Good solid match. Britt v. Soho is going to be great
-
Yeah, by the second time he was using the "going to do what Melanie should have done" phrase, I was like dude we get it
-
Like the mirror version of a 2000 Foley promo
-
One of the reasons some of MJF's nasty burns don't really land for me is because I have seen him on Twitter and he just doesn't seem witty enough to come with them on the fly. They seem therefore very rehearsed, in a promotion where most promos sound natural and authentic. It's an issue with me, I admit.
-
Yeah, I don't really like the content. I don't know if shitting on the promotion and all its wrestlers is good heat. Jim Cornette would never use the term vanilla midget for instance. And it makes no sense for him to shit on smaller guys, given his team's biggest star right now is Dustin Poirier, who is 5'9" and fights at 155 pounds.

He is he owner of MMA's biggest gym. He is not particularly well known outside of MMA circles, but he has always been a great performer, and they are basically using him as a Jim Cornette surrogate

Imagine Hobbs v. Big E. The Khans need to open the final forbidden door
-
Fuck yeah this ruled so hard! Everyone was awesome here, including Hobbs and HOOK, who just looked very very handsome

That Miro-Kingston package was awesome and I am glad that they are extending the feud. However, this is where AEW's breakneck booking and formatting of their shows is a bit much for me. I would have preferred two minutes of the commentators discussing this before CM Punk's music hit.

I thought it was perfect in terms of being a very good match but at the same time leaving zero doubt that Black is better
-
Dustin is so good man
-
I am most interested in how they fit in a returning Hangman in the picture.
-
Yeah, Omega topped the PWI 500 over Reigns.

He is fine as a goofy midcard heel. It's when he is endlessly programmed against someone like Roman that he becomes unbearable.

Fun fact: Bollywood blatantly ripped off Final Countdown, but used it in a romantic/seductive context. I use that loosely, cuz this was late 80s Bollywood and pretty much no intimate touching was allowed. I believe Europe has never got a dime out of this. You win some, you lose some. Anyway, enjoy:

If this is the new direction NXT is going in, then I am glad Hunter lost power cuz this rules hard

RIGHT after I make a big post about how Vince clearly has been high on him throughout and will try his best to keep him signed. Ah well, Vince will probably do that anyway. January is a long time to offer a deal, and Owens doesn't seem to strike me as someone who would leave. I am sure he will use his connections to leverage a better deal from Vince, but I cannot see him leaving. Do people really think he would be pushed and featured more prominently in AEW than he has been in WWE throughout? I honestly cannot see that.

Sting used the words Mucho Respect on live national TV. Can you ever imagine HHH being a cool enough dad to say that on live TV. No, he'd be incorrectly using based and lit

Speaking of.... Look who is 'liking' in a clear example of passive aggressive behaviour, a tweet mocking his booking on a show Coach Tony K has explicitly stated is also the A-show

I remember one early spot copied completely from the Bret-Kid match, including Punk's facial expression
-
This event is awesome just because it got Jimmy Redman to whip out one of her legendary long recaps. They are always awesome. I think Punk was winded but managed to recover and get going by the end. Christian has always been much better than Punk (at least mechanically and in terms of consistently good matches) so the appropriate current analogy is probably Edge. I thought Edge looked better at his Rumble return, but returning in a Rumble is different from a singles main event in the show of the year. Then the pandemic hit and Edge didn't have a true big singles match until just now this year, and he had got some reps in by then. I think it will be crucial to book him in a story-based feud with a lot of character work and promos, as everyone else has also said. MJF v. Punk wouldn't be a bad feud. He can help fine tune MJF's character too; make it more focused and give it some proper motivation.

Also, you know who else thinks Wyatt is a midcard act? Something tells me Windham Rotunda won't be running roughshod over this roster anytime soon

I had the same feeling for the Mox and King entrance at Double or Nothing this year. One of the greatest experiences of my life

I think WWE would make a strong move to keep Owens. Unlike a lot of Hunter's indie signings and NXT callups, Vince has always seemed to like Owens. He has always been pushed and featured prominently. Vince took shoot headbutts at a million years of age to get Owens over. He also got numerous visual victories over Roman in their feud this year, which indicates that they want to protect him. With Sami, I don't think WWE tries that hard. He is certainly stale and overexposed, but he has the advantage where he can just put on his mask again and instantly change his look. El Generico has never worked for WWE after all.

I also don't know how to rate Allin-Punk from a conventional wrestling match perspective. The first few minutes, the crowd seemed so excited for everything Punk did, and also so scared that something might go wrong, it's very difficult to rate for me.
