[2018-10-28-WWE-Evolution] Kairi Sane vs Shayna Baszler
SirEdger replied to donsem43's topic in October 2018
My favorite match from the Evolution PPV. I agree with you that Kairi's selling was tremendous during that match. It just helped overall with Shayna' sadistic strategy. As for the finish, I don't know if it's because Evolution was a significant and special PPV for the occasion, but I don't necessarily think it was the best moment to have them debut Marina Shaffir & Jessamyn Duke as Shayna's muscles. To me, would've been better suited for an NXT episode as there was enough story in the Kairi/Shayna match itself (Kairi's win in the 1st Mae Young Classic, Kairi beating Shayna at Takeover: Brooklyn III by countering the Kirifuda Clutch, etc) that you didn't need to have them interfere.- 1 reply

But at the same time, I would argue that Gino's arrogance in his persona would've largely compensated for his lesser wrestling skills. If they were able at one point to book Steve F'N McMichael as a Horseman, there's no way that Gino Hernandez couldn't have been a Horseman. Who knows what could've happened with the group if Gino had been there when Arn & Tully bolted for WWF in 1988. Easier to replace only 1 guy than 2. Flair, Gino & Barry Windham would've made for more than a formidable trio.

Have they officially signed the Super Smash Bros? I know it's been hinted on a recent Being The Elite episode but I'm not sure if it's official yet.

Always lol....Doing a lot of booking on the fly. But that's the beauty of this project

I see. Point taken and I'll try to be careful about the use of cage matches!

thehistoryofwwe.com is also very useful for the schedules.

Effective June 1st, Atlantic Coast trades Jay & Mark Youngblood to World Class for Kruscher Darsow & Boris Zhukov. Also, Abdullah the Butcher is on both my roster and AWA Worldwide's roster.

You got something really good going in the start. Bob Backlund as a heel right off the bat will get people talking. And all of a sudden, we might not wait too long to wonder what would happen if Magnum TA crossed paths with Bob Backlund.

I certainly didn't see Ron Bass & Black Bart beating the Von Erichs in the finals but man, the nuclear heat they must've gotten will only make them look better. Big statement win for the Fabulous Freebirds, although by nefarious ways but how many teams can brag about beating the Road Warriors in any kind of match?
-
Think about it this way; for Greg Valentine, it didn't matter who'd take the title from Jack Brisco when he did. As long as he could stick it to Eddie Graham for his believed perception that he was screwed out of this opportunity when he was announced in the match, that's all that matters to him

Hercules could have some serious momentum going for him in World Class, given he's already World Class TV Champion. And with a mastodon like One Man Gang as his partner, I wouldn't count that out of the equation!

Just wanted to try something different with Skip Young, but mostly, it was a transition that I wanted to do to explain Jack Brisco dropping the Florida title to Phil Hickerson 2 days later. As per usual, trying some stuff to see what sticks and what doesn't :)

Man, that was the ultimate rib by Jules Strongbow.

Atlantic Coast Championship Wrestling TV #8 Recap May 4th, 1984 -The show once again heavily features highlights from the weekly house shows in Tampa, Miami & Orlando, including highlights of the Dusty Rhodes/Paul Orndorff match in Tampa as well as Sweet Brown Sugar winning the Florida Heavyweight Championship in Miami the next night. Eddie Graham comes out and discusses all the happenings in AWA Atlantic Coast. Footage of an incident backstage on April 28th is shown as Jack Brisco is being brutally attacked by Sweet Brown Sugar, shortly after he won the Florida Heavyweight title. Jack eventually got stretchered out and sent to a local hospital. Eddie said he went to visit Jack at the hospital the next morning and Jack demanded to face Sweet Brown Sugar for the Florida Heavyweight title and he wants to send him back to his territory on a stretcher as well. So, Eddie booked a Florida Heavyweight Championship match tonight in Tampa as Sweet Brown Sugar will be defending the title against Jack Brisco in a Stretcher Match! Eddie is then interrupted by Kevin Sullivan, Sir Oliver Humperdink, Fallen Angel and Abdullah the Butcher. Sullivan says that it's time that Eddie stops showing favoritism to the likes of Ricky Steamboat and Paul Orndorff. Abby wants to be considered in the title picture as well. Eddie says he'll offer Abdullah the opportunity to prove his worth during this weekend's loop. Tonight, in Tampa, Abdullah will wrestle Jerry Brisco. Then, in Miami, he'll take on Angelo Mosca inside of a Steel Cage. And the ultimate test, Eddie wants to see if Abby can wrestle one of his own. So, in Orlando, on Monday, Abdullah must face.....PURPLE HAZE! Sullivan & Humperdink are irate as Eddie Graham tells them he'll truly find out if Abby can be worthy of being in the title picture after this weekend as how he fares will be very telling. Then, Graham tackles the sticky situation involving Greg Valentine and his new mercenary, AWA Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Champion The Cuban Assassin. Eddie wishes it wasn't that way but it is what it is. As much as he hates seeing his main title in the hands of someone outside the territory, he must deal with it. And so far, the Assassin has been a fighting champion as he's ll be defending the title on Sunday night against Bill Ash. Greg Valentine shows up to taunt Eddie Graham. Valentine claims that Assassin has already promised him a title shot and no matter what happens, the title will still end up in his control, not Eddie's. Graham tells Valentine that he still makes the calls around here and no one is getting a title match until he says so. If Valentine wants that title match, he's gonna have to put his pride aside. Eddie puts together a "Top Contenders Showcase" 6-Men Tag in which Valentine will have to team....with Ricky Steamboat and Paul Orndorff! Just like for Abby, Valentine's response to this situation will dictate if Eddie can move past his feelings towards Greg Valentine and grant him his title match. And the match starts....now! Top Contenders Showcase: Ricky Steamboat, Greg Valentine & Paul Orndorff beat Anson Honeycutt, Kingston Mounce & Placid Abrahams. Valentine definitely wasn't on the same page than his partners and refused to tag them in towards the match, resulting in Steamboat & Orndorff leaving Valentine alone against the 3 enhancement talents! Valentine still was able to submit Honeycutt to the Figure Four.

Very much looking forward to Double A vs Brad Armstrong on May 12th. Brad's gonna become a hot commodity in the AWA in this game.

WWE TV 04/29 - 05/05 Bolsonaro's strategy is worse than Jon Snow's

Main Event can achieve the same thing. I agree that midcarders should have one show where they can shine and eventually climb the ladder and get a bigger push. But splitting the rosters just for the sake of creating competition (because, you know, Vince has made a monopoly of the business) when you can't properly execute that is useless. -

No, it's still the 2nd time. But yeah, it's definitely as stupid as the first time. -

At this stage, why bother with the brand split? It's clearly not working IMO. You're decimating divisions to replenish a certain show. One set of tag team titles would be enough. One women's title would be enough, especially with the recent introduction of Women's tag titles. The suggestion earlier this week of rotating talents through story arcs should've been the way to go since day 1. Hell, I'll go one further: either some talents work TVs one week or house shows. By doing that, I think that 1) you're giving them time to rest as well by diminishing their workload and 2) some of those main event guys can become special attractions the way Hogan did in the 80s when he rarely worked a TV match other than SNME. Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio should be special attractions at this stage of their career. -

Definitely agree with all of this. The idea of rotating talents is something that should've been done IMO rather than the brand extension. You can only do so much in terms of fresh feuds and matchups when you cut your roster in half so in the end, I believe that allowing talents to rotate between TV and house shows (and time off if necessary) would be the best way to maximize all of your roster. And besides, if you wanna create new stars, you need them to have exposure. They're not gonna get that at catering. If you need to give a special attraction to some of the veterans (like Randy Orton or Rey Mysterio for instance), do it. We need to feel like it's special again to see some of those guys work TVs and such. -
Been a busy night for Rip Rogers but not a fructful one in Dothan. And the Nature Boy was saved by Humongous in the cage against Bruiser Brody. That's quite the asset for the champ to have in his corner!

Could it be because Vince has become too dependable on TV writers rather than wrestling people ? I mean, Vince could convey a certain idea and it could be interpreted differently, depending on if it's addressed to a TV writer or a wrestling-oriented guy.
