Maybe the fact that Hangman brought it up on national TV gave Punk the idea that side could be spreading it.

"But it turned out to be the last time street guys like us were ever given anything that fuckin valuable again". I'm getting end of Casino vibes.

That main event was phenomenal!

Whoa! Cornette took one of my favorite early 90s AJPW Korakuen matches, Kobashi/Ace vs Deaton/Black and made an epic music video out of it, Heyman couldn't have done it much better.

Phenomenal show. DWB/Nelson, Lynn/Kyle, and Horner/Rogers put this at the level of 1992 AJPW TV in terms of work. Historic moment with DWB debut!

I dunno, considering the response to Sasha, HBK might be viewed as a rebel hero nowadays for sticking it to Vince all the time. -

Something has really gone wrong here. -

I'm digging into 1989 NWA - is the 4/15/89 first show at Center Stage the start of that year's famous booking team? The show all of a sudden has a whole new energy and there seems to be a lot more work being out into making each segment interesting, honestly gives me Cornette vibes from watching a lot of Smoky lately. -

This is a big question but forgive me. I have this weird thing with WCW where I loved it as a kid but I have never done a rewatch because there's so much i have never seen. So I ended up on an April 89 Saturday Night - it's tremendous. There's chaos at the announce area with JR and Hayes (one of my all time favorite duos in mid south) like Memphis. The crowd is red hot and going nuts for Randy Rose battling for revenge against Jack Victory. Amazing Great Mura squash. So, my question, how long does it stay this good? When it gets bad does it get really bad? Edit: OK I'm going through this emotional thing where I'm remembering how I've never loved a pro wrestling company as much as I loved 1989 NWA when I was 4 and I can say it's not because I was in prime viewing age. Wow, time for an entire year rewatch, just watched the Gilbert-Windham match from the first TV of the year, its like part of me forgot how good this stuff can be. -

Shoot, from a "getting Twitter likes" perspective, I picked the absolute wrong time to finally reach the point in my life where I realize Smoky Mountain is the greatest stuff ever and the peak of all that is good and just about pro wrestling. -
I don't have words for Bryan anymore. I hope he's inspiring young future wrestlers right now.

TK woke up and chose 1997 US vs Canada, this is some of my favorite stuff I've seen from AEW. I'm a mark for great talent getting cheered in their home town as heels. That 1995 Charlotte guy who tore up the Hogan shirt and threw up the 4 fingers is a hero. I loved heel Danielson being a Babyface environmental champion in Seattle, that was a real clever one to pull off.
-
I'm catching up on this show and I'm watching an Atlanta crowd chant "Tony" for Schiavone and that's enough to get me emotional, and here's Danielson doing his epic 2006 ROH act except with 15 years of seasoning, and I'm just still amazed this exists. Bryan right now is in 91 Jumbo territory which if you know me is the highest possible tier and not one I knew would be entered again.

My god look at those punches Tommy is throwing at the Nightmares.

We're getting an 18-month goodbye to the Rock culminating in Hollywood. Perfect for one of the all time greats.

McAfee was ready to walk out of his first Mania (pre-show) with the company over the fact that they wouldn't let him wear shorts and Vince had to intervene and OK it. He walked away from an easy 8 figures in NFL earnings to pursue his dream in sports media. He does what he wants, they know what the deal is.
-
McAfee follows very few rules. its fantastic. He also said they hated each other, which is a no no. He's also said 'wrestling' tonight.
-
Big fight atmosphere from the start, both wrestlers having a sense of really trying to hurt each other at all times, Becky-Charlotte and Punk-Eddie were two big wins for my tastes in wrestling.

I've honestly become pretty disconnected with the in-ring portion of pro wrestling over the past 10 years with the proliferation of what was coined here years ago - "The Self Conscious Epic". I'm hitting that grumpy old man phase where it becomes abundantly clear why lucha indies are the best wrestling. But that all changes whenever Danielson is in the ring. When I watch him nowadays, I feel like I'm watching like 90s Negro Casas level transcendent greatness. He has truly mastered every possible facet of the art form. And with some of his main idols being lucha guys like Blue Panther, we could get another 20 years of this fun. Its just such a pleasure to see him work anyone in any kind of match. -
I'm not sure AEW's formula needs to be 4 hour Takeovers. Takeovers were great when they were like 2hr 20min.
-
Every thing Danielson does is something I wish everyone else did more nowadays.

Getting old is just funny to me. An 18 year old has grown up watching Heyman often be the manager at ringside for major football stadium Mania main events. And I have to somehow come along and try to say "Yes its a nice moment for him to be one of the biggest stars of this billion dollar new network TV era, but actually the most important work of his career was done off screen when he was running a show every 3 weeks at an old warehouse under an overpass that truthfully seated probably 900 most nights with a TV show that maybe aired at 2am in your market if you were lucky ." -

Its crazy to me that anybody under 25 must think of Paul Heyman as being the WWE's 2010s version of 80s Bobby Heenan. And now it looks like the guy is going to have a seven month Mania main event program built around him. -
I cant believe Bryan and Dustin are having this match. TK is a madman. What dream isn't possible at this point.
