Salina was there, she and Park came out to announce the cash-in there.

I had the same feelings as you guys on the 2/3 falls match. Surprisingly poorly structured, terrible finishes to the falls, no heat at all. And long to boot! I'll admit, the Dynasty against the Von Erichs is an intriguing matchup, though, and they set up Hart-Aries for the PPV. @TonyPulis'Cap, staying up to all hours with a new baby is actually how I ended up getting into MLW when it started last year. It's an excellent show to just sort of watch in the background while taking care of a newborn. If you're looking for episodic wrestling TV to fill more time, PCW Ultra's show on Youtube is also pretty good and doesn't require a lot of mental investment.

I guess the flip would be that it's a great dishonor to lose it, so you wouldn't want to take the risk of losing. Although that's not a very noble thought process in kayfabe.
-
At this point, absolutely. But I think everyone is super aware of that, and the guys that matter are going to get paid in short order.
-
Agreed. I'm guessing ROH is throwing money at guys to keep some semblance of a roster, and unless you think you can pop in WWE (Cole, Riddle) or need a change of scenery (Kushida), it's hard to say no to an amount that could allow you to be comfortable for a long time while working a pretty light schedule. Now, is his career going anywhere in ROH? Probably not. Look at how they've struggled to use Dalton Castle since he lost the title. But there's other things to pursue in life beyond your career.

Archer falls more in that Shawn Spears space where he's a mid-card guy that can be added to the mix and (potentially) turned into a star. Del Rio's not a guy that can just get worked in.
-
It was not particularly good. They worked hard enough but it was paint by numbers stuff, nothing lost in skipping it.

"CMLL has trademarks for both the Rush and Dragon Lee names, which means they will likely be using new names going forward. Rush already has bookings for both KAOZ and The Crashunder the name El Toro Blanco." https://www.f4wonline.com/mexico/rush-and-dragon-lee-released-cmll-293471

Part of that, I think, is AEW locking up so many teams and not running many shows. It's certainly the best thing close to a straight tag match this year - the other matches in the conversation would be the two PPV Lucha Bros-Young Bucks matches, the Lucha Bros-LAX Full Metal Mayhem match, and the Briscoes-PCO/King street fight, only one of which even had tags.

I'm not sure Rush getting the title means anything for Taven - Rush was clearly the right option (not that that's usually ROH's way of doing things). Meltz has reported Taven getting a pretty large offer from ROH, well above what top NYXT guys are making - WWE can match it, but will they? Rush leaving CMLL would definitely suggest to me that he's not sticking around ROH, as the CMLL-ROH connection seemed to be the main reason he went there in the first place. Is this all related to CMLL being pissed that Dragon Lee did BOLA because AAA guys were on the show?

The Rock'n'Rolls in the World Tag League would be intriguingly bizarre.

Shooting yourself into a work?

I think it matters if the lineup ends up being even somewhat disappointing. It's very possible to go from having fans who buy the minute tickets to go on sale to ones who wait and see (and maybe never purchase at all). Look at the way ROH's advances have nose dived (not to say NJ is in imminent danger of that). There's a such a hierarchy to New Japan shows, from very important to total house show, and it's pretty hard to tell in advance where any individual US show is going to fit (unless it's a G1 night).
-
They keep raising prices as the show gets less interesting. Not a great combo for ticket sales.

Watched the show on AXS - breezy and enjoyable, although nothing essential. First hour is the 3 undercard matches, which were all fine (liked the heeling of the Impact guys in the six man), then Taya-Tessa and LAX-Lucha Bros are good renditions of matchups that haven't before and better, and then the two main events were kinda what you'd expect for both (and not really my cup of tea). (If you're watching on AXS, they tacked on an Impact vs. AAA match from earlier this year after the main event, although I haven't watched that yet.
-
I know they sold out two of three shows immediately, but waiting until a few days before to announce any matches for the US shows is not a great look.

Shane Taylor's been bought out of his contract. Not sure what the deal is there. https://www.rohwrestling.com/news/official-statement-status-shane-taylor-and-roh-world-television-title

Haven't seen the J Cup yet, but mostly agree on the other points. Really dug the Jr tag match from today, would be pretty excited to see more of both teams. I will say, I didn't really love the KENTA-Ibushi match. Just felt like we'd seen the formula of "sneak attack -> near falls -> interference gaga -> near falls -> babyface comeback" done in a similar way a couple of times this year and the match never totally clicked for me. I do think KENTA's done a great job of embracing the lead role and he and White at the top makes the BC more effective as heels than they've been in years.

The numbers all run together, but at least the majority have been good, ahead of Raw in the markets where WWE has been recently.
-
I'm also a little surprised it didn't sell out fairly quickly - maybe not with the insane demand of All Out, but within a day or two. I guess the holiday weekend travel aspect may have been underrated in the first three sellouts?

That's sort of the ROH model most weeks now and what I've seen of it works fine.
