    Not usually the kind of match I like but the urgency and drama really puts this over the top. All the counters are great and make perfect sense given how well they knew each other and them busting out new offense also put over the desperation. *** 3/4

    The level of complexity in this match is just mind blowing. Someone during one of the GWE podcasts said that no other two wrestlers ever could have had a match like this and I think it is definitely true. ****1/2 What I had said about about Misawa's arm selling and Kobashi in some other thread.

    Rewatched this and it is better than I remember. The first half was pretty great with the power vs smarts dynamic with Shawn adding cool heelish touches and his desperation was great. The second half still doesn't do it for me but I get why people might like it. *** 1/2 but I still think their rematch and the 97 HIAC smoke this. One thing I will say is that I honestly think Shawn was legitimately great between 2002-2010, atleast during the bigger matches, and feel sometimes the criticisms against him can be overblown.

    Good but nothing more than that and definitely not an all time classic. The first 7-8 minutes were great and interesting but then it went kind of downhill. Kurt's back work was uninspired and Shawn's forgetting about it didn't help matters. The finishing stretch also wasn't anything special. Still overall not bad. Shawn looked good and I thought was carrying the load here. *** 1/4

    Beautiful wrestling match. The balance they struck between everything looking pretty/smooth/fluid and yet having an incredible sense of struggle, intensity and violence behind it all is very impressive.

    Maybe the most emotional match in the history of pro wrestling. Never have I ever seen a crowd that emotionally invested in a match, excluding maybe only Atlantis vs. V3. It has some issues that prevent it from being absolute top tier but it is one of those definitive must see matches. **** 1/2

    The best of the Fujinami-Choshu singles series, featuring a masterful performance by Fujinami. A story of pride and honor. **** 1/4

    One of the all time great 1 hour draws and also easily the best Jumbo vs. Flair match ever. **** 1/4

    Very good stuff. Hard fought and they managed to generate quite a bit of drama. Lita was good as the babyface challenger and Trish was great as the desperate heel champion. *** 1/2 This time the roles were completely reversed and both adapted to them well. Another good match. *** 1/4

    The most impressive thing about this match is that in 90 minutes there is literally no downtime at all. Even the Inoki vs. Choshu matwork was compelling. The crowd heat is insane and the fact that that level of heat was consistently maintained for 90 minutes is even more insane. I would say Fujinami was the MVP with Animal as a close second but everyone was great in it. Incredible match to say the least but one I have had trouble rating because it is difficult to distinguish the individual pairings from the overall story.

    Watched this based on the high ranking and it was quite good. The character work was interesting and Mickie's work on Trish's leg looked really good and Trish sold it extremely well. Also the finish is a good example for why penalizing matches for botches can be counterproductive as the messed up spot at the end can be seen as a positive by saying Trish's bad leg buckled (which adds to the match) instead of treating it like negative and saying they screwed up. *** 1/2

    Basically all of her 1993 singles stuff against different opponents, the Kandori feud and Queendom, and the 8/94 elimination tag. Queendom and 8/94 tags are among the most ambitious matches ever and she is the driving force for them successfully reaching that top tier GOAT level, IMO. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT 1. Stan Hansen - Great in the 90s, but his 80s All Japan and some of his AWA stuff was infuriating. One dimensional, bad selling, bad transitions and often dragged down matches to be honest. 2. Toshiaki Kawada - Incredible 1994-95 that was enough for top half finish for me but don't think he is that great outside of that period. 3. Jaguar Yokota - I ranked her well, but I don't think she is as good as her contemporaries MOST UNDERRATED 1. Alexander Otsuka - One of the most skilled wrestlers I have ever seen. Could incorporate anything into his matches organically, and also a brilliant seller. 2. Black Terry - Someone I ranked way too low. Amazing wrestler who can brawl and work on the mat, play face or heel. Gives a great performance in every match he is placed in. 3. Naoki Sano - Had great matches in a variety of styles over a long period of time. BIGGEST SURPRISE/DISCOVERY 1. Jerry Lawler - Someone whose work has completely changed my perception of old school US territory wrestling. His simple minimalist approach works perfectly and he can have a good match with basically anyone. 2. Nick Bockwinkel - Someone I had heard a lot about but hadn't watched much of. His AWA work is out of this world great and he showed tremendous range. His work in Japan is pretty disappointing but his overall greatness is pretty evident 3. Shigeo Miyato - Some random shoot style guy I had never heard of who blew me away with incredible performances between 1988-90 and some after that.

    Seems like fun MOST CONSISTENT 1. Kiyoshi Tamura - Match for Match, the best ever 2. Buddy Rose - Regardless of opponent or length of match, always did something fun and exciting to make every match compelling. 3. Rey Mysterio Jr. - His style and approach works against basically everyone and always produces good matches HIGHEST PEAK 1. Akira Hokuto - When it came to epic storytelling and drama, she was unmatched 2. El Satanico - Mastered every aspect of pro wrestling to have amazing, different matches with whoever he faced 3. El Dandy - Versatility, nuff said 4. Mitsuharu Misawa - Height of his powers ace Misawa was a sight to behold BEST ALL ROUND WORKER 1. Tatsumi Fujinami - Could have a good to great match with anyone in any style. 2. El Dandy - Brawl, matwork, high fly, high impact stuff he could do it all. Could also play different variations of rudo and technico. 3. Terry Funk - Range from lovable babyface to sadistic psycho and everything in between. Could do technical, brawls, hardcore etc.

    Every bit of information I've found about this match on the almighty internet had led me to believe this is the match in question. If that is indeed correct well.......I didn't care much for it. I found it amusing that they used "exposing Flair's ass" as a highspot. There was a spot where Morton went for an O'Connor Roll but Flair hung on to the ropes after which O'Connor did a backward somersault. It's a spot we've all seen about a million times. Here Morton sold it like it was an actual bump which looked incredibly stupid and a lazy means of transition. A lot of mediocre brawling. I liked Morton's Hiptoss/Dropkick combo. **1/2 The match you linked is not it. This is the match in question. After a rewatch, I think the GAB Morton cage match is easily his best non-Steamboat match with maybe his best performance. I honestly feel he was better in brawl/hard-hitting style type stuff than in his more traditional title defenses.

    Watched this based on the review above and it actually is a really good match. Surprisingly violent and the theme of power vs. speed/smarts was played to great effect. The match was also filled with great selling by both but particularly by Reigns. His selling of the hurt hamstring was amazing. He looked really really good in this and it's unfortunate he will never get the credit for it as per the John Cena syndrome because of his unpopularity it somehow means he is a terrible wrestler. *** 3/4 The overbooking was unnecessary but didn't really hurt the match. For a moment, I thought this suddenly turned into El Satanico vs. El Dandy after the lowblow spot but Styles was not actually faking.

    The greatness of El Satanico, in his 50s carries a mediocre opponent to a very good match with his offense, selling and by adding little touches to the match. ****

    This is a MOTDC for me. Regal's best performance ever which is really saying something. This had it all. Violence, character work, awesome facial expressions and selling and tremendous psychology. Extremely well structured and paced too, had no wasted moments. **** 1/2 - **** 3/4
