  1. Already calling Tully winning the TV title and the Thrillseekers the tag titles!
  2. Interesting reaction from the Koloffs over Vlad being stripped of the TV title. They're gonna be up to no good again in no time.
  3. The thing is that Sami Zayn - given the right gimmick - can be an effective heel. I've seen it with my very own eyes back in his early days on the Quebec indy circuit. He had a gangsta character called Big Larry (which was more of a comedy character) but it worked. The Sami Zayn character itself can't really work as a heel unless there's something drastic happening. But to say that Sami couldn't pull off a heel gimmick is absolutely false.
  4. Lots of momentum for Classy Freddie Blassie's men right now. A force to be reckoned with in World Class!
  5. I think my tastes have changed when I discovered other styles of wrestling. I'll always be a WWE fan because that's the first promotion I ever watched, along with Jim Crockett Promotions but I've discovered puroresu several years ago and I try to expand my horizons as much as I can. I think that it's important to be introduced as many styles as we can in order to truly form a better appreciation & knowledge of the product. But first and foremost, I still can appreciate watching wrestling for what it is without overanalyzing too much.
  6. Black Bart can expect an answer from Jacques Rougeau next week on NWA Lutte Internationale TV!
  7. I can't help but think that Kabuki could be a tremendous threat to any of your champions in the AWA. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he'd go after Lex Luger in the short-term!
  8. Really loved the ending of the AWA Southern Tag title match. Lots of possibilities you can go with that going forward!
  9. October 6th, 1985 Northlands Coliseum, Edmonton, AB -Boris Zhukov beat Gino Brito in 9:11 -Chavo Guerrero beat Raymond Rougeau in 4:56 -Abdullah the Butcher (w/Eddy "The Brain" Creatchman) beat Jos LeDuc in a bloody brawl at 14:56 -NWA World Tag Team Champion Lord Humongous (w/Eddy "The Brain" Creatchman) beat Stan "The Lariat" Hansen in 12:21 after interference from Creatchman. Postmatch, Hansen gave The Brain a solid Lariat! -Leilani Kai beat Judy Martin in 10:18 -Bruiser Brody beat "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal in 15:01 -Rick Martel & Hollywood John Tatum beat The Guerreros (Hector & Mando) in 45:47 10-Men Tag Team Match: The Pringle Dynasty (Big John Studd, WCCW World Tag Team Champions The Mercenaries, The Grappler & "Maniac" Mark Lewin, w/Percy Pringle) beat The Rougeau Brothers, Hillbilly Jim, Iceman King Parsons & Rocky Johnson when Big John Studd pinned NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Champion Jacques Rougeau after a distraction from Pringle! A second man in World Class has now earned a legitimate shot at Jacques Rougeau for his title!
  10. October 5th, 1985 Stampede Corral, Calgary, AB -Boris Zhukov beat Abdullah the Butcher by DQ in 16:04 -Alexis Smirnoff & Steve Strong beat The Creatchman Family (The Great Samu & Prince Alofa Fatu, w/Pretty Boy Floyd Creatchman) in 13:33 -Baron Von Raschke beat Shawn Michaels in 14:20 Guest Referee - Stu Hart: Masked Confusion beat The Guerreros in 41:59 -NWA World Tag Team Champion Botswana Beast (w/Eddy "The Brain" Creatchman) beat Armand Rougeau in 14:50 Special Attraction: Bruiser Brody & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen beat The Rougeau Brothers in 13:55 Guest Referee - Stu Hart: Bruce Hart beat Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland (w/Frenchy Martin). Frenchy tried to get involved but Stu Hart knocked him out cold on the apron!
  11. NWA Lutte Internationale TV Taped at CHLT-TV Studios, Sherbrooke, QC Broadcasted October 5th, 1985 -The broadcast team opens up by hyping the current loop happening in Toronto, Calgary & Edmonton this week and they discuss the events of last night in which Classy Freddie Blassie's team from World Class defeated the team of Gino Brito, Rick Martel & Kevin Von Erich because of Bruno Sammartino's involvement outside in the end. The broadcast team questioned Bruno's impartiality going forward, especially if World Class is working further down the line with Lutte. As a result, Bruno has been asked to not attend the end of the loop and Stu Hart will also be the special guest referee in tonight's match in Calgary between Masked Confusion and The Guerreros. Bruno will meet with the NWA Board of Directors early next week. -In today's first match, Gilles "The Fish" Poisson squares off against "Ace" Bob Orton, with Sherri Martel. A somewhat evenly fought battle at first with Poisson carrying his momentum over his recent wins in live events. However, with a little help from Sherri, Ace is able to turn the tide and maintain the advantage. Orton takes the victory with a piledriver in about 7 minutes. -After the match, Sherri Martel & "Ace" Bob Orton join the broadcast team for an interview. Sherri says she finally can address the obvious. And no, she's not talking about being the NWA World Women's Champion before the end of 1985. She talks about the fact that "Ace" Bob Orton is exactly what a Sensational should be like. She points out at the old worn now-sleeveless Sensational jacket that used to belong to Terry Taylor and Orton is worthier to wear it than Taylor would've ever been. Bob Orton takes his turn and says that he has the mission to bring back gold to the Sensationals and that's what he's intending to do. Right now, there's a main event coming up with a Four Corners match that will possibly put the winner in line for the Canadian International TV title. His fellow Sensational Billy Robinson is in it and he hopes he wins because a win for one Sensational is a win for all Sensationals. And with the addition of "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers, the Sensationals are now stronger than ever. They're already looking forward towards 1986 and this will be their year in Lutte Internationale. -After a commercial break, Guy Hauray & Édouard Carpentier are meeting with Raymond Rougeau, who has been struggling recently to secure some victories. Raymond says that he's aware of the situation and he's working hard to turn the tide and going back to his winning ways. Raymond is asked if there is any jealousy of recent singles success for his brothers; Jacques is the current NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Champion and Armand was the inaugural Quebec Heavyweight Champion. Raymond says no, that he's happy for them and he's supportive. That brings out Alexis Smirnoff, who calls out Raymond for being a liar. Smirnoff says that this is typical of French Canadians, who can't accept that their neighbors are having success and instead of supporting them, they stab them in the back. Raymond calls out Smirnoff, bringing back his previous identity as "Justice" Dubois. Smirnoff quickly changes the subject and says that there's no chance in hell that Raymond could beat him in 10 minutes right now. Raymond is willing to take him up on his offer. Raymond says he'll quit wrestling if Smirnoff beats him next week on TV. And Smirnoff one-ups him by telling him that if he loses to Raymond, he'll revert back to his "Justice" Dubois character and will spit on the Soviet Flag! Both men shake hands and we have one helluva main event for next week that could have serious implications in the future! -Main event time as Billy Robinson, NWA World Tag Team Champion Botswana Beast, Steve Strong & Gino Brito collide in a 4 Corners Match. This one will be one fall to a finish, so no elimination. The easy thing to do early is to gang up on the big Botswana Beast and that's what is being done. But Eddy "The Brain" Creatchman has more than one trick up his sleeve and a verbal joust with Sherri Martel on the outside distract Billy Robinson long enough for the Beast to destroy everyone in the ring. As for the rest of the match itself, rookie Steve Strong is being pretty impressive, showing some feat of strengths against Gino Brito & Billy Robinson namely. Eventually, all hell breaks loose as Bob Orton shows up at ringside when Eddy tries to rough up Sherri on the outside and Orton shoves The Brain. As Billy Robinson & Steve Strong get involved as well, this allows Gino Brito to roll up Botswana Beast to score the victory! Looks like we have a stables turf war in Lutte! And Gino Brito might just've secured himself another title shot for Super Strong Machine's TV title! The show ends with Eddy Creatchman yelling at Sherri as Robinson & Orton escort Sherri out of the arena! À LA SEMAINE PROCHAINE SI DIEU LE VEUT!
  12. Since gordi is now out of the game, I removed his dates he had selected for some freelancers, which means that their dates are back to being empty for the month of November.
  13. Good idea to pair Vlad with Ivan Koloff. Will give him instant credibility.
  14. October 4th, 1985 CNE Coliseum, Toronto, ON Gauntlet Match: NWA World Tag Team Champion Lord Humongous beat Matt Borne, "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers, Armand Rougeau, Hector Guerrero & Mando Guerrero in 38:07 Order of Elimination: -Armand Rougeau -Bobby Jaggers -Hector Guerrero -Matt Borne -Mando Guerrero -Chavo Guerrero beat NWA World Tag Team Champion Botswana Beast (w/Eddy "The Brain" Creatchman) in 13:15 -Chris Benoit upsets Shawn Michaels in 12:38 -Boris Zhukov beat Raymond Rougeau in 12:50 NWA Canadian International Heavyweight Championship: Jacques Rougeau beat Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland (w/Frenchy Martin) in 9:46 Special Attraction: Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody beat Masked Confusion in 19:07 6-Men Tag Team Match: WCCW World Heavyweight Champion "Handsome" Harley Race, Adrian Adonis & David Sammartino (w/Classy Freddie Blassie) beat Gino Brito, Rick Martel & Kevin Von Erich in 44:39 when Harley Race pinned Gino Brito after a piledriver. Bruno Sammartino came out at the end of the match as a brawl ensued between Martel/Von Erich and Adonis/David. Bruno placed himself between Martel and his son David, prompting a confrontation between Bruno and Martel, leading up to the finishing sequence.
  15. I'm very much looking forward to that Triple Threat Tag Match!
  16. Just take your time, completely understandable.
  17. I just think that the Fabulous Ones with Jimmy Hart is a fantastic pairing. Couldn't have thought of a better manager for them in WWF.
  18. Curious to see what that means for the WCCW 6-Men Tag Titles though. I'm presuming that either Kevin was scheduled to be in it - but wasn't there because of his booking with me in Jackson, MS - and Mr. Olympia was only the substitute so Kevin will be recognized as the champ or Olympia will officially be champ alongside Kerry & Mike. Either way, this makes for a fun narrative going forward!
  19. Lutte is still open to offers for all 3 Guerreros, listening to all of them.
  20. Holy crap. NEVER expected Nikita Koloff to show up. HUGE acquisition for the UWF!
  21. I didn't work as a wrestler per se. I was working behind the scene for a small promotion in my area and we were doing a sort of invasion with another promotion of our size and I was part of a segment in which we attacked wrestlers working from that promotion - including one who was working for us. It's one thing to be knowledgeable about the business and watching it on TV but your vision changes once you've been actually part of what's going on behind the scenes. Yes, I'm still able to enjoy a match as a wrestling fan but it's very easy to overanalytical and pick apart every segment of a match and see where something didn't go as planned and stuff. Also, while I was doing this, I was regularly sitting in the crowd to study crowd reactions and stuff and it's so much easier to feel the vibe of a crowd while you're actually feeling it than just being in the back watching through a monitor. It made it easier for me - and the rest of the staff - to adjust on the fly to get the crowd going when we needed to.
  22. Wow. Massive reveal. Supremely well done!
  23. Oh man...just the last line with Bobby Heenan screaming at Andre to take the money is brilliant. And it might be a typo but the jobbers names are missing in the All-American Wrestling results.
