    It looked to me like something that could have happened in Dragon Gate. They got pretty goofy with the multi-man spots. At this point in time I don't think it is possible to "ruin wrestling". The stuff you like is on DVD somewhere, so watch that and don't bitch real loud about what you don't.

    Second fall was way too fast. I'd put this at really good, not great. But that isn't to say I'd never watch it again either. Atlantis almost catching on the ringpost for his dive was a little scary.

    Hara was way off all match, I'd agree. Too short and one-sided to be anything but a squash. Of the boss.

    This is great work from both that gets both over. But the idea that they didn't work it like a draw is just not clicking for me. Once their first striking battle ended and went nowhere I had my suspicions. Then Chono gets the STF and Hash hits every one of his finishers and it's still going? At that point there is no other finish. I don't think it detracts from the match, and I think it's the right finish for both of them. This tournament seems like it was booked to put Muto, Chono and Hash over big and a well-executed draw here has all kinds of good future implications.

    Not a fan of this one. Muto blows off the leg selling way too fast for me. I like what they are doing in putting Muto and Chono over though. And the continuous roll-ups should actually pay off once in a while. Maybe something besides three straight inside cradles, but that's a minor quibble. Good enough match that serves it's purpose.

    Yeah, what Nintendo said. If you can work the system and get your paydays, more power to you. I won't be in the audience or buying the DVDs, but that hardly matters.

    That LeDuc v King Tonga feud is going to come to a head soon. Seems like it would be a pretty great underrated feud to me.

    Observer Hall of Fame, two time IWGP Jr Heavyweight champion, WCW Cruiserweight champion (before that title was devalued), J Crown winner, numerous title reigns all over Mexico and Japan. How on earth is Ultimo Dragon underrated and by whom? Hardly underrated by people on here, but I'll throw in Steve Grey and Jon Cortez. I should clarify. I've seen a lot of folks on this site and elsewhere who think his stuff has aged badly and that he was all flash and no substance. Part of which I can understand as guys like Liger, Mysterio, and Samurai were more consistent. But I think his peak matches are pretty dang high and are proof that he brought more to the table than just flashy moves. I guess that goes back to the problem of how we define "underrated" and by whom? I will actually put myself up as one of these. And I think it's due to that pendulum deal mentioned earlier. Younger me LOVED Ultimo Dragon, one of my favorite WCW guys. But the more I watched, the more it just disappointed me seeing him whenever it came up. I started seeing things that soured me on him and did almost a complete 180. I won't say he's a superb junior heavyweight, but he's not actively bad....usually..

    That is a great compliment to give anyone. I know Kabuki is not a huge favorite, but the man knows how to throw an uppercut.

    I was watching this and thinking it was really good, intense matwork for the majority of the bout. Everything was earned and well-executed. And I find myself liking Nogami because he's good and able to hang with Liger on the mat as well as adding a few things of his own to the mix. But I think the reason Nogami didn't pop is that he doesn't bring a whole lot of emotion into anything. He's just out there doing stuff. And there's no problem with what he's doing, it's just lacking any kind of meaning beyond running through spots. He gets to look good and plucky though in surviving long enough to win. At least with Honaga, we get a guy who is absolutely desperate to beat Liger for the belt. He may not have the technical prowess or highspots of Nogami, but there is emotion for Liger to react to.

    I thought Vader bumped a little too much right at the opening bell. Finish was good for the dynamic of the rivalry and match, and keeps Vader strong going forward. I get this feeling I'm going to not want to see another sharpshooter/scorpion deathlock for a long time after this tournament.

    Didn't think much of the early match. They definitely turned it around for the finish, first making it look like Choshu was going to put Chono away after Chono had worked to wear him down. Then Chono gets that second wind and makes it count. I'm guessing that even in 1991, Chono hated being introduced anywhere other than last.

    Worthless match that Jake tries hard to save. Post-match angle is fine, but we all know what's coming. They still make Andre out to be a threat on commentary.

    Haku does look really good. I'd have liked to see him in either AJPW or NJPW. Everyone was laying in their shots, especially Hara with those lariats. Reminded me of the 1988 AJPW tags this is trying to reference, but not quite as good. Looking at the match listings August is pretty loaded too. I doubt this even makes upper half of the month even with Tenryu's post match throwing shit around.

    Finished it up yesterday. Great read and I liked that the end was upbeat in the face of all the tragedy.

    Good match, as mentioned above. Both do well in reversed roles. J.R. having to again cover for WCW using footage older than the booking is beyond ridiculous. Get your shit together WCW.

    I liked what I could see and tell what was happening. Here's what bothers me about the idea of the falls count anywhere match. It was done with no intention of being taped. Explain why you would do that at a house show where half the people aren't even going to be able to see what is happening when they brawl through the crowd. It's stupid and should cost them paying fans in the future. Then they go and just leave the cage to do some more. That being said, this is way ahead of it's time and I wish more of the ECW arena brawls were this good.

    Harts on Tito's team is perfect. As was Jimmy's reaction, I wonder who he'll throw at them after this is all said and done. Fabs running away from Demo is a good teaser. I really like Gino as a Hogan opponent because he's way less cartoon-y than most of them. It has a different kind of gravitas then even somebody like Bundy can bring to it. Gino is the kind of opponent you wish Hogan would have had more often.

    I actually like how Rain works in his younger guys. Like I said with Steamboat feuding with Steiner. You think a guy like Steiner wouldn't be taking loads of advice from Steamboat, an amateur wrestling based guy who made good? To me that's the perfect pairing to let Steamer do his thing and Steiner learn from the master. It's stuff like that I can really appreciate about Rain's booking.

    Austin did good with what he was given. Too bad he was given nothing worthwhile. The two title tournaments at once smacks of WCW bad booking.

    Leatherface stuff has impressed me a lot. For some reason I can't figure out, it works. I liked the argument between Davis and Dundee and thought the match was really good while it lasted. I really like the chance to see both of them get a chance to show what they can do on the mat, which doesn't happen often in Memphis.

    Jake was so good in this. I can't imagine anyone else actually doing this and it not being wrestlecrap. One thing about the Hogan/Warrior/Sid thing. Sid is SO GODDAMN sweaty coming out to say 30 seconds worth of lines. Also, how is Warrior going from the chilled, I-just-learned-the-secrets-of-death guy to amped up psycho mode between these?
