  1. Stan Hansen vs. Carlos Colon WWC 10/12/1986 Awesome match with a great Hansen performance. He combined his relentless attack with great stooging and desperation. I also finally saw the great Hansen selling people talk about. Colon also showed great fire and intensity. **** Honestly Hansen looked a thousand times better in this setting than in the majority of 80s All Japan. Most of his 80s All Japan stuff (and some AWA stuff) left such a bad taste in my mouth that I decided to leave him off my ballot completely and didn't watch more of him. If the rest of the Colon feud is this good, it combined with his 90s stuff (which ranges from pretty good to great for me), might overcome a lot of his stuff that drives me nuts and turn me around on Stan Hansen.
  2. So close, almost a Top 5 finish for Liger. Had him at #3, incredible wrestler in every way. So Misawa wins #1 Japanese born wrestler on this list. Can't really argue with that. Also happy about Kobashi's placement. I thought he was suffering a backlash similar to Jumbo but am glad he made it.
  3. Actually I am disappointed Jumbo didn't make it either. I get some of the criticisms but sometimes I feel his 1980-84 "down" period gets overplayed. Great in the 70s, tremendous in the early 90s and from what I have seen for the 80s in general, I would say he was definitely a Top 10 worker in the world for the 80s.
  4. That Jumbo photo is the greatest one so far. Disappointed Tenryu didn't make the top 10. Funny with the general backlash against Jumbo and the increase in Tenryu's stock, Jumbo still ranked ahead.
  5. This is basically an extended squash for Han to get his win back from the 7/92 upset but is still a very good match. Han is like a terminator here, just going after Kopylov with awesome submissions and great strikes. There is a spot where Han literally leaps on him. In the end, they tease the finish of the 7/92 match in a fantastic spot but this time the outcome is not the same. *** 3/4
  6. I would love to see reactions to Cena over Shawn. Also the WCW jobber El Dandy making the 30s. Also WWE commentator Jerry Lawler making Top 20 (maybe 10)
  7. Buddy Rose
  8. Huge jump in points from Arn to Savage
  9. Whereas someone like Mick Foley just creeps me the fuck out. IDK I can't really vote for a guy taking all these stupid bumps when he's doing pathetic company shilling rants and is working the creepiest white male feminist gimmick ever. I mean I'd totally do it if I truly cared about his work but. Nah. edit: should note triple h being a 4/10 wrestler wouldn't classify under the dumb shit said by bret hart, seem about right really, might be slightly overrating him That 4/10 thing was referring to one of his matches, not him as a wrestler per say.
  10. Well that was anticlimatic. Maybe I just fooled myself into thinking Casas could finish in the Top 10. But the fact that 48% of the people who ranked him had him in their Top 10 is pretty impressive. He was my #4
  11. If you value peak over duration of quality, you could argue Taue peaked higher and had more all time classic level matches. I had Taue at 20 and Jun at 9, while top quarter finish would have been ideal, I am glad they ended up relatively high. Also, Regal in Top 25 is a pleasant surprise
  12. Really well put and I agree with basically everything said. I had Satanico at 2 and Dandy at 10.
  13. I refuse for people to think of El Dandy like that. Someone used it as a comment, but I cut it out. I want that association to go away. Agreed. If someone tries to legitimately praise El Dandy in other places, "who are you to doubt El Dandy" or "one heck of a wrestler" come up and the whole thing turns into a joke.
  14. Also based on the data Grimmas provided, it is possible Casas made the Top 10 which would be a huge victory for lucha.
  15. Personally for me the only thing disappointing about the list is the demise of Joshi and maybe some shoot-style/battlarts people not doing as well as I would have liked. Otherwise the list is pretty much what you would expect with the top mainstream US and Japanese names dominating because they are universally considered great and are on most of the ballots. Only the absolute top tier, most well known lucha guys are still in the mix.
  16. Really glad El Dandy made the top 50. Also, never ever expected Mick Foley to make the Top 50. Had him in my 60s somewhere.
  17. That's true only one female in the top 50, that's nuts.
  18. Even though he didn't make many ballots, Tamura's final rank is still insanely disappointing for me. Was hoping he would make atleast the top half. The first of my top 10 to fall.
  19. Interesting. The No. 1 is a clear No. 1. Data that strongly supports my Flair as the easy #1 prediction. Could be wrong though. Could be Daniel Bryan for all we know.
  20. Glad Hase and Atlantis made it comfortably. I underrated Hase on my list, had him at around 60 when it should have been closer to 45. Great skill + great character work and charisma. Jvk is not wrong in raving about him. Atlantis is one of the all time great technicos with ridiculous longevity.
  21. I mean I think Flair is a great wrestler and one of the best ones from the US in the the 1980s. His volume of decent to good stuff is pretty crazy. Just don't agree his best years blow someone like Fujinami's best years out of the water.
  22. Also, based on what I have seen, I would say Fujinami was a strong contender for worker of the year for atleast 1983, 1986, 1988. For Flair his 1985 was extremely impressive for sheer volume alone. No ***** matches, but nearly all matches I would say were **** or better but more importantly an insane amount of variety and range.
  23. If you hold everyone to the standards of Flair's best ever years then only a handful of guys ever came close to being on that level. I wouldn't give Fujinami a single year at that level, and I think Fujinami has some outstanding years. I would say Fujinami's 1980 is better than any Flair year except maybe 1989.
  24. Phantom punches was one thing that always bothered me about US wrestling. Lawler was the guy who turned me around on them so have to go with him for that.
