  1. Joe Pedicino catches a understandably emotional Magnum T.A in the midst of a major celebration. Watts has a intriguing idea hiring former wrestlers as referees. Not sure i would've started with Fergie though. But Jim's right his first time went well enough. Watch this space. Oh I wish we could've heard the Shiek's reaction to his money being on the line in a ladder match! Jim's also right about Hayes having a way with words. Glad to hear Johnson's getting another shot. But Ladd & Allen still make some decent points. Gibson capitalizes on Starr pulling double duty to earn himself a Jr Heavyweight Championship match.
  2. Originally announced in August 86 edition of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. *Breaking News! Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling relaunches. Rejoins National Wrestling Alliance* After legal & personal issues caused MACW to halt its entire output in February, PWI can confirm the various issues have been settled and MACW will resume prompting shows. Perhaps the most unexpected development is the news that an agreement has been reached to have MACW reenter the National Wrestling Alliance. This deal includes MACW airing its weekly television program on WTBS Channel 17 starting Friday September 10th at 8pm. The first episode will air from the Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina. MACW officials have agreed to recognize NWA World champions. The Mid-Atlantic television championship will be replaced with the NWA World Television Championship. We have also confirmed their first live event will take place the next day at the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk Virginia. During the hiatus several talents were granted releases but replacement talent have been signed. Namely was the television champion Tom Prichard. Plans to crown a new champion have been drafted. The biggest behind the scenes change is the arrival of the lead booker from the now defunct Western States Wrestling being brought in to head the creative team. He had also managed to bring in some WSW talent to fill some of the vacancies. MACW's second show Worldwide has been discontinued. Tickets are already on sale for the first few shows in the relaunched MACW. More information will be shared when available.
  3. MACW releases Adrian Adonis & resigns Kerry Brown.
  4. Mid-Atlantic releases Damian 666.
  5. Mid-Atlantic sends Junkyard Dog & Tom Prichard to CCW in exchange for Ivan & Nikita Koloff.
  6. Mid-Atlantic releases The Shiek, Nelson Royal, Czar, Kazaharu & Sonny King Mid-Atlantic signs George Barnes & JR Foley
  7. A four way elimination tag is a guaranteed hot opening. The Snowbirds definitely put themselves in the title picture with this performance. Leave it to Rotunda to enter a no dq match with a strategy to outwrestle his opponent...and make it work. Windham shows Miller how "mean" a son of Blackjack Mulligan can be. Smothers/Hart turns into a defacto Lumberjack match. A draw ensures a rematch down the road. Simmons puts up one hell of a fight but Hansen is on another level. Bigelow wows the crowd with a highlight reel worthy finish to his defense against Adams. Cornette takes the easy way out & Avenger takes it out on Burke? I think It's Time...we get to the bottom of this. Gilbert snaps & maybe takes Muta out for good. Rose actually retains cleanly? Color me surprised. Night 2 lived up to the example of Night 1...and maybe surpassed it.
  8. Honoring a trade made before the switch was agreed to WSW sends Chicky Starr to CCW in exchange for Bobby Jagers.
  9. (Simulcast on local affiliates throughout the Western States territory) Live from the Sports Arena in Amarillo Texas Western States Wrestling Presents: The Labor Day Spectacular! The show starts with Steve Stack welcoming the audience before introducing contest winner Teresa Mendoza to sing the national anthem. Golden Opportunity battle royal. Winner receives a title shot of his choosing. "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez wins by last eliminating "Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan Karate match. If Kim Duk wins he gets 5 minutes with Tojo Yamamoto. "Wild Tiger" Kim Duk defeats Super Strong Machine w/Tojo Yamamoto after Tojo accidentally hit SSM with the Japanese flag. Tojo tried to run to the back but was intercepted by Commissioner Dusek who said if Tojo didn't get in the ring by the time Bobby Pico counted to 10 he'd be fired! Tojo hesitates in the aisle but ultimately enters the ring right as Pico was about to reach 10. Pico immediately rings the bell & Duk pounces. What transpires next is quite possibly the worst 5 mins of Tojo's life. His head is bounced off of each turnbuckle pad, each ringpost, each side of the apron, the guardrail on each side, the announcer's booth & the steps. At the end of the time limit,Tojo is a bloody barely moving heap & Duk has become (if only for a few minutes) Amarillo's new favorite wrestler. Western States Television Championship "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley w/Slick defeats "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride when Whatley rolls through the Flying Bodypress & grabs the tights. Eric Embry is already in the ring with chants of "crybaby" raining down when "Bad to the Bone" comes over the pa signaling the arrival of...The NWA US Jr Heavyweight Champion, CCW's Scott Armstrong! NWA World Jr Heavyweight Championship Scott Armstrong defeats "The Flamboyant" Eric Embry by DQ when a desperate Embry delivered a low blow in clear view of referee Alex Perez. After the result was announced,Embry went to the floor, grabbed a chair then reentered the ring & rained down so many blows on Armstrong the chair was destroyed. As he walked to the back Embry could be heard asking the stunned audience "Who's the crybaby now?" Western States Tag Team Championship Boot Camp match. The Fort Bragg Brotherhood defeat The Moondogs w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan after Kernodle wrestled the Golden Spike away from Sullivan then hit him & Rex with it. The crowd went wild as TFBB were announced as the NEW Western States Tag Team Champions! NWA Brass Knuckles Championship "Dirty" Dutch Mantell defeats Killer Tim Brooks w/"General" Skandar Akbar with the Tennessee Chainsaw in a bloody slugfest. NWA World Tag Team Championship Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams defeat Karachi Vice w/"General" Skandar Akbar when Williams hit the Oklahoma Stampede on Gamma. Mixed reactions to the Champs throughout as some were happy to see Karachi Vice get theirs but others seemingly weren't over the situation with the titles earlier in the year. Speaking of which, The Funk Brothers came down to a huge pop & offered their congratulations. The exchange was tense but ultimately ended peacefully with the 2 teams shaking hands (though Terry & Williams looked ready to vomit & theirs consisting of 1 quick shake) Loser Leaves Town Texas Death Match Jimmy Jack Funk defeats Chicky Starr via a piledriver onto a pile of chairs. Even the 30 second rest period following the pin wasn't enough for Chicky to even try answering the 10 count. Western States Heavyweight Championship Jumbo Tsuruta defeats "The Unpredictable" Dick Slater by countering Slater's swinging neckbreaker into a Tiger Suplex. NWA World Heavyweight Championship Magnum T.A defeats One Man Gang w/"General" Skandar Akbar when OMG climbed the ropes for a splash but Magnum intercepted him & hit a TOPE ROPE BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX! After the bell Akbar tried to attack Magnum in frustration but Magnum hit another belly to belly on the villainous manager to have the Sports Arena rocking as the show goes off the air.
  10. Mighty Yankee & Freight Train brawling is a great start to any episode. U.S Steel stills going hard. Bart vs Austin seems a exciting contrast of styles & personalities. Precious reminds everyone Hayes isn't the only one who knows how to swing a purse. The Patriots prove to worn down to overcome the Masked Superstars (& the Shiek's briefcase) Allen gives his manager a shout-out by "pulling a Ladd" & walking away. I have a feeling the Shiek will be having a word with Leduc. Hmm...So did Hayes bring his own purse or did Precious "misplace" hers? I hope referee Kneely had his car ready because something tells me he's gonna wanna leave Baton Rouge ASAP!
  11. Canek & Cobra give the fans hope but in the end Haystacks is just too much. I love how Colon & Singh are both like "Ya know what, screw the match let's just kill each other" Rather surprised Singh is the one standing tall though. I was expecting Colon to finally go off the deep end. The new (& dare I say improved) Priceless get a defining win over The Blues Brothers. Do i sense a title shot on the horizon? Bockwinkel & Wahoo Rocky 2 this mother with Bock with a lucky landing earns a World Title shot. RnR win but don't look like it as The Fabs jump'em & damn near start a riot. Idol retains thanks to Charland & Brito. This is why you only have one rivalry going at a time Ronnie. Cabin Fever become the unified champions as Henning turns even more heel by abandoning Adias. Lawler & Dundee produce another classic that ends with the King bloody but triumphant. Steamboat withstands the combined onslaught of Hayes & Ox to retain the World Title. With a bit of help from Snuka (I wonder if he expects something in return?) Bring on Bockwinkel! The AWA knocks it out of the park on Labor Day!
  12. Final card for WSW's Labor Day Spectacular! "Golden Opportunity" battle royal winner gets a title shot of their choosing. Karate match "Wild Tiger" Kim Duk vs Super Strong Machine w/Tojo Yamamoto if Duk wins he gets 5 minutes with Tojo. Western States Television Championship "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley(c) w/Slick vs "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride Eric Embry's open challenge for the NWA World Jr Heavyweight Championship Western States Tag Team Championship Bootcamp match The Moondogs(c) w/"Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan vs The Fort Bragg Brotherhood To determine the NWA Brass Knuckles Champion Killer Tim Brooks w/"General" Skandar Akbar vs "Dirty" Dutch Mantell NWA World Tag Team Championship Ted DiBiase & " Dr Death" Steve Williams vs Karachi Vice w/"General" Skandar Akbar Loser Leaves Town Texas Death Match Jimmy Jack Funk vs Chicky Starr Western States Heavyweight Championship Jumbo Tsuruta(c) w/Tojo Yamamoto vs "The Unpredictable" Dick Slater NWA World Heavyweight Championship Magnum T.A vs One Man Gang w/"General" Skandar Akbar Airing on local affiliates in the Western States territory. Bell time 7pm. Tickets Sold out!
  13. Luscious loses the match then loses his shit! The reign of T&Z continues. The Outlaw holds onto the gold thanks to Duker. We've all heard of a mother's love but damn! I can't believe Bob is gone. Second rope bionic elbow would drop anyone. DiBiase & Williams are heading back to Amarillo. I'm sure the fans will be happy to see them again (inches closer to the exit) Nikita loses a "I Quit" match without actually quitting Uncle Ivan is going to have a fit! Congratulations to Magnum T.A for regaining the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Condolences for having to face One Man Gang. Beach Brawl will be talked about for years to come!
  14. Mid-South Wrestling is coming to you on Fox on it's affiliates Fox 8 out of New Orleans & WXXV out of Jackson. 9/4- Mid-South Wrestling- Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Shreveport Louisiana. (The Mid-South video slams on screen with quick clips of the top stars ending on a shot of North American Champion Mr Wrestling 2. We cut to Boyd Pierce & "Cowboy" Bill Watts at ringside) BP: Welcome everyone to Mid-South Wrestling coming as always from the Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Shreveport Louisiana. I'm Boyd Pierce and my partner is the man in charge of Mid-South "Cowboy" Bill Watts and Bill just over a week away from September's Superdome Extravaganza & what a main event that show will have. BW: That's right Boyd. Folks you'll recall last week we had a one night tournament right here in Shreveport to determine who would challenge for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in the Superdome. And it's my pleasure to introduce that man...the man who will face the NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair...Junkyard Dog! (The massive cheers nearly drown out "Another one bites the dust" as JYD makes his way to the set slapping hands with every fan he can reach) BP: Dog congratulations. I think what we all want to know is what is going through your mind as you head into what is unquestionably the biggest match of your career. JYD: (Takes a minute to soak in the cheers before answering) Boyd Pierce...there are no words man...In just 8 days I have a opportunity to wrestle for the most prestigious prize in the business...The goal of every man to lace up a pair of wrestling boots...The NWA World Heavyweight Championship & Ric Flair I'm talking straight to you...I don't take nothing away from ya. You beat the great Harley Race to win that title & earn the right to call yourself the greatest wrestler alive today...But let me tell ya something right now...On Sunday September 12th you're coming to the Dog's backyard...Nawlins Louisiana...You gone be surrounded by 20,000 of the Dog's closest friends. And with all those people behind me & with God almighty as my witness I make you this solemn vow...On Sunday September 12th i ain't leaving the Superdome without the NWA World Heavyweight Championship! (JYD leaves to a enormous pop) BP: Well there you have it folks a very determined Junkyard Dog. Let's send it to the ring for our opening contest. (We cut to Reisor Bowden center ring) RB: Our opening contest is set for one fall with a 15 minute time limit. In the red corner from Albuquerque New Mexico weighing 242 lbs Vinnie Romero...and in the blue corner from St Joseph Missouri weighing 265 lbs "Timekeeper" Mike George! Vinnie Romero vs "Timekeeper" Mike George After his introduction George takes the mic from Bowden and says to forget the 15 minute time limit,he'll end it in 5! Romero gets some shine here but this is mainly a showcase for George controls most of the bout before finishing it with a Diving Headbutt in 4 1/2 minutes. Commercial-Boyd Pierce runs down the Mid-South Louisiana tour schedule for the coming week. (We return to Boyd Pierce joined by the Midnight Express with Floyd Creatchman. Creatchman puts over his men saying no team in Mid-South can compare to Rose/Condry & that it's "inevitable" that Austin will defeat Tiger Mask to become the new NWA World Jr Heavyweight Champion. Watts interjects that the MXE don't even know who they're facing at the Superdome Extravaganza. Creatchman says it's irrelevant but Watts says he may change his tune when he hears their opponents...Dick Murdoch & Mike George! Creatchman points out those 2 have never even teamed together. Watts acknowledges that but says since the MXE have cheated every time Murdoch tried to challenge them with JYD he deserved one more chance & since JYD is busy on the 12th he allowed Murdoch to pick his partner & Murdoch felt since Austin stole The Shadow's mask & cost George in the first round he deserved a fair shot. Creatchman & co begin to argue but Watts says if they really don't want this match on the 12th they can vacate the titles right now! Creatchman begins to lead his men away in a huff but Watts stops him to say he forgot the most important part.. during both matches Creatchman would be ringside...handcuffed to Watts!) RB: This match is set for one fall with a 15 minute time limit. In the red corner from Central Florida weighing 279 lbs Bugsy Mcgraw...and in the blue corner from Treorchy Wales weighing 17 stone Scott McGee! Bugsy Mcgraw vs Scott McGee McGee's superior technical skill gives him several openings but ultimately Mcgraw's size power & viciousness give him the edge & the win via a standing splash. Commercial-Boyd Pierce runs down the Mid-South Mississippi touring schedule for the coming week. RB: This tag team match is set for one fall with a 15 minute time limit. In the red corner from the Gameroom weighing 220 lbs Checkmate... his partner from Beyond the light The Shadow ...and in the blue corner from Greensboro North Carolina 224 lbs "Sweet" Stan Lane...and his partner from Tampa Florida weighing 215 lbs Steve Keirn! Checkmate & The Shadow vs "Sweet" Stan Lane & Steve Keirn The main purpose is to show off Lane & Keirn's improving teamwork & high speed offense. This & their good looks endears them to the crowd (particularly the young ladies) The win comes when they send Shadow into the ropes & when he comes back Keirn doubles him over with a kneeling punch to the gut allowing Lane to come off the other side with a sunsetflip for the 1..2..3 In a post match promo Lane & Keirn promise to continue improving until they capture tag team gold. Commercial-Promo for the Superdome Extravaganza. RB: This match is set for one fall with a 15 minute time limit. In the red corner from Blacksburg Virginia weighing 270 lbs, Sir Oliver Humperdink presents Bob Roop...and in the blue corner from Roanoke Virginia weighing 218 lbs Ric McCord! Bob Roop w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Ric McCord McCord gets a few hope spots but most of the match is him being utterly dissected by a almost machine like Roop. Throughout the match Humperdink can be heard yelling about "Garvin" eventually Roop slaps on the Double Wristlock for the immediate tapout. As has become the norm the referee has to threaten to reverse the decision for Humperdink to pull his man off McCord who is screaming in utter agony. In a post match promo Humperdink hypes the rematch between Roop & Garvin for the Louisiana Championship now with a 30 minute time limit. He says there's no way some "longhaired sissy" like Garvin could ever go 30 minutes with a Olympic athlete & the Louisiana Championship is as good as theirs. Commercial-Promo for the Superdome Extravaganza. RB: This is our television main event with tv time remaining. In the red corner at a combined weight of 484 lbs, Percy Pringle the 3rd presents "Hangman" Bobby Jagers & "Dirty" Dutch Mantell, The Kansas Jayhawks...and in the blue corner from Charlotte North Carolina weighing 280 lbs Junkyard Dog & his partner from Waxahachie Texas weighing 288 lbs "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch! The Kansas Jayhawks vs Junkyard Dog & "Captain Redneck" Dick Murdoch The announcer's hype this as a rematch from the first round of the Tag Title Tournament. The Jayhawks are extra aggressive tonight looking to avenge their loss. The result is a all out brawl that threatens to be thrown out more than once. The end comes as we're approaching the end of tv time and all four men are in the ring (again) only this time the referee can't restore order & is shoved to the matt as he attempts to separate Murdoch & Jagers. He calls for the bell. Upset & figuring that the match is over anyway Pringle gestures to the back summoning KILLER KHAN! Pringle's monster storms the ring as Boyd Pierce frantically explains they're out of time but promises to show what happens next week! In action next week: "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel, Don Diamond, Black Dynamite, "All Night" Norvell Austin. Main Event: Mississippi Championship. Killer Khan(c) w/Percy Pringle the 3rd vs Mr Olympia
  15. Georgia shows impressive multi-tasking skills hyping The Final Battle & Tomorrow's show at the Omni.
  16. The Shiek is here & his Triad of Terror & they waste no time causing chaos as they interject themselves into the main event targeting Tito. The Final Battle is upon us! Best of 7 to determine territorial dominance capped off with Flair/Piper for the World Title!
  17. Vin Man helps his trio get a big win over their rivals. Now that's family! Ox aides his Beasts claim first blood over The Golden Boys. Snuka & Dream Machine go to a draw. Hopefully Labor day will prove more conclusive. First The Union go too far against Soviet Steel but then they beat down The Olympians! You've done such a great job with this midcard three-way tag feud. Such a inventive finish to the TV Title match. Valiant tricks the ref into calling a draw. Horner certainly has claim on a rematch. Great show from the Garden.
  18. Western States Wrestling Live Events 9/1/86 City Auditorium, Colorado Springs, CO 9/3/86 Agriculture Palace, Pueblo, CO "Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan defeats A local talent with a Double Stomp. The Fort Bragg Brotherhood defeat The Super Destroyers when Kernodle pins Super Destroyer #1 with a neckbreaker. 20. First the TV show. Classic squash/promo combo by Khan & Humperdink sets the stage for the Mongolian stretcher match against Fujinami. A fire promo by The Bullet as he vows to rid CCW of Tommy Rich once and for all! A couple of hot segments hype the four-way for a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Tommy's first promo back shows he's still the same old scumbag we've come to know & hate. Kinda had a point about the show being pre-taped meaning they didn't HAVE to show Peggy getting piledriven though. Dark Journey names her team (Electric Blondes ,nice) & gets Spoiler a Continental Championship match. Dream & Magnum hype the two biggest matches at Beach Brawl. Luscious + Solie = Gold! But seriously Gordon might wanna try harder, Man's starting to sound impatient. RPG distracts(?) Budro allowing Stubbs to score a sick DDT on concrete! Dark Journey's man Oliver wins big in the main event with a little help of course. On to Dothan. Spoiler looking good going into his big title shot. Surf's Up may have a upside but they're not ready for the Rich cousins. The first PleasureDome goes off as planned with a bit of help. Can't blame the ref getting distracted by Woman though. The U.S Jr Heavyweight title match ends in chaos as everyone but Peggy gets involved. The Highwaymen are going for the gold at Beach Brawl! 2 knees to the throat! Fujinami DEFINITELY needed that stretcher! The Electric Blondes take T&Z to the time limit earning themselves another shot perhaps? I wasn't aware Stubbs had family in Russia. But seriously a major pin for "Mr Continental" Glad you're feeling better.

  23. Seems Medusa needed her Monsters more than she thought. The reign of McIntyre begins! Mitchell may be free of Perdue but she may have a future with Devine. The trios champs retain for now but Combs had better pull it together or they may not be so lucky next time.
  24. Busiek gets a major win over Hart's oriental assassain. Easy Ed out-fights Taylor in a absolute slugfest. Brickhouse winds Hall up then turns him lose on Los Guerreros. Love it!
