  1. I also enjoyed watching Sweet Brown Sugar back in the day. He has become a very solid and dependable worker on my roster. He's the type of guy who generates excitement. I can have him in matches like this one here with Oliver and also love using him in 6 man tags with teams like Hot Property and Johnson/Cooley. In my opinion, Harley Race could pull anything off. He had a tremendous arsenal of wrestling holds and maneuvers. He also had a rugged style and could break the rules. At this point in his career he was winding down but still was a tough solid worker and threat. Check out some of his 70s matches. I believe there's a really good one on YouTube between him and Ricky Steamboat.
  2. Glad you liked that segment with Sharpe. I thought that would be a fun little way to start the show. Iron Mike was best known as a JTTS in WWF but you're right, he did have a good resume before that. You're also absolutely right about the Singh/Stamp team. I never saw them as a team but read about that. I believe Stamp was also a brass knuckles champ in a territory run by Dory Funk. Hmmmmm, maybe it's time to book a Dennis Stamp comeback.

  4. This event will truly be something special.
  5. Terry Funk pulls tights, uses the ropes and piledrives Olympia and Houston on the concrete as he wins the tournament and Texas Title. What a wild ride that reign will be! Short reign for Garvin and Embry and looks like Bubba had his price. Creative way for Gordy to loose his match. Who wouldn't be distracted by a masked man riding a horse into the arena LOL. It's going to be a great summer for WCCW.
  6. Dibiase, Geigel, Freebirds, Olympia, bounty's, fines and now the Midnight Rider. What an awesome story going here. Tremendous build for the War Games Match! Nice cliffhanger and like Gene says, I love the creativity here as the Freebirds DONT want the Midnight Rider to reveal himself. This is so much fun to read. Geigel really made the most of his appearance here as he also addresses the Revolution and their actions. I wonder what will become of Ladd and company??? Garvin and Embry get their titles back but the Head Hunters will be a serious threat. Looking forward to the Texas Title tournament. Kev made a great point about the Von Erich's being absent. That just shows you how strong these angles are and how you have so many main event caliber wrestlers that can deliver.
  7. MACW would like to book Bruiser Brody and Akira Maeda for June 29th.
  8. Double Chain Match! Leather Strap Match! Man, things are really getting HOT in the UWF! Bullet Bob returns to action in an awesome way by beating Khan. Ron Fuller and the Wright Army better be ready. Cant wait for Taylor/Slater. Once again, you nailed it with Ivan.

  10. Luger and Baby Doll get what they want but that Eddie Gilbert always has a trick up his sleeve. Honky Tonk Man is doing a great job hyping up the feud between him and Lawler. Cant wait for that inevitable showdown. Wow, Adonis, Street and Linda really do a number on the Long Riders. I could just imagine how livid they were. Oh yea, RnR versus the Hollywood Blondes, I'm all for that! Ut Oh, dissention in Devastation Inc. If things get out of hand, Haku and Dr. Death could be one of the most hard hitting feuds of all time. Speaking of hard hitting, Doom versus Devastation Inc. will be just that.
  11. MACW releases David Sammartino and picks up Chris Youngblood
  12. Oh snap! What an ending as Hennig upsets Tully. I know Hennig is hurt but man he's got some serious momentum going as he heads to the finals against the Hammer. Hennig does need to be careful, because if anyone can capitalize on an injury, it's Valentine. Nice set up to next week's 8 man tag match. Fun match between Michaels and Herc that ends in chaos. Looking forward to the Studd/Atlas showdown. SNME is going to be a good one and I'm sure will be a great set up to Showdown at Shea.
  13. Another couple of stacked cards! Burke and Pillman continue to be one of my favorite feuds as both men continue to trade wins. Loved that finish with Bockwinkel going over Kabuki. Zenk continues his winning ways, this time over Scorpio. Outside of his loss to Martel, I don't think Zenk has lost a match since his heel turn. Razor Boys are establishing themselves as fighting champions. Garvin and Sawyer must of been a great hard hitting brawl. The 6 man main event was awesome. Steamboat gets to shine but I'm sure the fans were talking about Leon White. Jack is starting to get the best of Sabu, but it took a piledriver on the concrete to put Sabu down. That must of been a feel good win for Adams as he super kicks Adnan down. Snake Pit seems to be back on track. Death Sentence and Sheepherders get my money every time. Sarge and DeBeers continue their hot feud. Kabuki rebounds from his loss to Bockwinkel with a win over Larry Z. Blackwell and Patera continue their roll with a big win over Spivey and Rotunda. Tanaka and Finley looked like they put on a classic.
  14. OMG puts down St. Clair. Not sure St. Clair wants to be messing with OMG as he has Tiger Jeet Singh waiting for him. I like how the tag team wrestlers have been going at it one on one. This time it's Wayne over Lane. Major win for Benoit over Raymond. Hart takes the fall but the Rougeau's send the fans home happy.
  15. MACW trades Billy Robinson to JWA for Kazuo Yamazaki
  16. MACW @ WTBS Studios TV (Recorded 6-11-86) Aired 6-14-86 Schiavone: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. With me as always is my partner David Crockett. David, a lot going on as we head towards the Great American Bash. Crockett: You said it Tony. We will be hearing from the man who will face Nikita Koloff at the Bash for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, I'm talking about the Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol. Well, we know the rematch has been signed for the Bash as Tommy Rich will defend the Television title against Tom Prichard. Things just didn't work out well last week for Rock Riddle. Schiavone: No they didn't and we will be hearing from Tommy Rich and we will be seeing Tom Prichard in action today. Also in action will be a returning Bob Backlund, Tiger Jeet Singh, Corporal Kirchner, Jimmy Valiant, the Southern Ramblers and a big 6 man tag match as Hot Property and Sweet Brown Sugar take on the Assassins and the Cobra. Crockett: Superstar Billy Graham will be in the Mid Atlantic ring today. Also the Mid Atlantic Champ, Paul Orndorff will be wrestling as well as Hacksaw Jim Duggan! Should be a great night of action. Schiavone: Indeed it should be. Fans, before we get to the action, I want to bring out my guests, the tag team of Greatness, Billy Robinson and David Sammartino. Gentleman, it seems like you haven't been on the same page of late as you've dropped two straight matches to Rolling Thunder. What's going on? Sammartino: I really wish I knew Tony. I've been focused and training hard, so I know the problem isn't me. The fans start taunting Sammartino and he yells at them and tells them to shut up. Robinson: You see David, right there, you just showed everybody why we're not coming together as a unit. I took you on as a partner because I saw something in you and just thought you needed a bit of guidance. You just cant seem to stay focused and it's bringing this team down. I have no choice but to end this relationship. Sammartino: Oh is that right? That's typical of you, put the blame on everybody but yourself. You know Billy, you weren't such a great mentor and you're not that great of a wrestler. I would love to teach you a wrestling lesson. How about you and me have a match, in that ring, tonight? I'll show you just how focused I can be. Robinson: If that's what you want kid, fine by me. Schiavone: Certainly wasn't expecting that. Ok, later on we'll see David Sammartino squaring off against Billy Robinson. Fans, let's go to the ring. Bob Backlund vs. Vic DeMarco Backlund returns from his arm injury (courtesy of Brad Rheingans) and appears to haven't lost a step as he works over DeMarco with some solid amateur wrestling. He swings DeMarco to the ropes and back drops him. He picks DeMarco up and executes the Running Atomic Drop for the pin! Backlund cuts a promo on Rheingans and says they will be hooking up soon, so get ready for a wrestling lesson. Commercial Break Superstar Billy Graham vs. Carl Hillman Graham swings Hillman to the ropes and puts him down with a back elbow smash. Graham picks up Hillman and body slams him, then body slams him again. Graham swings Hillman to the ropes and clamps on the Bear Hug. Hillman has enough and submits. Graham flexes for the cheering fans and heads to the podium. Crockett: Great to have the Superstar back. I understand you're here for a specific reason. Graham: David Crockett! The Superstar is back and feeling bad to the bone brother! I am here for a reason, actually I'm here for 10,000 reasons. That's right baby, I'm here for the 10,000 dollar challenge! This weekend in Norfolk, it's me and King Kong Bundy. JJ Dillon, I promise you brother, I'm taking that big man down and putting him through the ground! The fans boo as JJ Dillon walks out with the briefcase. JJ: With all due respect Mr. Graham, I would strongly advise you to reconsider this match and go back home. You were once an iconic figure in this industry but now you're just a broken down has been who should be in a retirement facility. This match is a joke and quite frankly Mr. Graham, you don't have a chance at winning this money. I seriously doubt you will even survive the match. So be a smart man, turn around and go home. (JJ arrogantly smiles) No shame in that. Graham: (contemplates a moment) Maybe you're right. Maybe the Superstar isn't as strong as he used to be. Why don't we shake hands and part as friends. JJ: You're a lot smarter than I thought. Ok, let's shake hands. Graham and JJ shake hands. JJ is still arrogantly smiling but that smile suddenly turns into a look of pain as Graham puts the squeeze on JJ. The briefcase falls as he starts screaming in pain. Graham: You feel that Dillon? Does it feel like I've lost my strength? JJ: (screaming) Please! Let go! Please! Graham pulls his hand away as JJ collapses in pain while holding his hand. Crockett: (Smiling and looking down at JJ) Wow! There you have it, straight from the Superstar. Will he get the 10,000 dollars? We'll find out this weekend in Norfolk. Lets go back to the ring. Rich picks London up and drops him with the Snake Eyes on the top turnbuckle then tags in Rose. Rose hits the corner sling shot splash, then drags London out and tags in Rich. The Ramblers climb up on opposite turnbuckles and crash down with a double fist drop. Rich covers for the 1..2..3! Jones runs in and raises their arms as the crowd boos. Commercial Break Schiavone: Fans, please welcome the new Television Champion, Tommy Wildfire Rich! The fans get up and cheer as Tommy Rich comes out with the TV title on his shoulder. Rich: Oh yea, these fans are fired up today! Speaking of fired up, Tommy Wildfire Rich is fired up as well! What better way to make a debut than to win this Television title here. Prichard and Riddle made the open challenge and Wildfire took that opportunity and ran with it. I want to thank all these great fans for their support and welcoming me in. I can guarantee everybody here that Tommy Rich will be a fighting champion and It's not in me to duck a challenge. Kirchner hoists Portman up and drops him with the Fallaway Slam for the pin! I told you, the blood of Antonio Inoki will be on your hands! I assure you, myself and Abdullah the Butcher will make both of you bleed and suffer! Commercial Break Crockett: Very disturbing message sent by Tiger Jeet Singh, I hope that young man Gary Williams will be ok. Fans, before we go to the ring, please welcome the man who will wrestle for the NWA World Title at the Great American Bash, Austin Idol. The fans cheer as Idol winks and gives them a right arm bicep pose. Crockett: Austin, you get a shot at the World Title. How do you feel about going up against the most dangerous man in the NWA, Nikita Koloff? Idol: No question about it, Nikita Koloff is a devastating force to be reckoned with. However, Austin Idol has been in there with the best wrestlers in the world. I've won many titles and won the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup last year. I've been to the big dances and came out on top. I don't care how big and bad Nikita Koloff is, he has something I want very badly and that's the NWA World title baby and the Universal Heartthrob is coming to get it! Crockett: Should be an outstanding match up come July 2nd at the Great American Bash. Back to the ring. 'Boogie Woogie Man' Jimmy Valiant vs. Dave Penson The fans cheer as Jimmy dances around the ring then punches away on Penson. He swings Penson to the ropes and back drops him. Jimmy swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop to get the pin! Valiant heads to the podium. Schiavone: Jimmy, it's you and Rip Oliver at the Bash. It looks like there's trouble in the Jones Army. Your thoughts? Valiant: Paul Jones problems don't concern me. What concerns me is a man hitting me with a cane. Oliver has done just that, so at the Great American Bash, Oliver is the task at hand and if Paul Jones wants to get involved, go ahead, because nothing makes me happier than punching his face! Commercial Break Billy Robinson vs. David Sammartino The bell rings and the fans really give it to David. David cant control himself as he yells and argues with the fans. Robinson just stands there and shakes his head. Finally Robinson walks over and swings David around and starts to lecture him. David doesn't want to listen and slaps Robinson. Robinson grins then hammers away on David with European uppercuts. Robinson swings David to the ropes and puts him down with a forearm smash. David staggers up and Robinson executes a belly to back suplex then quickly follows with a gut wrench suplex. He body slams David then picks him up and hits a side slam backbreaker. He hoists Richards up and crashes him down with the Piledriver for the pin! Orndorff flexes to the cheering fans and heads to the podium. Crockett: Well Paul, its you and Harley Race, No disqualification for the Mid Atlantic Title at the Great American Bash. Last week, Harley had some choice words for you. Orndorff: I heard what he said. Let me tell you something Harley, this isn't your title anymore. It's mine! You and me, No DQ, which means I can piledrive you anywhere I damn well please. Don't think for one second, your taking this title from me. I beat you for it and I'm going to beat you again! Commercial Break 'The Doctor of Desire' Tom Prichard w/ Rock Riddle vs. Roger Murphy Prichard isn't playing around this week as he swings Murphy hard into the turnbuckles. Prichard covers 1..2..3! Riddle runs in and raises Prichard's arm to the booing crowd, then they head to the podium. Crockett: (smiling) Hey Rock, how's it going? Riddle: Oh Davey baby, I'm sure you're just loving this, aren't you? I'm surprised and disappointed at you. You have been my guy and the Agency always treated you with the upmost respect and what do we get in return? You laughing and having a grand ol time at Tom Prichard losing his TV title. Well guess what? The Agency's gem here isn't going to just sulk in defeat. You know Davey baby, a lot of movies open big at the box office then fizzle out. That is the reign Tommy Rich is going to have, because at the Great American Bash, Tom Prichard, a true box office smash, will regain his TV title! Prichard: That's exactly right! Tommy Rich, you don't have the star appeal or charisma to be Television Champion. Bottom line is, you're not on the A list baby and at the Great American Bash, I'm going to regain that title and regain my spot as the number one box office attraction in wrestling! Commercial Break Hot Property and Sweet Brown Sugar vs. The Assassins and Cobra w/ The Assassin The bell rings and a pier six brawl is on! The Ref lets it go as the wrestlers fight. Hot Property swings both Assassins to the ropes and drop kick them through the ropes. Sugar swings Cobra to the ropes and drop kicks him out of the ring. Cobra swings Sugar to the ropes, Sugar leapfrogs over Cobra, swings back and hits a flying body press 1,,2 kick out. Sugar tags in Travis. Travis swings Cobra to the ropes and back drops him, then tags in Savoldi, who climbs up on the top turnbuckle. Cobra staggers up and Savoldi nails him with a Missile drop kick 1..2..Assasins run in and break the count, causing another pier six brawl. As the Ref is guiding Travis and Sugar to the corner, the Assassins pick up Savoldi and drop him with a double stomach breaker. Cobra rolls over and tags in Assassin 1. Assassin 1 drops several knees on Savoldi, body slams him and tags in Assassin 2, who drops a flying knee drop from the 2nd turnbuckle. Assassin 2 covers 1..2..Travis and Sugar break the count, causing yet another brawl. Everybody is fighting. On the outside, The Assassin is putting a foreign object in his mask and gets up on the apron. Assassin 2 lifts up Savoldi, puts his arms behind his back and takes him towards the Assassin. Assassin goes for a headbutt, Savoldi ducks and Assassin headbutts Assassin 2. Savoldi falls on top of Assassin 2. The Ref jumps over and counts 1..2..3!!! Sugar and Cobra are still fighting in one corner as Travis and Assassin 1 are fighting in another corner. Commercial Break Schiavone: What a wild ending to a wild match as Hot Property and Sweet Brown Sugar take advantage of an Assassin miscue and win the match. Fans, lets go to the ring as Hacksaw Jim Duggan is set for action. Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Tim Straw Duggan body slams Straw, swings off the ropes and hits a delayed knee drop. Duggan picks up Straw, runs around the ring with him and drops him with the Powerslam. Duggan backs up and gets in a 3 point stance. Straw staggers up, Duggan charges and hits the running clothesline for the pin! The fans cheer as Duggan gives them the thumbs up. Rude and Fernandez raise Dibiase's arms in the air. The fans boo as the show ends.
  17. The Guerreros awesome title reign comes to an end. Bock, Larry Z and Saito will be tough to beat. Cactus prevails over Sabu in another crazy match. This is one of those feuds where both men will come out stars. Patera and Blackwell have been looking strong lately. Jake is going full on heel, with his guidance, Nord could become a serious force. If Chris Adams is looking for allies, Ron Garvin is a good guy to have on your side. Tanaka and Pillman alone is worth the price of admission. The fans in San Fran get a nice surprise in Bam Bam Bigelow and get a great world title match. Looking forward to seeing where that goes.
  18. Strong showing by DeBeers. Neighborhood of Evil continues their winning ways. Zenk is on such a roll here, I think it's only a matter of time before he's wearing gold. I'm loving the morphing of Leon White. It's only a matter of time now. Oh man, I'm sensing the Snake coming out in Jake. Adams is going to need some help real soon. How much more can Spivey take? However, he keeps beating the odds and running wild.
  19. Fantastic promo by Borne. I really love his character here. The Adias/Karen date was hilarious, and topped off by Sunny throwing Adias into the Hot Dog Stand LOL. This could be a fun feud. The Kokina/OMG feud is really heating up. Kernodle is really in the head of Jacques. Cant wait until they meet one on one. Andre vs. Candido is a treat. Looks like Candido did alright against Andre. The SST end the show with a huge statement to the other tag teams. All this and Lawler is coming to town!
  20. MACW Great American Bash 86 Update w/Bob Caudle Bob Caudle: Hello again everybody and welcome to another Great American Bash update. As you know the Great American Bash takes place in Charlotte NC in the Memorial Stadium on July 2nd. It should be a hot night of wrestling action with a fireworks show to follow. Well fans after everything that's gone down the past couple of weeks, all the matches at the Bash are now officially set. Austin Idol defeated Rob Fuller to earn an NWA World Title match against Nikita Koloff. We all saw the highlights of the tag team battle royal last week on TV. Los Infernales came out the winners and will get a US Tag Team title match at the Bash, taking on champs, Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley. After what transpired in Greensboro, Skandor Akbar demanded his man Haku get a rematch for the NWA National Title. Jimmy Snuka didn't hesitate to accept the challenge. We all witnessed Tom Prichard loose the TV Title last week, as Tommy Rich showed up to answer the open challenge. A rematch has been signed for the Bash. So there you have it fans, the title matches are set for the Bash. Fans I want to show you some footage from WCCW's Parade of Champions and what happened to The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Footage is shown of Dusty's hard fought match against Stan Hansen, then the attack by the Freebirds. Bob Caudle: Obviously the Freebirds were out to collect the bounty put on the Dream's head by one Ted Dibiase. Dusty Rhodes is in the Hospital and is talking retirement. Will he show up at the Bash to face Stan Hansen? It looks like the odds are against it. I want to take to you to comments made by Stan Hansen, earlier this week. Stan Hansen: Dusty Rhodes! You're nothing but a spineless coward! While you're in the Hospital, crying and sulking, why don't you have the Doctors check out that long yellow streak down your back. I gave you the beating of your life at Parade of Champions and now you want to chicken out of our rematch at the Bash. You're gutless Rhodes! I'm showing up in Charlotte on July 2nd and I'm showing up to fight! If you have just an ounce of courage Rhodes, please show up so I can finish the job! Bob Caudle: Some very strong words from Stan Hansen. Fans, I've never seen Dusty Rhodes in this state of mind. I just don't know if he will make it on July 2nd. Fans, that's it for this week's update. Thanks for joining me and see you next time. Great American Bash 86, Charlotte NC Memorial Stadium 7-2-86 NWA World Heavyweight Title Bout Nikita Koloff © vs. 'The Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol US Title Bout- Steel Cage 'Million Dollar Man' Ted Dibiase © vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan US Tag Team Title Bout Rocky Johnson and Wendell Cooley © vs. Los Infernales Mid Atlantic Title Bout- NO DQ 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff © vs. Harley Race NWA National Title Bout 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka © vs. Haku w/ Skandor Akbar TV Title Bout Tommy 'Wildfire' Rich © vs. 'The Doctor of Desire' Tom Prichard w/ Rock Riddle 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes vs. Stan 'The Lariat' Hansen- ??? Corporal Kirchner/ Rougeau Brothers vs. Canadian International Champ Don Kernodle/Caspian Empire Tony St. Clair and Antonio Inoki vs. WWC Champ Abdullah the Butcher and Tiger Jeet Singh 'Boogie Woogie Man' Jimmy Valiant vs. Rip Oliver w/ Paul Jones AND AWA World Heavyweight Championship Bout Ricky Steamboat © vs. Jerry Blackwell
  21. Edger is right, never a dull moment in WCCW. I really love the way you incorporate what's going on behind the scenes. This will be very interesting.
  22. Big win for Dr. D. Not many wrestlers can out brawl Stan Hansen. I give it up for Brito, he hung in there for 11 minutes against the Rougeaus. Adias's date with Karen should be interesting. Huge main event. Looks like Kernodle and OMG make quite a team as they almost take the Road Warriors to the limit.
  23. Huge upset as Dundee and Douglas defeat Jake and Nord, man that's a big time win right there. The Guerreros are on quite then roll of late. This time Pillman gets the win over Burke. Tanaka is one of the best champions in the game right now. Despite being hurt, SpiveyMania beats the odds and successfully retains his title.
  24. Guerreros get a big win over Snake Pit with some help from Chavo. Hmmmmm, a Snake Pit/Guerrero feud could be very interesting. Sabu picks up a great win over Jack. Slaughter and DeBeers continue their fun feud. Nice title defense for the Razor Boys as they beat the tough team of Saito and Larry Z. I could watch Steamboat and Orton go at it all day. I wonder who Piper has in mind to challenge Steamboat? I'm really hoping this all leads to a Steamboat/Piper showdown. That match would sell out arenas everywhere.
  25. The chase finally pays off as British Steel wins the Southern titles. Great pay off! I continue to love the Burke/Pillman gem feud and like how they're trading wins. Patera and Blackwell get a huge win, taking advantage of Spivey's injury. I think Spivey's title reign is in jeopardy. Death Sentence and Sheepherders give the fans a hardcore brawl. This could turn into one bloody feud. Cool seeing Leon White morphing. Tanaka and Sano put on a clinic. Sawyer was on his A game tonight and I could imagine the selling by Steamboat. Great title defense for Steamboat as his roll continues.
