  1. Lawler calmly returning with the bat is so amazing. Such a great way to end the segment.
  2. The crowd totally makes this worthwhile. Their anger is palpable a few minutes in and they just continue to pelt the ring with garbage the rest of the way. Zeus has the worst looking strikes of any wrestler ever.
  3. Kawada still seems like he's trying to break the juniors mold here. He's got more heavyweight things he can do, but ends up going back to his juniors highspots against Jumbo down the stretch because they are what he has left to do. It ends up costing him the match, which may or may not be good booking. More likely it's just Kawada didn't have what he needed yet to carry off a finishing sequence without going back to where he had been. Misawa is still half Tiger Mask. He's got some of the signature Misawa traits, but he also seems like he's trying to figure out how to go about distinguishing himself from the mask. I liked the later part of the match where he goes wholesale into using elbows to stop Jumbo's comebacks. You can see he's finding something there. Jumbo is great, letting Misawa and Kawada have enough to look good, but giving back in spades when it's his time. Yatsu is just....there. He doesn't seem to want to let Kawada do much at all besides hit him a few times. Kawada seems like he gets a little pissed off about it.
  4. Post-match blows away the actual match. The chinlock killed pretty much everything early and the women didn't get near enough time to make the premise work.
  5. That kick to the back of Tessa's head was extremely well-executed. And highly uncomfortable. Tatum continues to be the biggest douche of 1990, which is quite the accomplishment. Oh yeah, I even said verbally (despite being the only one in the room) "there is no need for a ref bump, let alone two."
  6. Owen screwed up big time setting Mutoh down for the moonsault. Then Mutoh didn't have enough time to move before he had to stop. Brilliant. Either way, some nice suplexes by Owen to go along with a meandering match.
  7. I'm pretty sure Valentine was wearing sunglasses so he could hide the fact that he was almost in tears. Jimmy seemed to be getting into it though.
  8. I second getting rid of Craig. That guy irritated me from the instant he replaced Marc Lowrance. Great promo by both Austin and Jeannie.
  9. Pringle does well, but it's jarring after him being the PBP guy last week. I know the promotion was on a budget, but really? You couldn't hire a guy to announce for one week? Bring somebody from Memphis side?
  10. Was wondering why Orndorff didn't get to talk. Nobody gets ripped off this time, dammit!
  11. Jim Herd knows a lot about wrestling and how to make money putting it on TV. Or so somebody thought.
  12. DWB is such a great promo. I love his intensity and aggrression even when it comes to body language.
  13. Dawna is a lot of fun as an interviewer for all the wrong reasons. She's uncomfortable and almost seems lost half the time. But she's a blast to watch.
  14. Better match than hoped and Lawler is clearly a face now. I'm guessing at least 75% of Memphis is relieved.
  15. That Heenan promo was a tad too homoerotic. Perfect could cut a damn good promo in his way. He didn't have much flash, but he got across the right idea for the character.
  16. Ole needs to go as the Horsemen manager. He's not adding anything at all, and there are times he takes things away.
  17. Toni outshines Chris on the mic no matter how hard he tries to get fired up. I liked his threat aimed at the Austin fan though.
  18. Great matches for how short they are. Could have done with much more.
  19. Thing for me about this match was that everyone looked really limited with a few exceptions. But they worked the 10 man tag aspect of ti well enough that you never got too much of the limitations. Everybody got to really play to their strengths and to me it was one of those "sum > parts" kinds of matches because of how it was worked.
  20. Terry throwing river mud in Hansen's face was pretty awesome too.
  21. I also got the heel ref vibe here. Seemed like he was on Finlay's side most of the time. Regardless, very fun clash of styles match with Wright adapting to Finlay's style by the end.
  22. What a great heavyweight slugfest! I thought Vader sold that knee really well towards the end. If that wasn't an injury, he did a HELL of a job selling.
  23. Espectrito is so fun to watch. Sagrada is pretty damn impressive as well. I also loved the athletic feats aspect of this as each time somebody came into the ring they basically used the ropes to jump their entire height or more.
  24. Jake continues to be one of my favorite promos in 1990. He has such a great sense of what his character is and uses it so well.
  25. Animal is new to me, but he comes across really well here. He's clearly not at Choshu's level but doesn't care one bit. Great little sprint and I agree that Choshu is best when he doesn't need to recycle his 5 big spots over and over in longer matches.
