Pour Some Sugar On Me > entirety of grunge.

Late November had Austin saying: “People have been speculating. Hey Steve, what are you doing? What are you training for? Are you getting ready for an event? I just simply looked in the mirror and realized I look like sh**, so I call my dad coach up and my macros are currently give or take, roughly around 26 50 calories, 330 grams of protein, 100 grams of carbs will spike up 420 on the load up. I still drink beers on Friday nights. That’s pretty much it. That’s the bottom line and I’m out.”

Johnny Powers "was a quick study, learned the business quick. He was actually out on the road within two years". Bought a tear to this old-timer's eye.

@The Thread KillerAwesome post. Thank-you.

Chris Jericho donates $5000 to a charity = good. Chris Jericho realises his donation is under the name "Chrus Jericho." No big deal. They still got the money, Chris gets to feel all good inside. Wrong. Chris Jericho thinks "people might not realise that I, Chris Jericho, so valiantly and nobly donated money, because 'Chrus', so I'll donate again and make sure I got my own name right - that way there will be no doubt that indeed it was I, Chris Jericho, who donated money." = people wonder why I'm cynical? Chris Jericho gets called out and applauded, while the bulk of the people giving money go unmentioned. No, 99% of the time the underlying motives are bullshit.

Faaaaaaark that suplex onto the underside of the table must've sucked. My money's on Ospreay.

I swear Zack Sabre Jr was conceived, born and weaned in a wrestling ring. It's all so natural to him. TMDK started in Perth (I believe) as the repugnantly-named Torture Murder Death Kill, and due to backlash went with The Mighty Don't Kneel. Kept the initials, though. Fuck 'em.

With a menorah on her head! NJPW leaning into Hanukkah tonight!

Where there's a will there's a way...my first look at Tam Nakano and her...Star of David? Match was a bit short, for mine, but I always love a Steiner Scre- HERE SHE COMES!

All six of my perfectly legal avenues for watching this show have been blocked. NJPW not normally this diligent.

A cause close to his heart, I'm sure. *checks notes* $2500 donated in the last two years to that charity in toto. Charities-du-jour shit me, yes. All of a sudden they've got $4 million and a) that causes problems of its own b) they don't necessarily need $4 million c) WHERE THE FUCK WAS THAT MONEY YESTERDAY? d) it furthers massive inequalities in the distribution of the charity pie. A Chris Jericho makes sure everyone knows he gave (if only people could donate anonymously, amirite?) and lowers his taxable income. Altruism! (Aside: Live Aid, the most famous of the celebrities have hearts of gold hogwash, raised $127 million for Efernopians. I'm still seeing ads for starving children, 37 years later. Bob Geldof gave $127 million to the same corrupt government agencies and officials that caused the famine...But it's always "Oooooh, what a good man Bob Geldof is" when he demonstrably did jack shit.) So yeah, I hate cunts who give because a cause is "in" today. You should already be giving, not waiting for social media to tell you which charity bandwagon to jump on. No-one gave two fucks about Damar Hamlin's charity on Friday, (including you, @The Thread Killer), no-one will give two fucks next Friday, so we get a week of people suddenly pretending they give a shit. " a needlessly contrarian smarmy whinging pedantic hipster." Zero from five, Thread Killer, but thanks for playing. I'm just glad I don't naively swallow attempts by the rich to reduce their taxable income and then ask for more, please.

It's always a shame when that disadvantaged socio-economic group slips through the cracks in the welfare system. I'm glad someone's looking out for people getting by on only $2.5 million a year.

In any other artistic or creative field, it's plagiarism or theft. Wrasslin? "Tribute Spots". And I saw enough "tribute spots" (and matches) in 2022 to last me a lifetime. Really feels like a proliferation of them recently.

The future of marketing, indeed.

Is Otis on the Blow-Away Diet? Dude's going full Yokozuna. You never go full Yoko'.

Yours Sincerely, Tony Nese's Mum.

They're sending back a meal from a three-star Michelin chef before it's even reached the table, when the chef should've earned their faith by now. It's the letters to Santa griping they didn't get what they wanted. It's the lack of acceptance. Not just of this match, but of Bryan's AEW and career wishes and choices. Tony Nese isn't responsible for a person's expectations, nor the shattering of dreams. A person's expectations and dreams, that's on themselves. DB didn't share people's dreams - what's he meant to do? Change his dreams to match ours? Or do we accept and embrace Bryan's vision, given he's earned our trust? Seems we want Bryan to change his desires to match ours... That's the bit that's difficult to believe. Everyone knows D-Bry is going to do things his way, have known for some time, and each time the song from the choir remains the same.

I'll let y'all know how it goes. Might even treat youse to a Dav'oh review

"You get what you're given. If you're hungry, you'll eat" - mothers since Eve. "Pulling faces won't make it taste better" - Mother Dav'oh. We're lucky to have Bryan at all. People want him to be a Triple Whopper Royale Super Deluxe, he just wants to be oatmeal. "How do you know you don't like it if you haven't tasted it yet?" - mothers since Eve, again.
-
I dunno. We'd all pay money to see Bryan Danielson wrestle...a bucket, if he was in our neighbourhood. But not Tony Nese, apparently.
-
I don't know why, tacitly or otherwise, people are shitting on Tony Nese. There's nothing he can't do well, except please PWO. There's no way the match will be a disappointment, unless you go in wanting it to be one. Self-fulfilling prophecies 'n all that.
-
Chicken and egg: does Danielson want to give Seattle a certain type of match, and feels Nese is best suited to partner him? Or does Bryan want to give Seattle Tony Nese, and he'll work out a match from there? (Regardless of Bryan having wanted to work with Nese for a while, as that doesn't invalidate either scenario?)
-
But that assumption would have been quashed a couple of months ago when Ren Narita got tied to Zach, which is what I'm not getting. We hadn't heard any official whispers about DB at WK (had we?) just the rhubarb of social media.
-
Why would Danielson be at WK 17 anyway? He doesn't have a program with anyone, and I thought the mantra around here (one of them) was "good matches for the sake of good matches in a vacuum suck", or sentiments to that effect. All parties have had plenty of time to come up with something. At least one of the parties was uninterested. I take it the "he missed WK for a Tony Nese match" was tongue-in-cheek? I think he missed the show for reasons unknown, and he's doing this instead of, seeing as how he has no other bookings that day.
