Listening to the Observer Radio from earlier this week, knowing Dave has fallen asleep on the radio show makes me feel better about myself when falling asleep during the Wrestling Viewing Parties with Kris and Johnny.

What are you talking about, Matt?

Yeah, those Mysterio masks were at every show. When you look at the run Mysterio had from 2002-2011 as a regular performer with those masks, he sold a shitload. From 2011 on and maybe even before that, Punk T-shirts covered a huge part of the crowd. I don't think Jericho ever had a t-shirt as popular as the least popular Punk shirt.

He'll probably be billed in the top 5 or 6 in the movie. He is one of The Guardians of the Galaxy. Here's a serious question then, since the movie opens in August, is there a way they can turn him around by then? Not necessarily at Mania, but at least a month or two before it opens? It would be easy enough to turn him. Have him save Bryan from a beat down from HHH and friends. Set up a match with Batista/Partner of his choice against HHH/who ever. Batista announces his partner as the most talented person in the business . Bryan walks out. Batista gets Bryab's rub. He's now getting cheered because he's positioned right. Not percieves as stealing someone's spot. This only works if Batista isn't the champ. Bryan has to be the champ. If they played their cards right, they have Bryan win the title at Mania. You have Batista win the title from Bryan at Money In the Bank or the June PPV. Batista alluded to being the real hero the fans should cheer last night on SD!. This is clearly a reference to his movie. Batista is champ during the movie hype (released August 1st), and Bryan can win the title back at Summerslam.

Just finished watching the Batista-DB exchange and DB responded with taking shots at Batista's skinny jeans, sunglasses indoors, belly button tattoos and whatnot. They may be turning the corner on letting people get over on him verbally.

EDIT: this is in response to Johnny THE MARINE 3 Sorrow, not Steve Rogers. Your drunken 70 year old WOOOOOs that cause Jim Ross to get fired after video game press conferences have no effect on me. Your impassioned rant and 20 minute soliloquy on the issue during our conversation can only lead one to believe that you have the Miz action figure, Awesome T-shirt and an autographed copy of The Marine 3. It's the only rational conclusion. You also left out the part where guys like Michael Hayes were criticizing... Wait for it... PUNK on his own DVD. So it's ok to criticize Punk on his own DVD but Punk can't criticize somebody? This Miz was probably just reading script off a TelePrompter when doing the Punk DVD. It could have been a DvD for the Warlord or Rikishi and he would have said the same exact shit... Like the good WWE robot that he is... Which is Punk's point... You also ignored Punk's actual criticism of the Miz which was that the Miz wasn't at the level to main event Wrestlemania. However he is great at being the WWE wind up robot whenever they need him to be. History has proven this to be true. Also, Punk's behavior was perfectly acceptable because he was right. As for DVDs, he didn't even include the bus tour on the DVD version. My stuff is stuck on Blu-Ray only.

Holy Shit... watch Adam Rose!!!! Russell Brand meets Adrian Street as it was described to me. So, so awesome!!!

My live feed has frozen up like 3 times since I started watching Main Event.

Watching the Main Event Replay while waiting for NXT and Daniel Bryan continues to be the only guy in the world to get anything good out of Kane.

I haven't watched the network on a consistent basis since last Thursday's NXT special. I have watched some Marc Mero matches (that I already own) and skimmed through some of the newer content released but it still really bugs me that they have no rhyme or reason on what is airing. If I am a fan of Old School, I should be able to expect the new (old) MSG shows are aired at 7:00 on a Saturday night. If new WCCW shows are airing, I want to see them air every Tuesday at 4 or 5 pm. It's all way too random for my tastes right now. The only "random" part I like are the commercials and skits they roll out to kill time until the top of the hour.

Bro, we discussed the about 5 times after you watched the Punk DVD and how pissed you were that Punk would besmirch the good name of lifelong wrestling fan Miz!!! It was the only thing you could talk about from the entire DVD. It isn't a matter of being the only one. We can make lists for Rey and Jericho similar to the one I made for Punk.

When talking to him personally, Punk wasn't satisfied with being a Top 5 player and that is an actual admirable trait to have in that warped business. It is the single biggest argument I have with with Johnny Sorrow regarding Punk. Sorrow has told me numerous times that Punk should shut the fuck up, collect his million dollar check and enjoy the creative decisions that WWE made for him. Punk's mentality was that if you left him the fuck alone and let him create his own shit, it would be much better than what creative had for him. If it involved the belt, Punk was comfortable enough as a heel or face that he could be the guy driving creative for the World Title as well. What if Taker doesn't bury Punk because he disrespected The Men's Wearhouse? How big does Punk get if he actually got over on the Undertaker without a fluke? What if the Straight Edge Jesus gimmick is allowed to peak at a big show like Summerslam or Mania while laying waste to WWE in a similar fashion to how the Shield were laying waste? What if they went with Cena-Punk at Mania instead of Cena-Miz? Does anyone think the main event would not have improved ten-fold besides Johnny Sorrow who loves Miz? What if HHH and Nash never get involved in the pipe bomb business and Punk disappears for a month with Rey and Cena (your top two merch drivers and Rey was a rating mover) feuding over the interim belt until Punk comes back after a month of cool, social media, random appearance, guerilla warfare shit? This wouldn't be a couple of cool nights in 2011, this would be one of the greatest runs in WWE history and that isn't lost on Punk. I have talked with him about once every two months for the last 4 years. Sometimes more, sometimes less. He wasn't always miserable. However, each missed opportunity or stupid booking decision wasn't taken lying down. It pissed him off because he saw dollar signs for the business (and for him too) floating away. I agree completely. If he never enters the public eye again, he will become larger than life but if he returns, he loses a bit of the mystery that intrigues people.

I will say this... if a match is already in the yearbook folder, no reason to start a new thread to talk about the exact same match. If it is a match from 1990-1997 we need to revisit, this forum would be great for that. If it is a match that Loss feels should be included in the yearbook forum, we will move the match over there if it warrants moving.

Man, you can't give that abortion at the end of Summerslam an official match. (I know you have to but it just seems so wrong). Fuck that, in my mind... Bryan and Cesaro are officially tied.

Johnny B Badd / Marc Mero... Time to Revisit his Career
goodhelmet replied to goodhelmet's topic in The Microscope
I know there were at least a few Regal vs Badd matches. How are they? We reviewed them on a couple of P2B podcasts when we reviewed 1994 PPVs. Nobody had anything bad to say about any of them. Great series. -
What was the "main event" of Beach Blast 92?
goodhelmet replied to Dylan Waco's topic in Pro Wrestling
Hah! I have to look at the box for GAB 2000... Sting vs. Vampiro is on the box when the Jarrett vs. Nash match with the Goldberg heel turn was the main event draw. BATB has Hogan and Booker T on the cover. The main was supposed to be Hogan vs. Jarrett. Hell, they should have put Vince Russo on the cover. WCW... a fucking joke. -
Love for Paul Bearer was pretty strong when he died from outside of wrestling. Only three people can induct him... Michael Hayes, Kane or Undertaker.

I don't like going by the video box because that is post-PPV when they know what matches paid off. If the ads had Steamboat-Rude as the main, no reason to disagree. -
Punk will ultimately be seen as potential unfulfilled throughout his entire WWE run... Wen he was rising as the antithesis to Jeff Hardy, he was getting legitimate heat. Then they had to put him in his place and let Taker bring him down a few notches. Momentum killed. He forms the Straight Edge Society, does the cult leader shtick and generated legitimate "I hate you" heat. The hair shaving segments were great, the Mysterio feud was great and the idea of having a Straight Edge Freebirds was really appealing. so many paths they could have gone with this but cut short. Then Punk does commentary recovering from his hip injury. Out of nowhere in December of 2010, he levels Cena with a chair on RAW and does it again at SD that I attended live. That could have been the launching point for Punk to meet Cena at Mania and it would have been a much better outcome than the Miz feud. Then we have the leader of the Nexus which nowhere and made no sense. Then the pipe bomb promo and Money In the Bank. This leads to the aborted Nash feud and the HHH match leading to a year of playing second fiddle to Cena and Johnny Ace and Kane. This leads to an illogical heel turn although Punk with Heyman was pretty awesome as a duo. He has the belt forever but rarely gets top billing. He loses the belt, feuds with Heyman in some backward booking where he conquers the Beast Lesnar first leading to a feud with CURTIS AXEL!!! These are all missed opportunities, woulda coulda shoulda. In the end, if you examine Punk in the WWE, that is what we are left with.

Johnny B Badd / Marc Mero... Time to Revisit his Career
goodhelmet replied to goodhelmet's topic in The Microscope
I think he did have a similar appearance to Little Richard so I don't think it was similar to blackface at all. More like a queen dressing up as Madonna or Liza Minelli.
