disagree the issue as i see it was that the streak had become TOO big to make a new star. doesn't seem like that makes any sense at first...but do you really think the fans would buy a roman reigns or even daniel bryan being the one to end it? giving that honor to a newer guy puts way too much pressure on him - he can't ever job again without it seeming ridiculous, basically, and you don't know whether he'll work out as a top star in the long run. the problem with continuing a winning streak this long is that you leave yourself with almost no credible ways of ending it. a "special attraction" type like brock (or andre in his prime, etc. etc.) is really the only good option there, as you at least know what you're getting with those guys and they haven't been as deeply mired in the 50/50 booking as the rest of the roster has. the only alternative i see an argument for is never ending the streak, which is honestly what i was expecting. Using it to turn Cena heel would had been the best option. I totally agree on this! Cena should have been the one to end the streak. Lesnar was a terrible choice considering Taker put him over almost a decade ago in that HIAC match.

In the UK I remember picking up a July 1990 issue of Wrestling Eye when it was clearly only April 90. That's October 12th 1985 isnt it?

I remember the time I phoned the WWF hotline in the 1990s and they were talking about Bret & Macho wrestling in Japan over the belt. Wasted opportunity they could have done this on a TV taping for broadcast.

Yeah was just wondering about WWF wise themes from the 1980s. Didnt Dusty's American Dream song get edited with the Wheel of Fortune song or was that just for the Anthology series? I could have sworn I heard Demo's theme edited for the heel version which is odd as Derringer did that yet Hogan's Real American is ok.

Whats the prediction for Mania? Do you reckon Hunter really will put Sting over? Id like Sting to appear on TV a bit more but I guess his contract dates doesnt help that.

The Rock'n'Wrestling cartoon theme. It was mentioned right in the post above yours. Real American was originally for Windham and Rotunda, but they didn't last long with it. Kamala also had his jungle music in 1986 if that counts. Just tuned into Cham Wrestling from first week of sept 85 and Randy finally has his music. Hopefully Bulldogs get theirs soon. I went through a old house show from 85 and Hogan has his cartoon theme from the Boston october show when he wrestled Bundy so I presume the change happened then. Did Windham/Rotunda have the theme on any TV taping that may have been televised?

Whats everyones take on this? For years Ive always hated RD Reynolds for making that book as well as the wrestlecrap (His Opinion) stuff as just seems like they just take the piss out of stuff I enjoyed as a kid back in the day. Mind you Ive never read the books just heard about them through reviews and stuff. Might be a misconception on my part but I wouldnt want to read a book that makes me so angry id want to just toss it in a trash. How much stuff leaked out through these live feeds? No idea when it started but I recall one from 98 Feb time may have been a early one and Ive heard for years there is a possibility someone may have the Owen/Angle dark match. Ive seen a list of what a few people have but always wondered how much got leaked out

When did Hogan change his theme from Eye of the Tiger to the Rock n Wrestling theme? I gather he had this as his theme as it was featured on the first Album. I know Real American played at Mania 2 so there must have been a change somewhere.

What a waste. If Taker wrestles again, what a waste. If Brock loses the title before Mania, what a waste. 2014 from the day after WrestleMania going forward was been wasted opportunity after wasted opportunity. The only person who could had booked this worse was Vince Russo. At least we get good matches. It also seems a waste if he drops the belt to Reigns who just isnt ready yet. The streak ending was a big deal and Brock losing to Reigns at mania wont look as important to last years moment.

Why would WWE supply him with footage that none of us will probably see? I know hes a writer/Journalist but this just seems a odd thing for WWE to do given that footage happened over a decade ago and its not like it will fit in with his newsletter. People who work in WWE request stuff and they never get their requests filled ie the NXT guys.

I was just watching a old WWF show and was wondering what themes did WWE change when WWE 24/7 was around for the WWE shows? Obviously they changed Eye of the Tiger to Real American and the SNME intro from the Obsession one to their own version that got used in later ones. I noticed Hillbilly Jim's catchy Dont go Messin was changed to a custom one im guessing cos Jimmy Hart wrote it and JYD's Queen song was changed to Grab them Cakes but are their any other themes they changed for old school shows? Naturally anything Taker wise ie Kid Rock/Limp Bizkit would be changed to Dead Man Walking.

I gave up on the 3 hour Raws a long time ago. If im going to watch a current Raw I will check out a edited form ie the 2hr show because there seems to be a lot of dribble and replaying stuff that isnt needed. At first I would have welcomed 3 hours but they arent giving extra matches its just more backstage stuff. Its a shame really as back when WCW did their first 3 hour show I remember being royally entertained I got a extra hour and had wished Raw would have followed back then with a 3rd hour. How is it in 2015 WWE got it so wrong with 3 hours? It wouldnt be a big loss if Raw went back to a 2 hour show.

From memory I think he pinned Luger at the Survivor Series alough not sure why he would be against losing to Bret when he did job to Michaels on Raw. Didnt Bret and Bundy clash on Superstars? Thinking about old school themes apart from JYD, Piper, Uncle Elmer, Slaughter, Hogan, Windham/Rotunda & Orndorff did anyone else get theme music during the mid 80s? I would love to however the only guy I know who has it is Landy and he point blank refuses to sell to me. Ive no idea why because Ive had no run ins with him at all. If I ask someone else to get it for me they tell him im wanting it and he wont do it for them because he knows they are getting it for me. I dont get why people have to be like that at all. If you have stuff share it. Its even getting to the stage id offer 700 quid to him for it. If I had to fork out a grand to get him to change his mind I would seriously consider it. Considering Vince had planned for a long time to want Flair/Hogan for Mania it must have been a oversight on his part having a slot written into someones contract so it couldnt be done.

Do you think that's the only time they were in the same building or something? Some of your posts leave me scratching my head mate. Im not sure. Given Takers debut at the 1990 Survivor Series and Andre blowing his knee out in Japan I dunno where else they would have been i the same building. Shame he got hurt in Japan and had to pull out of the Rumble. I know a taping in March 91 had Andre there during that Perfect/Michaels match. Wrestlemania VII is the obvious memory of both being at the same PPV. Apparently during the UK tour of 1991 Andre did tag up with The Rockers, and lets not forget the MSG show where Jake had Andre in his corner while Taker wrestled Warrior.

I don't know what Dave could really have that no one else doesn't WWF wise. The only way would be if someone from inside was hooking him up with stuff that was taped but not aired, which doesn't seem like it would be much. I could see him having some stuff from other territories or Japan that the recorders missed. Probably doesn't matter though as I'd think most of his stuff is ruined anyway from sitting in his shed, OUTSIDE, for 30 years. I remember him talking about seeing the Bret v Tom Magee match on tape at some stage. Fairly sure he's in a minority there... What was signifficant about this match? Was this Bret's first ever WWF debut? Dave said that Tom Magee looked great in this match and WWF couldn't wait to push him cause of his body. But they realized that he wasn't good and that Bret made him look good. A google search suggested he was being billed as a potential Hulk Hogan. Never seen him wrestle so I wouldnt know.

Oh is that what Back to the Territories is all about. I did wonder. Hope they do this as a continuation. As for the 1970s I dunno why Graham didnt cover more of this. Couldnt they just get Pedro to cover 70 - 75?
