That's the match I mentioned in my above post. It's censored pretty bad (and hilarious), but here's the vid to what aired on TNT.

I also really like long podcasts, but they're sometimes hard to fit into my day. A length of about 90-120 minutes is ideal, that way I can listen to it on the way to work and back again. If it's longer, I'll just listen to the rest at home.

I've only seen him on TNT, but that piece in his house with his wife and kids and also the match against Hogan, although he was beeing pummeled pretty much all the time, really had me interested. I'll need to seek out some of his stuff one of these days.

Least Favorite Wrestling Move/Strike in Pro Wrestling
Gutenberger replied to TheU_2001's topic in Pro Wrestling
I like Sweet Chin Music. Yes, it has a long announcement, but if failed most of the time, anyway. But I much more liked the sudden execution which could come out of nowhere. Best example would be Survivor Series '09, where the Triple Threat starts with it. Out of nowhere! -
Has ROH Gotten TOO Big For It's Own Good
Gutenberger replied to dkookypunk43's topic in Pro Wrestling
I started watching ROH fall of last year and was really interested. But when I startet a new job in januarry and thus had to cut off some of the stuff I watch, it was the first thing I scrapped without even thinking too much about it, because it just failed to keep my interest. -
Separate But Equal?: The ultimate goal of Feminism in wrestling
Gutenberger replied to Luchaundead's topic in Pro Wrestling
Who ? No disrespect, but I don't think it's seen exactly like being the child of a former mainstream WWE/NWA guy, especially to those guys in Titan Tower. Foley's daughter is wrestling ? Yeah. that seems to be tho main focus of that new show, Holy Foley, him training her and thus resulting in comedic/awkward moments -

Foley's daughter is getting in there too. -

I've noticed an influx of 2nd generation female wrestlers lately. Do you think there is a connection between the goal of gaining more acceptance for Women's wrestling and this, in a way of "well, we got this ladies who have famous surnames, they sure will be respected because of that" or ist it just coincidence that they're coming up now? -
Why exactly is Dean Ambrose the lone focal point in the Extreme Rules spot? He's in a meaningless midcard feud with Chris jericho and, iirc, there hasn't even been announced a match between them on that show. Puzzling.

Just how good are American Alpha? Not only really good wrestlers but also incedibly entertaining. They make so many things so good. I loved the spot in the last two matches where Jordan pulls up his straps only to take 'em down again. and I popped for that Steiners tribute.

I've always found Owen to be more interesting character-wise and in facial expressions. I'm also, 'til this day, more entertained by his matches than Bret's. That SummerSlam match from '94 was one of my early favorites, and still has a very special place in my heart.

Yeah, 5 minutes as in fighting through that opening montage and skipping into random parts of the video while smoking a cigarette. That was my minimum target, persevering the length of a cigarette. And I did it!
-
Looked into it for about 5 mins, then turned off. The video for good and me for a long time...

Same thing in Germany. They even do subtitles for some of the accents on the TV. German subs for german language, for crying out loud!

An example for Gimmick first, Wrestler last would be Mr. Perfect and the Red Rooster, wehre they hab both these gimmicks and weren't sure whom they should be given to.

A well executed DDT always has me excited. But only the "plant face on the mat" variant, I don't like the ones where they roll over. I think it just looks weak.

NWA-TNA 2003 aka a passive-agressive way to deal with depression
Gutenberger replied to El-P's topic in Pro Wrestling
I loved Also known as the one and only Kizarny! I loved the Kizarny vignettes and was so excited for his debut, because it was just so wonderfully strange. Well, we've all seen how that went! -
And they really seem to be strapping a rocket on Cass' back as long an Enzo isn't around. Maybe a test to see where they can go with him?

Sounds more crazy than cool to me. . . A little overboarding on the gift side.

On a related note, what do you think of the decline of "gimmicky names"? I got a feeling almost everybody who is new to WWE today are referred to be their rl names, or something sounding like it COULD be at least. The only recent example for a non-name would be No Way Jose, not counting names like The Miz, who has been around for a long time, or Kane who, well, is around since 1883. Does this add to the realistic feel for you? -
Cultural respect and differential treatment in wrestling
Gutenberger replied to MoS's topic in Pro Wrestling
I don't think it has improved, nor do I think it ever will. As long as there is something you can exploit ot further storylines, it will be done. -
Tracking the 'Real' World Champion
Gutenberger replied to kingliam's topic in Publications and Podcasts
That was a really fun read up until now. Thank your for that, I'm looking forward to more! -
I really enjoyed this one, a great history lessen. One suggestion though, when you're talking about matches available on Youtube, you could put links inthe the info text. I often listen to podcasts on the way to and from work and tend to forget to seek them out later, so by giving the link I could bookmark it insantly on my smartphone.

Wrestling's radically progressive view of race and nationality
Gutenberger replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yes. That is pure dedication. "The champion of ALL Germany" though. . . -
I can't stand No Way Jose. I don't like his act, and i think his baseball offense is just goofy.
