  1. I has to look this up, and holy shit, you're right! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0234740/
  2. SaudiMania main event? Hope so, so I can skip it.
  3. Being "legit" means nothing in professional wrestling, Anthony, NOTHING. Try being entertaining, you bleeding wanker!
  4. Reading this interview with Matt Cardona about AEW not signing him made me wonder if that was one of many little things that frustrated Cody Rhodes in AEW. https://slamwrestling.net/index.php/2022/09/13/no-aew-deal-led-to-death-match-cardona/ While in hindsight it was a blessing in disguise for both AEW and Cardona that he wasn't signed (he would've been relegated to Dark and Elevation duty by now, if even that, instead of refreshing his character and revitalizing his career with a hot indie run), it wouldn't surprise if me it chapped Cody's ass to see a bunch of useless geeks who are friends with Omega and/or The Bucks get signed while his buddy and a proven name got passed over.
  5. Not even remotely equivalent IMO. Page is a former World Champion who has beaten Danielson in the past. With that said, I highly doubt Mox squashes Sammy. That's not really what the AEW audience goes for anyway.
  6. The "Jew Boy" promo, even though it was ultimately a swerve, proves that MJF has the chops to be an amazing babyface. He just needs to turn his vitriol toward the heels.
  7. I hope AEW goes scorched earth and makes douchebag rape fantasy Spanish Justin Bieber lookalike and Jericho underling Sammy Gueverra the World Champion, just so I can sit back and soak in the lulz from the internet as it loses its collective shit. As much as Sammy has channel-changing heat with everyone (including me right now), at least the little shit is halfway decent in the ring. The reign would flop harder than Randy Orton's first, but it would make for an amazing MJF coronation if he finally leans into the cheers and lets Jericho teach him how to be a face (lol).
  8. The inclusion of white in the logo makes me optimistic that we're going to get the best of both worlds.
  9. I assume this is kayfabe? https://www.instagram.com/p/Cid_V1SOF_N/
  10. Bryan has main evented WrestleMania several times. Punk never has. Their "outside celebrity" is about the same (minor film and TV roles for Punk, reality TV for Bryan). Fan support is arguably the same, but you can twist the metrics to make a case for one or the other. I won't bother doing that.
  11. Tony Khan's two biggest mistakes: Letting go of Cody Rhodes, clearly the only grownup in the room among the EVPs and the only one with business acumen and mainstream connections outside "da bidness." Making CM Punk the champion instead of the far bigger star and better wrestler Bryan Danielson (although there's an argument to be made that AEW should have stayed the course with Hangman's reign because he was a homegrown star with an organic groundswell of fan support).
  12. Well, not being on Dynamite, Rampage, and PPVs also takes away a not-insignificant chunk of their "canon." So, at this point, I don't see what difference it makes that BTE isn't around either. Obviously, looking at the bigger picture, BTE's hiatus means The Elite probably won't be back for a while - if ever. That's crazy to think about, and it would be even crazier if all of the EVPs somehow ended up in WWE within a year.
  13. Well, Dom still sucks on the mic. That Alien shot with Rhea was great though.
  14. I joined this in progress with Finn vs. Riddle. Did I miss anything good before that?
  15. I disagree. I'm no Hager fan, but he brings infinitely more value to AEW as a bodyguard/heater than Bobby Fish, Tony Nese, and dull as shit types like that have ever brought as wrestlers.
  16. MJF said he can use his chip at any time. I think he Seth Rollins his way into the finals and wins.
  17. Sammy beats Darby. Imagine doubling-down on this guy. Read the room, Tony, instead of just staring blankly around it.
  18. Bobby Fish continues to embarrass himself. He has also, apparently, aged 20 years since his last AEW appearance. https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/bobby-fish-says-cm-punk-was-c-after-their-match-thinks-punk-s-mma-offense-insulting
  19. Some hot takes here. My thoughts on a few of them: Why? He may be a disingenuous asshole, according to people who know him or fans who have run into him when the cameras weren't on, but all he did in this case was be a fifth wheel jabroni for The Dark Order. This is a scorcher. There's nothing likable whatsoever about Mr. "I want to rape Sasha Banks" Gueverra. I don't always love MJF's shtick, but I'd push him over Andrade easily. Andrade brings nothing to the table outside of in-ring performances, and even then, I can't think of one great match he's had in AEW. It more and more feels like his stone cold classic with Johnny Gargano was an anomaly. Nothing he's done before or since in the U.S. has had any impact.
  20. Something I've been wondering: What happened to Dan Lambert? Did he get Tullied?
  21. And who trained Danielson? Yes, Shawn Michaels, but Danielson credits Regal as his true trainer and mentor. Actually suggesting that no one should go to Regal is pretty absurd.
  22. Did Christian borrow those boots too? Apparently the same injury as Punk and same long recovery time.
  23. No heat on Storm by management or the other wrestlers is obviously what that meant.
  24. Only if Mauro replaces him. He and Garcia are...fine. But I don't see the big deal about either of them.
