  1. shoe is spot on. I think we all know that it's really hard to call anyone in sports and/or entertainment the GOAT. So many intangibles. But the thing about a project like this is that for one it's fun. Even more though we have an excuse to go back and watch shit that we might not even bother with at this point.
  2. Taylor was a hot babyface for Watts before he moved on to JCP. He was just as popular (if not more) as Maggie was in the same time frame for Watts. Don't believe me? Ask Meltzer. I really think he needed a blood feud with Sawyer in the first half of 86. I think it woulda helped put him over the top after his JCP exit. His heel turn and work was his true calling. To bad he had heat with Dust. Because he woulda made a great fuckin Horseman in 88. As for the Benji list. Man. Just don't know.
  3. I watched Sting get an amazing pop in a fuckin minor league baseball stadium in August of 87 (San Jose, CA) before he was even on the radar for JCP. I know what he brought to the table. That was JCP who put him on the map. But the Turner company overestimated his worth/value for fuckin years. He didn't draw. He was a Nikita Koloff 84-86 at best. But a face. Guy shoulda never been positioned as the guy. As for the first COTC in 88. The event itself was the draw. Not Sting. Sting was fresh/hot but Rhodes/JCP was building towards Luger/Flair. Sting was cooled off after the COTC. He remained in the light but it wasn't the brightest of bulbs. The company was FUBAR. As for 89. If ya wanna hang 89 on him be my guest but you'd be wrong. Flair was the guy in 89. Sting was along for the ride post Bash 89. Flair/Funk actually drew that shit for a company money. That's the point ya know. Ain't about vanity. This wasn't an era where promotions like ECW (and it's rasslers) mostly got a pass. The man made a decent dime so good on him. But he's the most overrated leading man on rasslin film.

    Vader

I like Blackwell over Vader. Henry is an odd guy to gauge for me. But Henry is one of my favorites of the last 15yrs+. He's a Top-5/10 favorite in the time frame. As for Andre. I saw him in the 70's and 80's. His NJPW match with Hansen is fuckin gold and better then anything Vader ever did that I saw. Or Blackwell or Henry for that matter.
  5. As of now Kobashi, Misawa, Taue, and especially Kawada won't make my Top-10. Vader won't make it either. It's also safe for me to say that no WWWF/WWF/WWE World Champion will place in my Top-10. Especially Backlund. Same goes for Hart and Michaels. Don't even ask me about Hogan, Tick turd. Austin would make it as a favorite but that's not what my list is about. I will probably have Wahoo McDaniel and Dick Murdoch higher then anyone. Jack Brisco will rank well. As will Dunk. A lot of 90's guys and beyond will have a tough go at ranking high on my list. And Ricky Flair will rank in the Top-3 to 5.
  6. So the WWE is a pro wrestling anchor?
  7. elliot. what you've posted here is pretty damn cool. While I don't subscribe to what the WON HOF is I think your support for one of the old school is cool. Good stuff man.
  8. The WWE is your team? You view the WWE as your home team like you view the NYJ? That's a first. Never heard that one before. I could see that point of view being prevalent in the territory heyday but now?
  9. WTF did Sting ever do to warrant so much legendary status? He's was WCWs top gun in the early to mid 90's? BFD. That's like being a one legged man in an ass kickin contest. I feel Luger got the shitty end of the stick. He was better then Sting in every category and still got the shaft up until the end. At least Hogan through the guy a bone on Monday Nitro though.
  10. Hogan WCW 94. Benoit, Guerrero, Jericho, Layfield, Mysterio. The fuckin Miz.
  11. Are folks here still following/watching RAW/WWE out of habit/addict or because you truly enjoy what your watching? Is it the matches themselves that keep your interest? Is it the characters/storylines? Combo of the two? Other? I really want to know because it's a waste of time at this point imo. It's horseshit.
  12. A lot of Japan (90's AJ guys) are gonna slide on my list. They're all damn great. Against each other.

    Vader

#5? Wow! Who do you have #1-4?
  14. Barry Windham is a lock for my Top-25. If there is one wrestler I'd like to fantasy book/manage from 88 forward it's Windham. By my design he woulda been the man in the first half of the 90's. With a few turns of the wrench (mentally/physically) you have an all-time contender.
  15. I don't care how many masks or t-shirts Mysterio sold. Don't care if McMahon de-pushed, pushed, re-pushed, etc. Has no impact on how I view him. The man made a very good living. That doesn't change how I view him in the ring. Just one guys opinion.
  16. Doesn't make a difference to me jdw. I believe in Liger more. Selling for Ole and Stan wasn't the point.
  17. So there's people who think she's the rassler of the year? Is it because of the 1 Lynch and 2 Bayley matches? I like her heelin. Just wouldn't put her anywhere near a list like this. I can't stand the Bayley character so I've enjoyed watchin Sasha fuck with her.
  18. Liger for me. I never got Rey Mysterio. I think he's a wuss. Every time I watch him I'm thinking I'd like to see Ole Anderson and Stan Hansen maul him (kayfabe) in the Techwood studio. He wouldn't of been able to do a damn thing about it because he ain't believable. He doesn't know how to look like he's fighten. Which is something a mighty mouse worker needs to know how to do.
  19. That's fine. One year (2015) doesn't qualify for top hundy imo. I view this as an all-time list. Not flavor of the year/month.
  20. Arn will make my list with ease. I wish Arn Anderson had debuted in the early to mid 60's and been ready for semi/mains in the 70's. Arn fit in just fine when he got his big break with JCP in 85 but woulda been an upper elite 70's worker in my opinion. Arn coulda been in Harley's spot as far as I'm concerned.
  21. Hell no. She hasn't been around long enough or done enough to even be nominated. Working a fist full of matches in NXT isn't enough for her or anybody for that matter. The NXT orgy is starting to get a little outta hand. I really enjoy NXT for what it is. But man there's a lot of lemmings when it comes to NXT.
  22. Arn Anderson and Dennis Condrey. They woulda made a hell of a team as well. I really liked Ole. He and Gene were super. I've heard great things from folks about his team with Koloff. He had the team with Hansen which was short lived. And the team with Arn of course. I watched Ole and Gene in real time and they great. I think Arn was better then Gene though. I know a lot of folks don't like Ole based on his later years in Georgia and Charlotte. In the 70's and early 80's he was fuckin gold though. He'd kick YOUR ASS.
  23. We can all judge the wrestler by what we have on tape. That tape may not cover an entire career though. So if someone makes a broad or sweeping assumption on the wrestlers entire career (that's not available) it's wrong. When I think of Flair I think of 70's Flair throughout the 80's. I didn't like watching Flair beyond 89 by the end of 1990. But in the mid to late 70's Flair was fuckin awesome to watch. He had an energy about him and work ethic that shined through each and every time I saw him. He was 'it' in the moment but also ahead of what was 'it' at the same time. If that makes any sense. Everyone have a great night. 7pm on the westside and time for some coors, jd, pizza, and pool.
  24. I put Scott era JCP #1 OVERALL as far as US promotions are concerned. I didn't see Grahams Florida from 68-76 though.
  25. I'm a 70's guy so I wanna vote Terry Funk. Funk has the 70's no doubt. Stan The Man Hansen is fuckin great. He has the 90's without question. This is real tough. Think I'm gonna pop in some VHS while I'm shootin pool (and Jack D) tonight. This comes down to the 80's shit.
