  1. That was my issue with the absorption logic in the first place. When you absorb the promotion you get the tv and the area and the talent. But what if someone wants to come in and take over that promotion, we are saying they can't because if was absorbed into South Eastern due to an older rule. If we were to follow that same logic... I took San Antonio in the absorption of those towns and tv as both of them dropped... but I didn't get the talent (some through the draft) but still get the tv and the arenas then? The issue at hand is that some promotions got the absorption and some didn't. Fair or unfair in these cases, we have to work around it. I don't see how it is right to say Georgia is closed because you absorbed it and it can't be opened when that "rule" was thrown out by the mass exodus and people like myself who would have gotten San Antonio and AWA who would have gotten Calgary and so on and so on don't get that same luxury. I think it would be great to run a single town. Think about running a town like Los Angeles and having only a few homesteaders while booking in all kinds of talent throughout the country week in and week out. If someone wants to do that, I'd be all for helping that work. I think it has been shown that I am all about helping this project run and smooth as possible and am willing to make someone else happier in order to encourage his or her creativity at my own expense.
  2. Georgia Championship Wrestling is defunct though... that would make the promotion itself open right? If we followed your logic, due to this time period in real time, Bill Watts was running Houston much like I am so it wouldn't be open either, since you are running in Georgia, but not as GCW. Not trying to split hairs, but when we look at open promotions that are now closed for one reason or another we have to figure out what that list looks like.
  3. Houston I offered to take Houston in the initial draft and was told I couldn't. I was told it wasn't a real territory. I don't think it would be available at this point either under those same circumstances. (However, read below) Georgia would be added to that list if we are going on defunct promotions that existed at the time. I don't think there's anything against someone coming in, like Dex did, and working a town or an area. If someone were to open up a Los Angeles promotion or something similar I would be open for it. Much like a Houston or Atlanta... I think it comes down to the circumstances of that person. The WWF is tricky as I picked up Vince and am utilizing him. If I have to move him, I have no problem. I did offer him up to trade if someone would like to bring him and the WWF back, but much like World Class without the Von Erichs, it would be difficult to see. Not saying it wouldn't happen, I just think if someone has these aspirations, we have to figure out individual schematics and work from there.
  4. I added Sherri and Medusa to the women. I am expecting them to have a bigger year in 1984. I agree with the call for writers... plenty of people out there and those of us with the "big names" are more than willing to work.
  5. Mid South signs Woman to a managerial contract
  6. Free Agency is updated with over 380 names available.
  7. -Word from Mid South is that Boris Zhukov came in so overweight that Bill Watts read him the riot act in front of everyone at tonight's television tapings. Watts let him know that his time would be limited if he didn't get into shape and Boris wasn't too happy but understood. -Hacksaw Duggan has some nagging injuries that he's working through to get back full time and when he does, he is expected to be in the North American title hunt. -There is talk of bringing in a manager for Tully Blanchard who is said be go going into Mid South as a solo act, with Gino Hernandez be as far away from his as possible to lead to a possible feud which Watts thinks would draw big money in Texas. -Speaking of Texas, Watts has got a full fledged brigade to invade Texas in the coming weeks. He will continue his bi-weekly shows in Houston but now he will be running in the HemisFair Arena every other week he isn't in Houston. To add to that, he is going to try and run television in the Sportatorium without a Von Erich on the card. This could be a huge flop for Mr. Watts who is said to be very confident about moving into Texas and expanding Mid South through the Lone Star State. -There is talk of a big Battle For New Orleans match with the Junkyard Dog taking on Ted Dibiase. Watts said he would find the biggest cage he could to hold these two stars. -As of this writing, Power Pro is going to be hosted by Vince McMahon of all people and air Sunday mornings at 8am. The matches will be from Mid South's Thursday house show loops in which they will bring one hard cam for the taping. One has to wonder if taping the matches before the regular television would be the safe and less costly solution.
  8. Wanted the throw something out for everyone. This would be a dirt sheets thread in which we could post possible rumors and stories for our promotions. This could be piggybacked on with Dex's PWI covers for those who want to add some more to the project. What would be posted on here can be true or false... simply going by the dirt sheets to get information about upcoming shows or previous results or someone arguing with someone else. Have some fun with it.
  9. Just to give everyone a heads up. This will be finishing within the next hour. I will then throw the remaining names into Free Agency and they will be live to pick from.
  10. I don't think it's a big deal but it could be an additional thing if we just need to use guys for one shot to have them do a gig as a freelancer free agent on the free agent thread. This could be what we do for the jobber packs as well...
  11. I don't think there was a set thing on that. I do know that it could work, but it would be opposite of this thread. That would simply be on the free agency wire I'd think especially for just a one off.
  12. He isn't a freelancer.
  13. I made the first round of updates... please reply here if there's anything that I need to fix.
  14. I will update that once all is said and done. We can wait for the 24 hours and Florida is free to pick then we will go from there. Remember not to use any of these individuals until that is complete.
  15. Gene can pick and then you can, Florida has been on over the last couple of days but hasn't picked...
  16. Okay guys, I'm giving this thing 24 hours. It will be done tomorrow, get picks in during that time. The other names will be thrown into free agency.
  17. I appreciate the feedback, join us on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/668716029909944/ I am going to try and get more interactive for some ideas in 2016 and want everyone to be heard. Thanks again!
  18. MACW is up with Florida coming in to pick when they can. Unless there is someone you are hell bent on getting, they will be put into free agency but let's try and get this complete as soon as possible. I know with the holidays things are hard but it is best for the group. Once the draft is complete, I will update the roster database and then you can reply with changes that you need to make from there. I will get started on that process today with the promotions who are out of the draft.
  19. Really good stuff here from Big Time. I have said it before but I really like the records here to keep up on things. 1984 looks to be a spectacular show with some big names coming in and some huge matches. I am interested to see how the final four plays out... you have three known great teams and perhaps I don't know too much about Pet and Burke, but they could pull the upset in my eyes. Valentine v Martel is the best way to go and with guys like Sarge and Volkoff coming in, the main event scene is going to be loaded with some real contenders and not to mention some of the names in the Battle Royal, 1984 is going to be a great way to kickstart things for BTW.
  20. Loved seeing the Samoans come in against the Road Warriors. That would be a great brawl based feud to keep the tag division running wild. Hogan is back and he has a nice partnership with the Iceman but the OMG is back and he is there to ruin the party. Looks like the Hulkster has some new blood to run with when it comes to Blackwell. Some big names coming into the fold for the AWA but I have my suspicions on who will rise up. Tito Santana and Paul Orndorff are two guys with whom I think have got gold written all over them in 84.
  21. You've been consistent since the outset. Great shows from Memphis and you continue that streak here. I loved the 26th Supershow and you had a card to rival Starrcade without a doubt. I think you've walked the fine line between AWA and NWA for sometime and you have supported both in a big way. I am interested to see where that partnership goes in 1984 and how some of your big names will be used during that time. I see Reed, Piper, Lawler, and Idol having big years but I think there are some underneath guys that will get through and be special parts to your show and the Sheephearders are two of them. Great stuff to end the year and your on the right foot to begin the next.
  22. Florida continues to be a great promotion and your attention to detail has been very good. With the Von Erichs coming in and adding to the mix, Florida is a legit hot bed right now with a ton of potential. I don't think it will stop him, but with the Von Erichs coming in, Curt Hennig may have a harder time getting over with these fresh young group of talent but I am sure it will end up great for all those involved. I am looking for him to have a fantastic 1984 in Florida.
  23. I am interested to see how Superclash turns out and you've done a great job building to it. It think Tommy Rich is one of the premiere figures in the 1983 world we've created thanks to your consistency with him. I have no doubts that his run in 1984 will only get better.
  24. Mid South Wrestling is coming to you from the Fox 8 studio in New Orleans, Louisiana on Fox and its affiliates Fox 8 out of New Orleans, KLRT 16 out of Little Rock, WXXV 25 out of Jackson, KOKH 25 out of Oklahoma City, KRIV 26 out of Houston, KDFW 4 out of Dallas – Fort Worth, and KABB out of San Antonio. -Mid South Wrestling opens this week with Jim Ross & Vince McMahon standing by in the studio but he isn’t alone… Jim Ross – Welcome everyone to Mid South Wrestling. We want to wish everyone happy holidays and well wishes going into the new year. I am joined tonight by Vince McMahon, Vince, we are just days removed from what was the turning point in this sport, Starrcade was indeed a night to remember. Vince McMahon: That’s right Jim. We saw some fantastic wrestling action. Some big title matches but none bigger than the World Heavyweight Championship contest between Ric Flair and Harley Race. Jim: Fans we have highlights from those matches here tonight for you. It is safe to say that the sport has changed and from here forward, things will only get bigger and better in the NWA. Vince: I think that is true Jim, I know I am looking forward to some of the things we have coming up for Mid South. Jim: Fans Mid South Wrestling will be back on the road starting January the 4th from New Orleans in the Lakefront Arena. We hope you fans will join us there for what will be an exciting beginning to 1984. In action, we will have the Junkyard Dog, King Kong Bundy, The Masked Superstar, and the brand new Mid South Tag Team Champions the Fantastics. Vince, they won the titles from the Samoans, they defended the titles at Starrcade, it is safe to say that Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers are a hot commodity in wrestling right now. Vince: I agree Jim. These two youngster have got all the talent and now they have the titles to go along with them. Jim Ross: Let’s see how they did at Starrcade this past week! *ALL MATCHES ARE CLIPPED* MID SOUTH TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Krusher Kruschev & Boris Zhukov vs The Fantastics © -A hot opener as the Greensboro crowd is knowledge about these four guys and with the titles on the line, Ross and Caudle put this through the roof. Fulton and Rogers play off the strength of the Krusher and Boris so well. Ross and Caudle put over how Kruschev has held the Mid Atlantic titles in the past and he knows what he needs to do in order to get the titles back. He and Boris don’t quite mesh and their arguing leads to a disagreement and before you know it, we see Fulton and Rogers taking advantage with a huge double arm drag on Krusher and then a big double dropkick sending him out of the ring to the floor! Boris comes with some double axe handle smashes but we see Fulton and Rogers with some big rights and then a double body slam! Fulton goes up for the ROCKET LAUNCHER and the 1…2….3!! Ross and Caudle put this over in a big way as The Fantastics work the crowd. Winners and still Mid South Tag Team Champions - The Fantastics *COMMERCIAL* MASK VS HAIR Wrestling II vs Scott Casey -A nice clash of styles here tonight. Ross and Caudle continue to put over the individual achievements of both men. They talk about Casey’s time in Southwest and Wrestling II’s career in Mid South. They talk about Starrcade being a summit of all the top stars and this being one of those moments. We get around 11-minutes of stiff action with both of these guys throwing some big punches. We see them go out of the ring to brawl a little bit and you can tell neither man is willing to give up their hair or mask. We get back in the ring as both men are wearing down and we see Casey looking to finish. He has worked over the neck and the back and he is going for the piledriver and he nails it for the 1….2….and Wrestling II gets his foot on the rope! Casey can’t believe it… wait a moment… here comes Rick McGraw. Caudle and Ross wonder what he’s doing out there! He is cheering on Casey… wait a minute… as the referee’s back is turned, Rick McGraw with a stiff shot and Wrestling II is reeling. Wait a minute! The crowd pops as Magnum TA runs down to the ring and he nails McGraw! Magnum throws him into the ring post and now Casey is yelling at him. This gives Wrestling II a chance to get up and then he nails Casey with a running high knee and Casey hits the turnbuckle! Wrestling II backs up and waits for Casey and then hits a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX! 1….2….3!! WRESTLING II HAS WON IT! The crowd pops as Magnum gets in the ring and he’s got the hair equipment. Magnum is holding down Casey and Wrestling II is cutting away! He is throwing the hair as Casey is coming too! Rick McGraw pulls Casey out of the ring and the worst part is that all of his hair wasn’t cut! Ross and Caudle put this through the roof as Wrestling II and Magnum shake hands and go up the aisle… Winner - Mr. Wrestling II -Jim Ross and Vince McMahon continue to put over Mid South’s involvement in the Starrcade event this past week. They put over Wrestling II and his television championship. They talk about Scott Casey looking for a measure of revenge somewhere somehow. They talk about Don Muraco looking for a rematch against Wrestling II and he should be getting one around the Mid South territory when Mid South goes back on tour. Vince and Jim then put over the big $100,000 battle royal. They talk about all the top stars from around the world who participated. We then see the action… STARRCADE CUP $100,000 BATTLE ROYAL Andre The Giant, Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen, Abdullah the Butcher, Masked Superstar, Don Muraco, Jack Lanza, Wahoo McDaniel, ThunderBolt Patterson, Kamala, Mad Dog Vachon, Butcher Vachon, Pedro Morales, Matt Borne, Lanny Poffo, Blackjack Mulligan, Bad News Allen, Sargent Slaughter, Rocky Johnson, & Bob Backlund -Perhaps the most star studded battle royal of all times. Ross and Caudle put over the Starrcade Cup in a huge way and discuss the big $100,000 prize. Early one we see some allegiances and some big time power. One of the premiere guys right off the bat is Rocky Johnson who goes on a little tear throwing out Patterson and Borne early. We see the Sarge and Backlund throwing some huge bombs. Brody and Hansen finally get their hands on one another. Kamala is a wild man and tosses out Leapin Lanny Poffo as the ring is starting to clear up. Don Muraco seems to be a man alone out there as he is able to eliminate Morales but then falls to Bob Backlund who tosses him over the top to the floor! Next out is Bad News Allen who get a nasty headbutt from Andre! The Vachons are working together as are the Blackjacks. Masked Superstar makes a good run but Rocky Johnson tosses him out. On the other side of the ring Bruiser Brody with a double clothesline and the Vachons are out of the ring to the floor! Ross and Caudle can hardly follow along with the action. We see Stan Hansen come over and he tosses out Slaughter and Backlund who are tied up with one another. Abdullah and Kamala are now fighting with one another but then they team up on Andre! Andre is able to fight both men off and then he looks over as the Blackjack attempt to eliminate Johnson but Andre comes from behind as Johnson ducks and the Blackjacks go over the top to the floor. Brody eliminates Masked Superstar. We are down to Andre, Brody, Hansen, Abdullah, Kamala, and Rocky Johnson. It turns into a 6-man tag for all intensive purposes. Hansen and Brody, Abdullah and Andre, and Johnson and Kamala. Brody and Hansen get locked up but on the other side of the ring we see Abdullah and Kamal get Andre locked in the ropes and then they double up and eliminate Rocky Johnson! They walk over and eliminate both Brody and Hansen! We are down to three as Kamala and Abdullah are hammering on Andre as he gets up and out of the ropes. Abdullah runs but Andre nails him with a back elbow and then he tosses him out of the ring to the floor! It is Kamala and Andre. They are throwing some bombs as Kamala goes for a couple of huge chops but it is Andre who nails him with a huge headbutt! Kamala backs up and then Andre with a clothesline and Kamala goes over the top to the floor! The crowd pops as Andre gets the trophy and inside the $100,000! He holds up the trophy and money… Ross and Caudle put it through the roof! Winner of the Starrcade Cup & $100,000 - Andre the Giant *COMMERCIAL* MID SOUTH NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP Junkyard Dog vs Ted Dibiase © -Jim Ross puts this one through the roof as both men stand across the ring from one another. Dibiase holds up the title belt and Junkyard Dog howls and the crowd pops. Here we go for a solid 11-minutes. JYD tosses Dibiase all over the ring while Dibiase slows down the pace and he works over the neck of JYD. We see him go for everything including a brainbuster and JYD is hurting. The crowd is stirring as the Dog begins to make his comeback and Dibiase can’t believe it. He nails him with rights and lefts but the dog is shaking it off. He is ready and now the Dog is dishing out some big time shots. He hammers away at Dibiase and sends him to the ropes for a huge back body drop! JYD is looking to finish and he picks up Dibiase for a THUMP! JYD takes a moment to wipe the sweat from his eyes as Dibiase rolls out of the ring. JYD follows and he knows he has to pin him inside the ring for the title to change hands. JYD goes to grab him but Dibiase grabs the belt, he swings wildly at JYD who ducks and then an atomic drop into the ring post. The belt goes flying into the ring as JYD tosses in Dibiase and he is ready to put him away. He goes to grab Dibiase who hits him with a LOW BLOW! PeeWee Anderson doesn’t’ call for the bell… he doesn’t want to end it this way… but then Dibiase grabs that North American Title and he CRACKS JYD right between the eyes and he goes down and PeeWee has no choice but to call for the bell! The fans are booing up a storm. We see some debris in the ring as Dibiase holds up the title. JYD isn’t done yet though as he gets up and looks at him. We see a sprinkle of blood from his forehead and Jim Ross says this one is far from over! Dibiase may have won the battle, but the war for Mid South’s North American Championship is just heating up! Winner - The Junkyard Dog -Jim Ross and Vince McMahon return giving a nice summation of the contest between the JYD and Dibiase. They talk about a final showdown between these two and at some point it is going to have to happen. They talk about a war to end it all between these two and wonder when and how it will go down. They turn their attention to the NWA and put over the World Heavyweight Championship contest. They talk about Flair and Race and how both men are leaders amongst their peers and should be considered the two top wrestlers in the world right now. They cut to the match and we see the highlights and the big finish. As the match concludes we cut back to Ross and McMahon putting over the night’s action and talk about Mid South Wrestling coming back on air in January from New Orleans. MAIN EVENT NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Ric Flair vs Harley Race © -The bell rings and they meet in the middle of the ring....Race clearly has words for Flair who is shaking his head and starts to strut, Race spins him around and they lock up. The match goes back and forth for 45 minutes with neither man ever having a distinct advantage for an extended period of time, Flair attempts the figure four leglock but Race kicks him off causing Flair to go crashing head first into the ringpost splitting his head open. Race works him over with repeated right hands to the head opening Flair's cut up even more. Race hooks Flair in a fisherman's suplex and Flair barely kicks out at 2! Race gives Flair a piledriver....then climbs to the top rope to deliver a headbutt but Flair manages to move out of the way and both me are now struggling to get to their feet...Flair gets to his feet first and climbs to the top rope....but Race catches him and tosses him off the top rope out to the middle of the ring.....Race lowers his knee pad and runs across to drop a knee on Flair's bleeding forehead but Flair moves and Race drives his own exposed knee right into the mat, Flair locks in the figure four leglock.....Race is in the middle of the ring....he can't reach the ropes after some struggling, Race has no choice but to submit... Winner and new World Heavyweight Champion: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair
  25. Hey fellas, As we approach the new year, we need to address the Freelance Booking. From the onset of the project, freelancer booking was handled by an individual promoter for the month. I figured this would be a good time to address some revision to freelance booking. I think the program itself works well, this is just a way to get everyone on the same page along with figuring out who will be booking for the couple of months and who the freelance talent will be. First thing, who would like to having booking responsibilities? Rainmaker has got January but we have the rest of the months to fill. Please respond to this post if you'd like your name to be put in the proverbial hat for someone who'd like to take booking responsibilities. Please don't feel like you have to do this. I know some people don't have as much access as others and this can be quite the responsibility. Again, if you'd like to undertake it, respond here. Secondly, we need to figure out who the freelancers will be. I think we are safe with these guys... Andre the Giant Bruiser Brody Abdullah the Butcher Mil Mascaras Stan Hansen But The Sheik has no records of working in 1984. Is it safe to say he is out of the world of wrestling or would we like to continue to use him? Another name to look at is Terry Funk. Funk returns to bookings in November of 1984 for a couple of weeks before going to Japan and then returning almost full time in 1985. We will need to address his return to the world of wrestling at that time and if we want to just utilize him as a freelancer so he can be used by everyone since that's the way he did things. We also have the... The Minis Little Tokyo Cowboy Lang Lone Eagle Tiny Tom Little Coco Chili Bowl Butch Cassidy The Haiti Kid Sonny Boy Hayes Tiger Jackson I am in no way a mini expert, so we will need some research on if there are any new ones or ones that retired in 1984. Then we have... The Women The Fabulous Moolah Princess Victoria Velvet McIntrye Debbie Combs Donna Day Wendi Richter Judy Martin Penny Mitchell Susan Star Joyce Grable Leilani Kai Sherri Martel Madusa Micelli Now we have some additional women like Medusa and Sherri. Should they be thrown in here for the women? So please respond to the post with your opinions on... 1. Would you like to be added to the freelance booking team and be in charge for a month of freelancer bookings drawn at random? 2. What is your view on the Sheik and being used in 1984? 3. What is your view on Terry Funk being added in to freelancers in November of 1984 and your thoughts on using him in 1985? 4. Thoughts on adding Medusa and Sherri to the women freelancers if they are undrafted? Thanks guys! Can't wait to get back in the swing of things.
