Were you in Crockett country then too KrisZ?

Posted here four months ago (and for the longest time) I always had Kawada-Misawa-Kobashi-Taue. I think that has changed. Kobashi has leaped to #1. Misawa stays at #2. Kawada has dropped to #3. Kobashi-Misawa-Kawada-Taue. I'm finished watching All-Japan unless it's from the 70's or something new from the 80's. I'm sick of the fuckin 90's.

There's a lot of modern era (indy) nominees that couldn't crack my chickens eggs and scramble me a breakfast so my list will look a little different than most. If that means I shouldn't submit a ballot so be it. But I will submit one anyway. I'm not a super lucha mark either and feel it's the phoniest of the rasslin phonies. I do believe that everyone should submit a ballot though. There's really no such thing as a GOAT in anything. But it's fun.

Anybody here live in Crockett country and see Flair from let's say 76 onward? If so how old were you? Home arena? I'm real curious. Cause I was there and I was 18 in July of 76. A lot of fans and critics/observers never saw Flair in that period on a weekly/monthly basis and have no fuckin clue how and why the guy got to where he got in September of 81. Flair wasn't always formula.

Will anyone be ranking a fair amount of 50s & 60s guys?
Wade Garrett replied to Loss's topic in 2016
I think this comes down to age being there's a severe lack of footage. That's why this project isn't really a true GOAT project. It really can't be. I look at it like a project from 1980 forward. -
Southeastern/Continental Championship Wrestling
Wade Garrett replied to goc's topic in Pro Wrestling
Goc if you have the time please keep this thread alive. Everyone on this board with a passion for the old territories (especially Southern) should be reading this. -
With College Football season here i'm gonna have to hold off until early December. This is the time of year I make my investments. Come December though I'm on board. And goc please keep doing your Southeast thread. It's great stuff that should be read by everyone who has no clue about how fuckin great GCCW/SECW/CCW/CWF was.

They were both awful. I think the 90's were pretty shitty overall for WWF and WCW. I can see it's appeal to younger fans at the time. Those born no earlier then 1980 maybe. WCW had it's moments but the WWF was terrible. I wouldn't re-watch that shit if you offered an hourly wage to do so. I got caught up in the Monday Night stuff like every other lemming and lapsed fan too. Doesn't change the decade though. Outside of Japan, Lucha, and SMW (if that's your bag) the 90's were the worst complete decade I've seen for pro wrestling in my lifetime. 2004 thru 2009 is the absolute worst period though.

Wrestler awareness of things not in their bubble
Wade Garrett replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
I don't understand why anyone would think ECW was anything more than a pro wrestling promotion for super fans. The fucking Sandman isn't/wasn't and never will be a star. Garbage wrestler in a promotion that made it's rep among super fans via garbage wrestling. He fit perfectly. As for the song. One of Metallica's worst. -
Wrestler awareness of things not in their bubble
Wade Garrett replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
It's a job that they choose to do. Why is that so difficult to understand? Pro Wrestling isn't the only hard job to break into and make a decent living at. -
Yeah. Difference being in the ring.

I think the man is money. He checks all the boxes from where I'm sitting. He can only get better as a performer if he continues working his ass off and has the support politically. I think his ceiling his higher than Cena.
-
I'll add Chad Gable to the list. I don't know who is in favor of him politically but he has a high ceiling.

Wrestler awareness of things not in their bubble
Wade Garrett replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
It's a job. it carries a higher profile than most jobs but that's what it is. I think we tend to forget that because of our fandom and the nature of the business and those who choose to do it for a living. -
Maybe he looked in a mirror before he took the stage.
-
Maybe I'm old. It just seems like every wrestler or team with a pulse that set foot in a ring is being nominated.
-
It's mindless entertainment. Doesn't take a lot of energy or thought to sit on your ass and watch. It's a harmless escape and unwind regardless of age, culture, and gender. For along time it was the closest thing to the Roman coliseum in concept.

Hell no Grimmas. I'm being a smartass.

Maybe they will blow it off at WM ? . I think Trips will work Shawn an a WM in the next three years. Shawn will work another match. Against Trips.

I like Baba a lot. Knows what his strengths are and that has a lot of footing with me. Odd pro wrestler to judge overall. He was a owner/booker/wrestler. He did know his role within his company and played it well. Maybe better then anyone? He will be on my list. Late edition though.
-
No! All-time team! Why? Why would they even be nominated? Christ!
-
Top-100 all-time? No way. ALL-TIME! He has shitty offense. His selling is mediocre. Do folks really think this guy is an all-timer? Guy is a jobber with tattoos.
-
Thanks for the lesson John. It wasn't meant to insult anyone. Just an opinion. Opinions are allowed? Right? Sorry if I insulted anyone or opinions.

I think this Dave Meltzer stuff thread and threads like it should be taken to the trash. Because that's what they are/become is trash. What makes this (old wrestlingclassics/km stuff) place great is the discussions and sharing of opinions about the actual pro wrestling matches and wrestlers. Not behind the curtain bullshit.
