It was too much tv even with a crowd. Empty arena 3 hours with a mismanaged pandemic lurking in the background feels borderline exploitative I am surprised they haven't just started doing career retrospectives full of old matches instead. The audience is old, tv crew is threadbare. It seems pointless at this point - Florida is going to kill them all if they're not careful The Ric Flair classic. Best of Austin/Rock etcetera Oh well fuck em

I always thought peak Flair presentation was leading upto the Rumble and ultimately if that had been the approach in JCP/NWA/WCW I think it would have been a lot more successful as a draw. Despite his strengths as a promo - arguably the best ever - tying him to heenan and hennig gave it a sports-like basis that gave it the extra edge. Like, I love Flair but think he was so much better with Ole or Heenan beside him. He is still the best ever tho, these are minor points.

Im surprised he never took on an ill-advised MMA run really -
Has that tweet knocking about saying 30+ WWE positives been verified yet?

Shes deleted her account now, that's how crazy a take it was.

Ah you may be right then - the July section of the listing does seem really short. Sorry to get your hopes up! It would still be cool to eventually own these regardless

Decaying empire ran by a borderline senile old man trapped in his own mind surrounded by sycophants?

To be honest its a couple of years since i considered it- it was probably someone UK based shilling on facebook at the time, but this is the set http://wrestlingepicenter.com/cart/product_info.php?products_id=864 No idea on reliability of the site but im sure it was meant to be a pretty exhaustive 2nd half of the year. Got me thinking about this again now

Well, this thread took a revelatory turn. -
Is Raw still 3 hours? I still look at it intermittently or if these threads say there's a good match but haven't watched it live/in full since 2019 probably. There's no way a 3 hour program with no crowd is attracting anything other than the truly die hard. Seems funny that the way to invigorate shows is yet another ageing relic though. The problem might not even just be vince at this point, it could the succession of old bastard after old bastard running the show. (Hell i am an old boy now too but still...) Needs some fresh blood, ideas, execution.

First time I've watched this match in maybe 10 years. Amazing how much it stands up. I had forgotten how ruthless Jumbo's style seems at times- though he isn't, of course, his mannerisms give light to a bit of recklessness almost. I think my favourite spell is Jumbo's dominance early on, then the couple of mistakes that give Misawa the one up. Modern wrestling really is the shits when you look at it against this gear. -
Im surprised the cynicism of the WWE office isnt calling up and pushing all the charismatic black men they can find to take the stink off Linda's Trump connections. Or perhaps they fear their dwindling fanbase is more inclined to side with the police rather than blm/protestors. Probably need to subscribe to wo for a couple of months to find out what's going on i guess.

A similar documentary on flair would probably be the greatest thing they ever did but if they couldn't get arn involved then its kind of pointless. Strange really. Im surprised at just how good this undertaker one is.

Ultimately the booking and personalities are what makes and breaks a promotion, though. For all the talk about younger stars and a territory system (both great ideas that they would be fools not to implement), its the people running the promotion that are out of touch. The booking/writing/production are so poor half the time it doesn't matter who they put in front of the camera. Without real change they are doomed because the product is so shit.

I always thought it was a great match. That score is way too low. The two out of three falls match? -
Great show god bless Herb The industry would be in far better shape if mad bastards like that were still involved Maybe not financially but i would certainly enjoy it a lot more

Cain was a great fighter and bags of charisma if you let him talk. Another wasted opportunity, oh well
