  1. Need to see the Mochi match, I remember really liking the title win but was a little shocked by the win I should probably rewatch that as well
  2. I was really impressed by the Brave Gate match from DOA Yosuke is filling the role as "workrate" champion very well and even had be buying Ryu falsies when I knew there was no way he was going to win the title. Great stuff hope they keep Yosuke as a semi-serious character from now on
  3. Neville is another example of this. It just sounds incredibly mundane. Not helped by the fact that it can be both a first and a last name in Britain. In his case though it was originally his character's surname just like Rusev. Speaking of this what about Big E WTF am I meant to take away from that one?
  4. I love Gulak
  5. Kyle O'Reilly had felt like he was built up perfectly to be the next challenger as he was cheated out of his title shot at ASE, then he was in a 3-way where he wasn't pinned, and finally he dispatched his greatest rival, that happened to be the man that cost him the victory in both those title shots, though it's probably too soon to go right back to giving him another title match and having him lose clean to Naito probably doesn't help. I say this even if some people who happen to be the the same podcast as me seem to think looks like a "goober".
  6. Who would you put the title on that fits these important ROH criteria for champion: 1. under ROH exclusive contract 2. is not used regularly for NJPW and is available to work ever every ROH date 3. Has not and probably will not have any type of social media scandal that could tarnish the reputation of the company 4. is unlikely to get raided by the WWE 5. can talk and wrestle at a level that is acceptable as "Top ROH guy" 6. excites no one out side of the already established ROH fan base. Now if you can find a guy that more perfectly fits these ROH champion materiel requisites than Jay Lethal does then they should have the belt ASAP.
  7. Spirt Squad all went by just plain first names and it could be said that was meant to be dismissive similar as it is to the women
  8. Lets try to not use the closed minded tact of over politicizing words. As in "safe space" means exactly what it means and not what it has come to denoted based on different political posturing. Thus this folder is a space that is safe for any views no matter what way they lean as in it's just as safe for right wingers as it is for left. That being said I agree with the over all sentiment that this folder should be open to bigger picture stuff in general. In fact myself as a pretty ardent socialist would love it if someone was to make a topic about more a Austrian economic school view of the recent Ryback pay scale rant. Seems like there would be a lot of room to argue that if he has an issue with his pay he could let the free market decide what he is actually worth but, with WWE as a defacto monopoly on America wrestling is there such a thing? Anyway lets say this is folder for people who feel they are mentally strong enough to read others espousing ideals and concepts they do not agree with, and debate back thoughtfully with out being trigger into using dismissive and judgmental tones.
  9. You should reveal during between May 21st and June 21st as then it will be under the astrological sign of Gemini which I'd say the twins are perfect to represent Tag Teams.
  10. You should start a DG thread and force feed it. I've tried getting into it on various occasions, usually after an Alan4L touts something as the greatest thing he's seen. While nothing's connected anywhere near that level yet, I'm determined to figure out what or why I'm missing before I tap out. When the Dead or Alive PPV hits the Internet, I'll start a thread. Should be rather soon. It's up and I'll frequent the thread it will for sure it will also help me get back in the habit of watch DG as it happens not saving up months worth before finally watching (I still need to see Lindaman v T-Hawk from last month)
  11. Didn't freelance do this last time as well? Rude Boy Riley in the title main he is quickly becoming one of my boys he's very crisp and very verstile.
  12. I don't know if I can completely buy into this but, I see the point. The problem isn't the weight classes but that fans haven't been educated properly to understand them well. When boxing was most popular people understood that lighter weight guys would move up weight classes based on their talent and yearning for more challenges. If Conor McGregor had came through on his promise to move up a weightclass and win a championship that may have helped to put the concept back in peoples mind as it would remind people that it is possible if not rare but he lose has the opposite effect. Part of what made or makes wrestling work is that it is worked so some that is rare in other sports can happen more often in wrestling causing a more entertaining product although when something seems to be impossible because it can't happen ever in other sports then it just makes wrestling look fake and unrealistic.
  13. I saw it very similar to Pete actually Liger opening focus was the leg and he switched to the arm mid match almost to the point that I forgot the leg work until he get a dragon screw and started back on the leg so for me I was actually so caught up in the match that I couldn't even see that nit to pick.
  14. I've noticed the phenomenon of gender neutral or masculine usernames being used by women online for years. I've also noticed that often it must be subconscious or an initial concern that subsides as, the same women with neutral/male names tend to free mention and acknowledge their genders. Is the internet a friendlier place than we all give it credit for?
  15. We will be reviewing PWX Rise of a Champion on the next episode of This Week In Wrestling and I have some thoughts especially on Hero v Cedric

  17. But you swear you're not a heel? SMH Yeah why the hell did you not see her again? That's a pretty cool thing for a person to do after 1 date. I'll give you that her taste is music isn't great but really how much time in adult relationships do you really spend listening to music together? I was even going to attack her for her choice of Dub Step as a lot of those songs I would not classify that way but she saves it with "Dubstep derived"
  18. The bad booking making it feel like no one is a star is only half of it because, the bad booking also soured casual fans to the point they are less inclined to watch any wrestling at all. This is why even when TNA signs Hardy, Angle, and Hogan it doesn't move the needle. People in general are completely turned off by the idea of watching wrestling as entertainment period no matter who the wrestlers are.
  19. Enjoyed the Garvin talk not sure if he would have stuck around and accepted a jobber role might be why they just told him to leave. I've heard the "lights out match" used to mean a match that is "unsanctioned" as in they turn the lights out and then turn them back on to symbolize the end of the show implying that the match after is not part of the promotion so they won't be held responsible for what happens, they tend to then just be no DQ or street fights.
  20. By the strictest definition Feminism is squarely about men and women being treated equal in all ways. That is not to discount your point only redirect that what you are talking about is the concept that I've heard referred to as "Atheist plus". Which is a way to denote that topics and titles aren't enough to completely encompass the totality of a persons views and beliefs. Ship Canal alluded to this construct early on in the conversation with a more nuanced construct of personal description. So yes myself as a social-feminist I do take umbrage with the way wrestling companies treat their employees as independent contractors and don't give them the option to use collective bargaining but, that's not exactly a feminist issue.
  21. I edited it I guess there should be a uniformed format for the thread as I was just following the format of the nominations above me Also, questioning lack of punctuation while improperly using it in the same post is some what comical.
  22. Nominations: WWN Tracy Williams vs Matt Riddle (WWN Mercury Rising 04/02/2016) Piggy backing off the match at Evolve nom I'd say it's not crazy at all to liken these two to any other storied career long rivals I've compared them to Shawn and Bret and Steen and Generico. This match was a great build of that tension they already had adding to their sibling rivalryesque with both being members of the same stable. PWG Marty Scurll v Kyle O'Reily (PWG ASW 12 Night 1 03/04/2016) This was the best showing of the Marty Scurll that is in my conversation for top 10 workers in the world right now that I've seen while Kyle is always firmly in that conversation more so PWG the company he has very openly and vocally refereed to as his home. Never got overly goofy and absolutely brought it trading holds and striking, this match would fit anywhere from NXT to BattleArts. Easily in the top 5 matches I've seen live.
  23. This match was amazing Bodyguard is way too good for a name that looks like him and is named Bodyguard while Zeus is even better and those are the 2 "weak links" of the match while you could on paper also say Daichi is as well because he's so young that is blown way out of the water as his interactions with Akiyama are to die for yes Akiyama as grumpy old man kicking the crap out of rookie punks is always a thing of beauty Daichi has the fire and passion to not only make you feel sympathy for him but also buy in to his comebacks huge. I want to say if you watch one AJPW match this year this is a strong contender for being my recommendation to be that match while other matches have been better (Suwama v Akiyama comes to mind) this match really gives you an amazing cross section of what is happening in AJPW (even if half these guys are BJW wrorkers) while also being a really nice self contained perfect in a bubble match. With all that said it was a little long with some over kill but not too much and over all I'd say it's very good without being quite great probably say easily 3 1/2*
  24. Because I hate seeing them blank I'll fill in PWG and ROH Drew Gulak vs Timothy Thatcher (PWG Lemmy 01/02/2016) Akira Tozawa vs ZSJ (PWG Lemmy 01/02/2016) Adam Cole vs Kyle O'Reily fight without honor (ROH Super Card of Honor Night 2 04/02/2016)
  25. Fuji was a Japanese American. He had some Japanese hertiage even though he was born in Hawaii. You mentioned Adnan playing a Native American and that's similar to playing blackface cause that's not his heritage and it would be insulting for actual Native Americans to see. Let's be modern here for a second: Thea Trinidad and Sara Stock played Mexicans named Rosita and Sarita in TNA. Trinidad is Puerto Rican and Stock is Canadian. Was it radically progressive when they were in the ring Hernadez and I forget the other guy having Cinco De Mayo in the ring as heels? The other guy was Anarquia who also wrestled as Low-rider but not the good one
