  1. See that people? Good things happen when you listen to El Jefe. Solie gets it but it seems Lightfoot needs to be reminded. Hollywood may have made a mistake starting something with Bob...or is it Tim? What a card in Orlando! Well The Glamor Boys won their match but they certainly didn't look like winners after The Highwaymen got through with them. Gordon interviewing Luscious & co will never get old!
  2. Way to build intrigue in the opener. Who would actually want to be Richter's partner? Also we're getting the Moretti/Combs rubber match. The Nasty Girls capture the gold but may have pushed The Star Girls over the edge. The Giant Slayers get the win in the 8 woman tag but the big story is the implosion of the Monsters. Richter seems to have finally found a partner she can get along with. Good for her. Mitchell gets what might be her biggest singles win yet. Unfortunately it's overshadowed by Richter wrecking Moretti. McIntyre & Medusa lift the crowd's spirits with a win over the Glamor Girls. Richter regains the World Women's Championship in absolutely vicious fashion. How will anyone take it from her this time?
  3. When asked for a response, Jim Crockett Jr could only be quoted as saying... "Will someone remind that buffoon Watts that the Briscos are in Florida?"
  4. Tsuruta & Fujinami earn themselves 100k & a World Tag Team Title shot. Not bad for their first night on the job. Parsons gets a little shady to beat Kernodle. I'm going to keep my eye on him. Valiant saves the title for the Great Gagne. The Tornado Handicap match is the war we were all hoping for. Snuka pinning Ox was the best possible ending. Always bummed to see the Bruise Brothers lose but I gotta admit, Larry Z & Perez earned that one. Canek chops the down the redwood. Priceless reaction to their opponents was simply...well...PRICELESS!!! Rock n Roll win the best of 7 & even the Fabs can't argue who's the better team. Henning evens the score with Adidas. Is a tiebreaker on the horizon. Dream Machine was on dream street as Jones was stretchered out of St Paul. But what in the 9 hells is Parsons thinking? Kirby makes a memorable debut as he helps the Pitbull leave Blackwell laying. Mutual respect after a hard fought match, you love to see it. Bockwinkel certainly strengthened his claim on another title shot. And that's why we wait until AFTER the match to get hammered. Congratulations to the NEW champions. Idol gets sent packing with his own brass knuckles. A grueling match leads to a confusing ending. Colon can say he was screwed while Steamboat can rightfully say he kicked out. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. SuperClash is everything I expected...and more!
  5. St Clair vs Hector sounds like a real workhorse opener. I'm also curious to see what Cornette does without a team to manage. Sad to see Bigelow & Busick go but I'm glad they parted ways with their friends on good terms. Tiger rebounds in a big way with the submission win over Del Ray. Holy shit! Smothers gets booted from the Hollywood Knights! We go from shock to shock as The Sheepherders join the Playboy Club! God have mercy indeed.
  6. Silly Scorpio you can't trust The Grappler. Travis hits a high note against the "World's Strongest Man" I agree with the fans, "cowards" seems to be a good description of Starr Power & Martel. Adonis beats Bugsy in a clash of 2 of wrestling's most unique personalities. Cooley survives Leatherface. Bring on Freddy! Tommy just can't resist going low one last time on his way out the door. Nice bookend with Scorpio paying back Grappler. Slick's Stable retains against 3 top teams. You just know the Slickster is gonna have something to say about this. Budro holds onto the gold with a little help from Dutch & "Shoobaby" I appreciate the symmetry of having the two guys that started Wargames be the one to end it. Also I do like that you didn't hold the team leaders until the end. Considering the shortened timetable you had to put this together, Thanksgiving Thunder delivered big time.
  7. Pardue gives a spirited challenge but just isn't ready for her big title win...yet. Richter is beginning to learn why it's considered a good thing to be a team player. The new Medusa gets a new look & 2 new belts to go with it. Take your time guy. We're not going anywhere.
  8. I wonder if Watts is upset about Gordon mentioning CCW. Charlie Daniels playing the national anthem on a fiddle is the most southern way to start a Mega Event ever! "The Devil went down to Georgia" was one of my mother's favorite songs so she would have been so happy. Benoit evens the score with Wright. I think these two need something special for their next 1on1. Leave it to Embry to be proud of himself after having 3 guys bail him out. Poor B.A Garvin wins the Grudge match thanks to a pig slop throwing "mystery woman". The Andersons retain to the shock of... absolutely nobody! Watts gets his Christmas present early as Ladd is gone from the NWA! Black Bart was the mvp of the Posse at Starrcade. Carl Fergie being his most blatantly biased yet is somehow the least interesting story coming out of the Mid-South Tag Title match. DiBiase turns on Williams and the Million Dollar Man is born! Plus the unmasking of the Superstars. I gotta ask, were they already wearing the paint under the masks? Bad news is Gordy got screwed out of the United States Championship. Great news is we're getting The Miracle Violence Connection! I never thought I'd have the opportunity to write out a Wargames but I'm proud of the end result. The pictures you added took it to a whole other level. I stand corrected, THIS is Carl Fergie at his most blatantly biased. Baby Doll seems to get cold feet causing the Horsemen to improvise. I can only imagine the reaction Tully slapping Baby Doll got in the 1980s south. Starrcade 86 will be a night wrestling fans talk about for decades to come!
  9. Good job giving both brands a balanced roster. I'm pulling for Road Warriors to win the whole thing.
  10. MACW Live @ Asheville Civic Center in Asheville NC 11/23/1986 "The Electrifying" Ben Bassarab vs Savanah Jack ended in a 10 minute time limit draw. The Barbarian defeats Mr Wrestling 2 with a diving headbutt. El Santo Negro defeats "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley after avoiding the "Flying Willie" and performing a La Magistral cradle. "Dangerous" Dan Spivey defeats "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers with a powerbomb. The Red Tide (Soldat Ustinov & The Koloffs) defeat The Posse (Dick Slater & The Hangmen) when Nikita damn near decapitated Dirty Rhodes with the "Russian Sickle". After the bell Ivan buried Rhodes under the Soviet flag. "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel defeats "Lord" Jonathan Boyd w/JR Foley by dq when the referee caught Foley tripping Wahoo. Boyd attacks after the bell but is clotheslined over the top rope. Foley clubs Wahoo from behind but it has no effect! Wahoo blocks a right hand before drilling Foley with one of his own. He then sends Foley to the ropes but as he rears back for something Boyd grabs Foley's leg and pull him to safety leaving Wahoo standing tall. Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood)(c) defeat The Assassins (1&2) when Chris caught Assassin #2 with a sunsetflip from the second rope.
  11. A solid episode of Dark. What a week of Dynamite coming up. Every match is can't miss!
  12. OMG with another win but I'm wondering what Hart & Pringle were talking about. St Clair just plain out thinks Muta. I don't know what Victory was trying to prove but I'm not arguing with him after that performance. The Sheepherders make a violent return (how else would they return) at Black Gold's expense. Finley declaws the Tiger. Bigelow sends The Avenger packing but it seems he already had arrangements made. Gilbert wins a squeaker against Orton. Good to see Missy back but I wonder if Badd Company are even a little upset that she didn't return for their match. Los Guerreros win a barn burner against the Japanese Snowbirds. Simmons gets the biggest win of his career over Stan the Man. British Steel has done it!Dennis Condrey is gone & the future of the MXE is in serious doubt. And to cap it all off we have a NEW Pacific Heavyweight Champion, Barry Windham! Whoever the bearded man is he's clearly good luck. What a great 2 nights in San Diego!
  13. I'd like to see Thatcher make that quip about Wargames to Luger or Sullivan's face. Though RPG calling Thatcher his hero & Thatcher's response did crack me up. And to be fair, Thanksgiving Thunder is pretty stacked. Cooley is certainly ready for Leatherface! The "Adorable one" has arrived. I'm very glad I'm not Chicky Starr right now. Oh yeah Chicky has Brody on his team, maybe he's better off then I thought. Bit of a dirty trick from Taylor. I seem to recall the last time Taylor held a tv title it went to his head. Hope it's not happening again. The Bullet vs "Wildfire" in what may just be the final encounter. I can see that causing a sellout.
  14. Honestly I'm not surprised to see a Odd Couple victory but I AM surprised to see it come by submission. I believe there's a title shot on the horizon. Damn! TNT outstrikes Burke! Brian wins the battle of the Adamses thanks to Steamboat. Ok is Hyatt even returning Badd Company's calls? Also love the Detonation finisher. Hector is surprisingly gracious in defeat. B.Adams returns the favor by leading the cheering section for Steamboat as he avenges his loss from Phoenix. Sad to see Cameron go but what a match to leave on! Leave it to Owen to get the crowd smiling again. Congratulations to the NEW California champion. This may have been the last straw for Smothers & Victory. And we're 2 for 2 for title changes as Hall & McGee capture the Golden State Tag Titles thanks to a miscommunication between Gary & Neidhart. Bubba breaks the streak of belts changing hands in a hard hitting main event. The crowd is right though, Busick has nothing to be ashamed of. Bring on night 2!
  15. Samoa Joe in AEW! HELL YEAH!!!. I like how you're sticking with what you think is working in AEW while still changing enough to make it unique. Honestly it's probably what I'd do. Glad you're back. I really liked where you were taking SMW in Dawn of War.
  16. Ok guys this is embarrassing but I just realized a title unification match doesn't work for Starrcade since The Youngbloods are already booked for Wargames. So If we can all agree to forget that I promoted it on today's show I promise you'll like it's replacement for Starrcade (also you're definitely getting The Youngbloods vs The Commonwealth eventually)
  17. Lightfoot gives a nice recap of his feud with Rl Jefe. Now that the Florida fans know what he's capable, Estrada & his Cartel are sure to get even more heat! I can't believe The Fabulous Blondes managed to expose Solmeister as part of the Illuminati! A firey promo from Regal leads to a rematch on what's shaping up to be a stacked card for Orlando. Red & Spoiler get right to the point. Backlund seems to be trying to get a hang on his...issues. Emphasis on trying. Duggan gets one more shot at Hercules & the Florida Heavyweight Championship, but if he loses he's gone!
  18. MACW Live @ Norfolk Scope in Norfolk VA 11/20/1986 The Gladiators vs Fire & Flame ends in a 10 minute time limit draw. "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/JR Foley & Friday defeats "Crippler" Ray Stevens with "Air Africa" Dirty Rhodes defeats Tiger Conway Jr with the "Bionic Elbow" "Downtown" Denny Brown defeats Missing Link by dq when a frustrated Link assaulted Brown with a chair. Spartanburg Vice (Jerry Bryant & "Big" Lou Winston) vs Radiance (Gary Royal & Paul Roma) ends in a Double C.O Winner gets their team the advantage in Wargames. The Great Kabuki defeats "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel after a distraction from Missing Link lead to a "Asian mist"/Thrust kick combo. NWA United States Tag Team Championship The Commonwealth (George Barnes & Jonathan Boyd)(c) w/JR Foley defeat The Midnight Rockers after Foley slides a chair into the ring, then while the referee is throwing the chair to the floor slides one of the title belts to Boyd who blasts Jannetty with it. After the bell it's announced that The Commonwealth will be heading to Starrcade to meet The Renegade Warriors in a title unification match! Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship "Handsome" Harley Race defeats "Nature Boy" Ric Flair(c) w/JJ Dillon when Dillon attempted to hit Race with his shoe but Race ducked & the shoe hit Flair instead! A hard right hand to Dillon & piledriver to Flair later, Harley Race was champ. NEW CHAMPION!!!!!!
  19. Idol's had enough & declares the AWA isn't big enough for both him & Lawler! Of course the King accepts but is immediately laid out by Idol. This one is gonna be bloody. I like the touch of Kernodle thinking he's doing Iceman a favor...and Parkins seeming to consider Kernodle's point. Cash says the knee is fine but we'll know for sure at SuperClash. We get a brief glimpse of the chaos promised in the handicap tornado match. The Fabs are supremely confident heading into the tiebreaker. Henning is developing into a Perfect dickhead heel. I like the contrasting promos from Garvin & Bockwinkel. And then Colon finishes by scaring the hell outta everybody watching! Haystacks appears all but unstoppable! Priceless is just begging to be knocked on their asses. Gagne with a nice tune up before the big title defense against Punkski. Brown/Dream Machine vs Mulligan/Blackwell sounds like a money main event. Steamboat sends a clear me to close the show, you can't push The Dragon around! 14 Matches! I'll never figure out how you seem to find a spot for EVERYONE on these supercards.
  20. MACW TV 11/19/1986 On Commentary:Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone Ring Announcer:David Crockett Airing on WTBS Channel 17 at 8pm from the WTBS studio in Atlanta GA (We see footage from last weeks show in Charlotte focusing on Tully Blanchard defeating Randy Savage in a 2-out-of-3 falls match to earn the right to challenge Butch Reed for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade. We then see the opening montage set to "The Hit" by Richard Myhill before going to Caudle & Schiavone in the booth) BC:Wrestling fans welcome to another episode of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, professional wrestling's most exciting hour sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance. I'm Bob Caudle alongside Tony Schiavone and Tony we're just 6 days away from the NWA'S Thanksgiving extravaganza, Starrcade said what a phenomenal night of wrestling its shaping up to be. TS: It certainly is Bob. Fans as you saw in the opening footage Mid-Atlantic's own Tully Blanchard will challenge "Hacksaw" Butch Reed for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew will defend the NWA World Tag Team Titles in a 3 way elimination match against a team from both Continental Championship Wrestling & Mid-South Wrestling. We can report that CCW will be represented in this match by the team of Mr Olympia & the Junkyard Dog. Mid-South is still finalizing their team. We can also announce for the first time that Eric Embry will defend the NWA World Jr Heavyweight Championship against Continental's Brad Armstrong. And I'm sure everyone remembers the 2 monumental challenges issued last week on this broadcast, First NWA United States Champion Nikita Koloff threw out a open challenge for anyman in the NWA to come to the Omni to challenge for that championship & this is the big one folks, Kevin Sullivan & The Spectral Hand look to take out all their enemies at once and they plan to do it in Wargames! We'll have a detailed breakdown for the rules of Wargames later this broadcast. BC: Indeed wrestling fans Starrcade is shaping up to be a absolutely unforgettable night of wrestling but we've got a incredible night of action for you right here tonight! Let's send it to the ring for our opening match. The debuting Earthquake Ferris defeats Ulrick Hughes with a big splash. Commercial-Bob Caudle runs down the MACW House Shows for the coming week. (VTR- we see The Four Horsemen, including Dillon & Baby Doll, seated in the lounging area of a local country club. Flair with the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder speaks first. Says tomorrow night in Norfolk it's him & Harley Race for what he vows will be the LAST time. He'll always respect what Race has done for this business but it's time he was forced to get it through his thick skull that his time at the top is truly over, it's the Horsemen era now & for the foreseeable future. Says tomorrow night in Norfolk he's gonna "put that worn down old warhorse out to pasture once & for all". The Andersons are next & Ole is furious about having to defend against 2 teams at once. Says such "cheap gimmicks" are beneath the dignity of the titles & especially the dignity of the Horsemen. Arn fully agrees but makes clear they aren't actually worried. Says the reason Mid-South hasn't declared a team yet is because nobody in the territory wants to face them. He's particularly dismissive of CCW'S pairing of "Special Olympia & the Scrapyard mongrol" who've been a team for all of 10 minutes. Tully finishes for the group saying whatever divine intervention carried Reed to victory at Halloween Havoc won't be enough to save him this time. Says he's looking forward to ending Reed's 5 minutes of fame & putting the 10 pounds of gold around the waist of someone worthy of it. The group laughs while all holding up 4 fingers as the video fades to black) The Hangmen defeat Cruel Connection after a "Bionic Elbow"/running elbowdrop combo to Cruel Connection #2 Commercial for Halloween Havoc 86 coming to NWA Home Video. (Bob Caudle runs down the rules of Wargames. 2 rings will be surrounded by a cage. 2 men will face off for 5 minutes after which teams will take turns sending in a new man every 2 minutes. Once all 10 men are in the cage we enter the "match beyond" which can only be won by submission or surrender. Caudle says he can vividly remember the only other Wargames in MACW history which was won by the Four Horsemen & he's certain this will be equally as memorable) Kevin Sullivan defeats Mike "Action" Jackson with the "Devil Stomp". Commercial+Promo for Starrcade (VTR- Eric Embry is standing in front of a NWA banner with the Jr Heavyweight title over his shoulder. Says he's been defending this belt with honor since July but has yet to receive the respect due a champion. He's had to deal with jealous fans calling him names like "crybaby" & "cheater". He's barely promoted by any of the territories. All because none of the handpicked favorites can beat him. Well everyone had better get used to it because he's not losing this belt to ANYONE let alone some "no talent daddy's boy". Says when he sends "Baby Boy Brad" home crying maybe he'll FINALLY start getting the respect he deserves. VTR ends) Mr Wrestling 2 defeats Punisher with the Kneelift. Commercial-Bob Caudle runs down the card for tomorrow night in Norfolk VA The Gladiators vs Fire & Flame "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/JR Foley & Friday vs "Crippler" Ray Stevens Dirty Rhodes vs Tiger Conway Jr "Downtown" Denny Brown vs Missing Link Spartanburg Vice (Jerry Bryant & "Big" Lou Winston) vs Radiance (Gary Royal & Paul Roma) Winner gets their team the advantage in Wargames "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel vs The Great Kabuki NWA United States Tag Team Championship The Commonwealth (George Barnes & Jonathan Boyd)(c) w/JR Foley vs The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty & Shawn Michaels) Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship "Nature Boy" Ric Flair(c) w/JJ Dillon vs "Handsome" Harley Race Bell time 7pm. Tickets still available. (Before the main event begins Bob Caudle explains that to give the roster time to recuperate after Starrcade, there will be no episode of MACW TV next week. Events for the week following next Friday shall be advertised locally) The Assassins (1&2) defeat Harts Afire (Bruce & Keith Hart) after Assassin #1 loaded something into his mask before delivering a headbutt to Keith.
  21. MACW releases Mad Dog Vachon & signs Earthquake Ferris
  22. MACW Live @ Cumberland County Memorial Auditorium in Fayetteville NC 11/17/1986 Billy Two Eagles defeats Executioner with a backslbackside. "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/JR Foley & Friday defeats "Stray Cat" Brodie Chase with "Air Africa" El Santo Negro defeats The Shadow with a Missle Dropkick. "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers defeats "The Electrifying" Ben Bassarab after rolling through a Flying Bodypress & grabbing a handful of tights. NWA Television Championship Indian Strap Match Kevin Sullivan (c) defeats "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel after interference from The Great Kabuki. "Macho Man" Randy Savage & The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/Ms Elizabeth & "Precious" Paul Ellering defeat The Red Tide (Soldat Ustinov & The Koloffs) when Ivan hit Animal with the Soviet flag in front of the referee. Savage grabbed a chair and sent the Russians to the floor! Many fans reported that Nikita seemed to want to continue the fight regardless of the chair & had to be held back by his uncle & Ustinov!
  23. MACW Live @ Municipal Auditorium in Columbus GA 11/15/1986 Mick Foley defeats Mike "Action" Jackson with a schoolboy with a handful of tights. "British Magician" Steve Wright defeats Flame with the "Octopus Hold" "Dandy" Don Bass defeats Mr Wrestling 2 with a lariat after avoiding the kneelift. "Crippler" Ray Stevens defeats Missing Link by dq when Link delivered a headbutt to the referee for unknown reasons. The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian & The Warlord) defeat Spartanburg Vice (Jerry Bryant & "Big" Lou Winston) when Barbarian entered the ring illegally & hit Bryant with a big boot behind the referee's back allowing Warlord to pin Winston. Texas Tornado match Brutha's in Arms (Shaska Whatley & Tiger Conway Jr) defeat The Hangmen (Bobby Jagers & Dirty Rhodes) when Whatley struck Jagers with brass knuckles when the ref wasn't looking.
  24. Leather's night starts out rough with a loss to Pardue but she finishes strong by screwing Richter during her match. Poor Houston. Good strategy employed in the battle royal by McIntyre & Medusa. If I had any doubts about Medusa turning over a new leaf then her being a good sport at the end removed it.
  25. A successful debut for Scorpio. Furnas is racking up the wins. Can't say I'm surprised a Leatherface match went surprised. The Nightmares might wanna consider a third member to take on the Desperados. Street survives Goliath when the monster takes himself out. Yet another well booked CCW battle royal. JYD & Olympia will make interesting challengers for The Andersons. The Superstar wins with a assist from the Lumberjacks. Brody wins the Southeastern title! Gonna be hell taking it from him. Grappler 2 screws the Bullet out of the Continental Championship! Except it's Tommy Rich under the mask! Nice foreshadowing in the battle royal.
