  1. Also, why are guys like Alan or John Lister or Dave Musgrave qualified to vote for the Rock N Roll or Murdoch? Why is anybody but Jose allowed to vote for the luchadores? Why is anyone younger than jdw qualified to vote for the 1970s guys? This just doesn't make sense.
  2. http://placetobenation.com/good-will-wrest...wwe-tv-network/ Will is joined by Chris Harrington (www.indeedwrestling.com), David Bixenspan (bleacherreport.com), Keith Harris (cagesideseats.com) and his buddy Kris Zellner to discuss the upcoming WWE Network. The panel looks back on WWE’s history of television deals, the obstacles and advantages a new network would create, and we come up with some possible programming ideas. An insightful and fun two hours!!!!
  3. Well, he does make a good point... think of the millions of people reading the Bible.

    Current WWE

Did Ryback really use the Jackhammer on RAW this week... and lose?
  5. Just read it. I don't know what the fuck to say. By hey, Abdullah vs. Brody rom Puerto Rico was supposed to be good.
  6. Also Tony Garea has been awesome so far when watching matches for the 80s WWF redo.
  7. Haha haterrr. Dynamite Kid: best pound for pound wrestler of all time.(Jk but I think Bret Hart has made this assertion) What can I say, I still love those Kid/Mask matches just like when I first saw them on tape over a decade ago. Can you explain the hate for him? He's just so impressive to me. His look, his speed, his stiff style. And how bout the 1982 MSG match they had, compared to most of the horseshit on WWF shows(I dunno, Tony Garea matches?) That fight was just an awesome alternative. Man, you are late to the party but we explored the DK- Tiger Mask feud in the DVDVR 1980s New Japan project a few years back. I would link to the old threads but the old board is dead and gone. Anyway, we were in agreement that it's a shame those matches are revered when there was so much better junior stuff going on around those two especially from Tatsumi Fujinami who Dynamiye actually had his best match with. I like Dynamite more than guys like Phil and Dylan but compared to stuff happening at the same time the feud was inferior in almost every way except for maybe speed. Childs watched every single NJ match available from the 80s and can probably articulate why DK vs. TM sucks so bad including the botched spots, the complete lack of psychology, tendency to work hard but not work smart.
  8. Also, there are some crowds that want something different from their wrestling. I was there live surrounded by a really hot crowd for the Meltzer Five Star Richards vs Elgin match. The hot crowd marking out over no sold top rope tiger suplexes didn't increase my enjoyment of the match. I have watched tons of quiet PWFG and Battlarts and Futen matches. Doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the matches. Hell, half the time I have to watch my wrestling with the volume turned down anyway because of my work or my wife sleeping.
  9. Before I listen, did that commie Canadian Musgrave vote for Dick Murdoch?
  10. I am in the middle of the 4th disc and he is in 2 of my top 3 singles matches so far. The MS1 match is a clear #1 but I have the Villano III match as my current working #3. The guy is like the Dick Murdoch of Mexico and I mean that as the highest possible compliment.
  11. But does a hot crowd enhance your enjoyment? It does for me. I think if the combatants have a hot crowd it could enhance their own performance through the adrenaline of realizing that what they are doing has connected with the people they are wrestling in front of. As such, the two entities (wrestlers having the match and the crowd watching it) feed off of each other. It can but it isn't mandatory.
  12. That's the only place that footage exists.
  13. Fuck, I did the exact same thing.
  14. Doesn't sound high on either as candidates right now Bryan is surprising to me what with his WON credentials. Most Outstanding 5 years in a row. Best technical 8 years in a row! A WON MOTY (v. Morishima, 2007). If these awards matter at all shouldn't he be a virtual lock when he hits the ballot in 2016? Similarly Punk has 2 matches rated ***** by Meltzer (with Joe in ROH, MITB 11 with Cena), which is pretty rare for modern North American wrestling. And unlike Bryan he's had a 2+ year stretch of being a top headliner, 3 PPV main events in 09, and the longest WWE title reign since Hogan. Doing a glance at Meltzer's star ratings in recent years (09-13) and Punk and Bryan consistently show up among his highest rated WWE matches, where getting ****+ is rare. Not to mention all the snowflakes he threw at them in ROH. Now, I wouldn't vote for either til further down the road as Bryan should have many more years ahead of him, and Punk may or may not. But Dave doesn't have that issue with some candidates (Tanahashi) who are heavily pimped on work (and I know the argument is also that Tanahashi is a big draw now, but I remain on the fence a bit) so I found his "wait and see" stance on these two a bit puzzling. Especially on Bryan with how heavily decorated he is in Observer awards. I cosidered maybe that Dave is looking at Edge, someone he supports and always rated highty, not getting in and thinking, "these two haven't done close to as much as them in modern WWE, so the bar is set," possibly? As well as Batista and Jeff Hardy falling off the ballot so quickly? We know it's practically impossible to prove almost anyone but Cena and attitude era names a draw in WWE over the last decade, because they push one guy as THE guy and the rest is the brand. Is this a topic worthy of it's own debate? There's already enough stuff going on in here I thought I thought it should be separate from the 2013 stuff As a member, you should be able to start threads. Hell, we let vonKramer start threads all the time.
  15. I don't care if the crowd enjoyed it. I care if I enjoy it.
  16. Goddamn... The Chiefs go 9-0 and Brick comes out of the woodwork. As someone who appreciates your photoshop skills in making Harley Race appear throughout the most iconic moments in history, you deserve a ballot.
  17. I was paying attention, specifically when it was brought up that he was highly regarded as a worker. And if being a scumbag were an absolute disqualifier, Carlos Colon wouldn't be knocking on the door every year. Colon is a completely different animal. One, he was a promoter, owner of the company and the #1 ace of the island. It would be like combinng Don Owen and Buddy Rose into one. Also, I don't knew of any historic record of Colon being known as a great worker. Also, the Colon being a scumbag comes down to the fallout over Brody's death. There is a split between those who hold it against him and those who don't when voting.
  18. At the niche website DVDVR, I am curious how Tanahashi's matches faired in Ditch's Japan polls.
  19. He wasn't highly regarded by his peers if you were paying attention. He was thought of as a scumbag. That point has already been made. I'll respond to your other point later.
  20. This! It wasn't misguided at all. It was a direct response to something said in the thread to demonstrate that Rose as a great worker isn't a PWO revelation.
  21. I'll second this. As an aside - where is the goodhelmut hall? Is there a physical location on the internet for this? Can we build it? It is only in my mind. You can't build that which cannot be torn down.
  22. Satanico is in the third wave.

  24. Fuck you... The goodhelmet hall is already established.
  25. Among those who worked with Buddy Rose, he IS universally acknowledged as one of the great wrestlers. He is also acknowledged to be one of the biggest assholes who ever entered the business by those same people. It was confirmed that at least one voter in the business refused to vote for him based on his reputation backstage and not on his abilities as a wrestler or his drawing ability. In fact, said person had never met Buddy, just heard stories. That was enough.
