  1. Wasn't the Punk's problem with the 'make Roman look good' thing that he was winning a 3 on 1 handicap match against The Shield and therefore he couldn't make Roman look strong. Didn't he say something along the lines of 'I was about a second away from saying do you know what would make Roman look good, if he pinned me.' Although yeah, seems like part of why he left was not getting to be a real top guy. Anyway Cesaro is the obvious choice for this role unless they're gonna do something actually meaningful with him, which I highly doubt
  2. C'mon, Doesn't Bill Goldberg's WWE debut blow this out of the water in terms of crowd reaction
  3. Akira Hokuto Bull Nakano Aja Kong Dynamite Kansai Manami Toyota Chigusa Nagayo Devil Masami Mayumi Ozaki Jaguar Yokota Shinobu Kandori Lioness Asuka With possible room for Kyoko, Yumiko Hotta and Toshiyo Yamada
  4. Match Reviews for Kana: http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/33103-kana-konami-vs-syuri-hikaru-shida-kana-pro-38/ http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/32740-emma-vs-asuka-wwe-nxt-1216-takeover-london/ and this nxt review has a recap of that battle royal she was in last week http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2016/01/13/wwe-nxt-jan-13/
  5. What if a wrestler goes with a script and his matches don't have strong narratives, what if they don't and the matches still feel inorganic and contrived (pretty sure this one doesn't happen often). Would that make those criticisms matter less in any way? What I'm trying to get at is, isn't what matters here simply whether or not the matches have these weaknesses or not and whether it's scripted or not doesn't make much difference other than the likeliness of certain problems.
  6. I echo WingedEagle's thoughts on this doesn't matter to me if someone does the Bret/Macho Man lay out the whole match before hand thing, they still knew how to put together a good match and were able to execute it. Hunter didn't even work in WWF at the time of the first Razor/HBK ladder match.
  7. I'm pretty sure I'll be ranking El Hijo del Santo, Atlantis, El Dandy, Pirata Morgan and Satanico with possible places for MS-1, Dr. Wagner Jr and Blue Panther. Grimmas had a thread a while back where he was reviewing a bunch of minis matches, http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/29678-the-minis-thread/
  8. I thought I'd be on a bit of an island in not including Harley Race but looks like there's a few people on my side there. There's probably less people on my side when it comes to Shinya Hashimoto and Buddy Rose though.
  9. Kota Ibushi, Davey Richards, Kyle O'Reilly are all part of my list right now and James Storm is in my maybe pile. I've considered those guys, I think I may have nominated Shingo. But now it's looking like none of them, except maybe Yoshino will make my list. Also add me to the list of people voting for Naomichi Marufuji.
  10. I'm only watching free footage. But that doesn't mean relying solely on YouTube and Dailymotion, if it did it'd be impossible to rank 2000s indie wrestlers and Dragon Gate guys, but luckily we've got torrents, openthedragongate.com, veoh and a few other places. Using free footage has hurt in some places and made a few people hard to explore but for the most part it works out ok.
  11. Why is this song the song from the unbelievably annoying old Go Compare ad? For those of us not in the UK or Ireland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_-9QFvhQWo
  12. https://vimeo.com/27337356
  13. On the other hand, putting Ken Shamrock in DX could help this situation too. If they opened next weeks Raw with the DX theme playing and then Ken Shamrock walks down the ramp, would people pop? would they boo? would they be to confused to react?
  14. I just want to point out that Taz is not on commentary in that match it's Don West, cool to see you describe him as a shill because he was literally an infomercial host before being a wrestling commentator. Anyway Tenay and Don West are a top 5 all time commentary team for me, at least for matches like this cos Don West's unbridled enthusiasm could get annoying in 4 minute meaningless TV matches

    Sabu

Yeah, would anyone here rank Christopher Daniels above Sabu? *raises hand*
  16. That seems kind of low on the list of scummy things Fritz pulled. Why don't you out-Fritz me then? The first thing I think of when I think of scummy Fritz Von Erich is when he faked a heart attack in the ring a couple of years after David's death
  17. Don't recall ever seeing threads for these three, and there's probably not many people looking to vote for them, so you may have to nominate them yourself.
  18. No real resolution, just continue to watch piles of stuff until I have to hand in my GWE ballot and then probably not watch any wrestling for months

    Tamon Honda

Not sure if this actually is the match in question, I'm in work and I just did a quick search http://www.pideo.net/video/youku/461ce181eed85ba6/
  20. Well you could say I'm finished in that if someone said i had to submit my ballot right this second i could do it. But i guarantee that the ballot i'd submit today is not the one i'll have at the start of April. What's the issue with 90-100, who to exclude? 10 empty spaces with nobody great enough to be on the list?
  21. Not a single one has a match as good as Trish/Mickie from WM22. Or as good as Trish/Jazz/Victoria from WrestleMania 19. Or probably even as good as Trish/Stephanie from 2001(?). None of these people are going to make my list but I'd like to disagree with the idea that none of the women listed have a match as good as any if those 3 Trish Stratus matches. Nattie Neidhart: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2dni6d_charlotte-vs-natalya_sport AJ Lee: youtube.com/watch?v=TG-biPOCyeo Brie Bella: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x243h98_brie-bella-vs-stephanie-mcmahon_sport I know Loss said he meant Nikki Bella but honestly I don't think there are any examples of a Nikki Bella match that is good enough.
  22. This post made this terrible idea for a thread worth it.
  23. It's not just the issue of not appearing small time, but also by not trying to go national you will gradually lose your big stars to WWF who can pay them more. The model that these guys are suggesting doesn't seem so different to me than what the AWA did, and although they lasted longer than almost every other territory; they still went under eventually.

    YAMATO

He works over CIMA's leg in the early going of this match, but it's nowhere near the quality of that Ricochet match. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x18e8si_cima-vs-yamato-dragon-gate-1-20-10_sport
  25. The problem with lists like this is that it's almost impossible to figure out what criteria was used. How can The Crusher and Samoa Joe be on the same list? If someone handed in a ballot with these guys as the top 35, there'd be a WTF reaction from plenty of people here.
