They are really late in the game to flip that switch of promoting the AAA show when they're two weeks from the national TV debut. I mean, I'd love to see it happen, I'm likely to go to that show and any AEW involvement would be pretty sweet, just doesn't feel too likely.
-
I really doubt AEW wants to step on them doing their own MSG show, which will likely happen eventually. Nor do they want to be connected to a show that is pretty likely to be half full at best.

Looking back, I think the big misstep with Becky might have been giving her both belts in the Mania match. Cool visual, but then it meant the functioning of the show required her to lose quickly to get one off her. So instead of being able to come out of Money in the Bank looking like a badass, she loses and her segment swung into being about Bayley. They compounded that by doing three and a half months of her and Lacey Evans; one might have been fine to give Lacey some rub, but Becky's literally been locked in that program from Mania until like two weeks ago.

They've announced Amazing Red for the Super J Cup, which should be fun.

I really think you underestimate how bad the set of options were to beat Brock that a) were at least somewhat engaging and b) seemed like someone Vince could plausibly get behind. If not Roman, who a lot of people were pretty tired of... who? They killed off Strowman. Didn't seem like they'd give that slot to Bryan. Rollins was someone who was at least over in his role and kinda fun to watch. He's obviously been a disaster on top for a lot of reasons, but I think the decision to have him win the Rumble and beat Brock was defensible.

Also, I watched with the English commentary and it... wasn't bad?
-
Is there any reason why? Seems really odd.

When I interviewed him last year, he also referenced Tully and Flair. The guy knows the classics. (He also referenced Chris Candido, which makes a ton of sense when you compare the way both guys work physically.)
-
What are the rules when multiple people are tied, though? There's a chance that a lot of guys are at 12, and their losses to Okada might not be deciding factors. (Not saying this is at all likely, just that the math would be that they haven't officially been eliminated.)

Man, Cody has been lights out on the mic this year. Just an exceptional run.

Those who knew him had some wonderful things to say about him. I interviewed the Beer City Bruiser and he couldn't have been more eloquent about the impact Harley Race had on his life.

WWE TV 07/22 - 07/28 RAW Reunion! Candice Michelle is back!!!

I think where that match got off the rails was the Cody and Dustin heat segment. The first heat segment worked really well because the Bucks, playing heel in the match, were slowing things down to play against their expectations. (And, to your larger point, the Bucks using southern tag team formula in that way is only an option because they don't use it all the time. If it's every match, there's no heat in it.) -
That and the fact that the video quality on the Three Way Dance looks like an RF dub.

Joey Janela isn't a "bad dude." He's a lovable nerd who'll do anything to be like his heroes.

It is fine if you don't want to watch AEW. And as we watch, we can all discuss what we're enjoying and what we're not. It's the people who say "they will fail if..." and then add the thing they don't like about AEW's presentation is incredibly, incredibly stupid. It's a way to make your personal preferences seem important. The Elite have succeeded so far doing things their way, mixing comedy and drama. They're smart. I would trust them over the people on a message board. And if they fail, it will probably be for a myriad of reasons that aren't just "no one liked the Librarians."
-
But don't you know, it's the people who don't watch AEW who know exactly what they need to do to be successful.

Dead on. Seth is the ultimate stereotype of an ROH worker. -

It is exceptionally sad that WWE's "best" shows are when expectations are low. WWE: Don't Get Your Hopes Up! -
Neither was at the Chicago show, but both were at the NY show (which they should start using in the next couple of weeks).
-
Just a guess, but I'd bet they want the instant sell out for the first show, and then they'll try and use that to sell tickets quickly to the next set of shows.
-
Yeah, the question of ticket sales will be a much bigger deal on week 2. The real open question for ticket sales has always been what they look like when an AEW show stops being "special" and becomes simply a weekly thing. Week 1 is special, week 2 far less so.
-
They also sold out Philly. There's a few tickets left for Boston, but not many.
