    WWE Hidden Gems

Is it a full pro shot? Does everything have commentary?
  2. They run out of taped TV the Friday before Slammiversary. I guess they could do a clip show the week after Slammiversary, then tape six weeks of TV in those three shows you mention. The Windsor shows, by the way, aren't on their website, so if they've been announced they are doing a pretty piss poor promotional job. They really need to step up that area of their game, the NY shows I think had pretty heavy paper to get a decent crowd (I knew a good number of people who were there for free, including in the front row), in part because you needed to be very on the ball to know the shows were happening.
  3. I'm wondering if the lack of dates lined up for after Slammiversary indicate that they're going to take a break before a relaunch on the new network.
  4. 1) He could lose the IC Title on the way. 2) Perhaps more likely, if Naito is going to succeed in holding both belts - an IC Title match headlines night 1, and the IWGP title match headlines night 2. So Naito has to go through two matches to succeed and they get two main events out of the story. I guess there's also the possibility he loses the title case on the way to the Dome, although that's never been done.
  5. Flyin' Brian to the Loose Cannon.
  6. I think it points to Naito being the favorite to get the shot at the Dome.
  7. One of whom is Simon Gotch for some reason? Instead of them just yelling every week, we couldn't get some motivation from Simon about why this is happening? Or where he met up with these guys? Or anything? Also, Tom Lawlor cuts really shitty pissed off promos.
  8. I like Callihan quite a bit in his role on Impact (stable leader, angry heel who gets comeuppance in good match on every big show). MLW seemed to run out of stuff with him after the mercenary deal ended, so I don't think him leaving would hurt much, other than that MLW's depth seems to keep dwindling. I'd guess they're going to lose MJF and Havoc in the fall, too. I'm not sure what I'd be sticking around for at that point, other than Teddy Hart doing Doomsday Canadian Destroyers (which, admittedly, are amazing).
  9. I don't know, man, that show is pretty popular. I've watched a few episodes here and there with my wife, and I'm certainly aware of who Toby is.
  10. White vs. Naito is for sure a semi, probably straight up (although I have a hunch that they make Ishii vs. Taichi and Juice vs. Moxley meaningful too, perhaps with the underdogs in those pairs costing the big guys a chance at the block). The A block feels like it's definitely coming down to Okada-Ibushi and Ospreay-Tanahashi.
  11. Another instant sell out.
  12. Seems worth noting that Impact has no shows announced past the next PPV, which is less than a month from now. Hard to draw crowds if you don't have more than a few weeks to promote a show.
  13. That is quite the underestimation.
  14. Actually, what I like about AEW is that they don't seem to have guys purely shooting for that stuff. Other than Sabian-Guevara, nothing on Double or Nothing felt like truly generic indy MOVEZ~! matches. There might be some filler of that type on the TV show, but that won't be the big matches.
  15. Partially so - it was a mix of matches from the Thursday and Friday shows of Mania weekend (almost all the April/May episodes were).
  16. I think the particular problem is that the line of logic isn't "I'm going to have a great match!" it's "I'm going to have a great match based on the prescribed set of standards set by one guy."
  17. From the numbers in the Observer, they didn't exactly bomb, but they're running buildings that are way too big (and lighting them like they're full) when they're essentially back to where they were a bunch of years ago (they can draw 500-700 a show and not much more most of the time).
  18. It felt like an evolution of a sort was what they were trying for in the main event, although it only half-worked.
  19. I am pretty excited for the Tessa-Callihan match they are building to (presumably for Slammiversary).
  20. Is that true? I don't recall people talking about Dixie Carter's years of reading the dirt sheets and flying up to the ECW Arena. Even Billy Corgan never expressed the depth of knowledge I've seen from Khan. Skepticism is always fair in a new venture, but Khan seems like a deep level nerd in a way that does seem unique.
  21. Yeah, put me in with the group who thought it was great but not a MOTYC. It really built nicely, though - at the beginning I figured they were going shorter and was feeling a bit disappointed, but they really took their time and built the drama. Definitely a classic debut.
  22. Specifically, he got a tongue lashing from a guy who's attempted to start riots! Who's whole thing is that fans are supposed to hate the heels! It's really weird.
  23. The angle on the live show tonight with Contra certainly was... something. Not sure I loved it but nice to see Court back to taking weird risks.
  24. He talks in his most recent book about pitching Impact on using his formats to try and get guys over in a different way, and getting turned down. I think he said this was in the 2010-11 range.
  25. I'm apparently the outlier, as I find Contra dull as shit and lacking in motivation. Fatu is obviously a talent, but I have zero interest at all in watching the other two wrestle.
