  2. I thought you had a DVD burner... or at least DVD to DVD capabilities?
  3. Not everyone has the time, cash, or hookups to obtain the quality you're speaking of. Dude, I had about 100 total DVDs around May. It only took a couple of bulk buys and acquiring a DVD burner (which costs about the price of 4-5 WWE DVDs) to kickstart my collection into overdrive. I now have close to 1300 DVDs. I am not saying everyone can buildup that quickly but through my trading and hustling, I have discovered that almost anything can be obtained easily in great VQ. You just have to spend some time to look around. "Stop watching" is easy. I never missed a Monday night wrestling show for close to 6 years... even when I was on vacation. THen in early 2002, I had enough and never looked back. Being a wrestling fan does not equate to being a WWE fan.
  4. For those who want to know...
  5. Read those above spoilers and tell me this isn't a WCW PPV.
  6. Been confirmed by Meltz and merged with other thread
  7. Yeah but the Sur Series match, if I am not mistaken, had both partners eliminated if one of them lost.
  8. NO, it isn't like a Rumble. Basically, it is an 8 on 8 tag match. You can tag a guy out or if you leave the ring (which happens often in lucha matches), another participant can come in. Therefore, you can have 8 mini matches to establish the character of each wrestler before ANYONE is eliminated. Then you get to the meat of the match with guys getting eliminated one-by-one. Finally you hit the stretch run with the "stars" of the match. It can easily surpass an hour, and if done right, can feel like 20 minutes.
  9. Um... not if it is an elmination match with 16 wrestlers.
  10. Well, actually it makes sense if you have been watching for any amount of time. If a segment sucks, you go away from the channel. If they announce someone is coming up while flipping the channels (which I have done), you make sure you stick around. You're right that you can't foreshadow when someone will be on unless you have net and spoiler access BUT if I am flipping the channels and see a segment that makes me put the remote down then I can see why they would jump.
  11. Well, if 2 guys can hold my interest for an hour then I don't see why 16 can't do enough to make it interesting for a little bit longer than that. Plus, I believe this was a cibernetico match where the rules are a little different. You may be completely right and this may be a waste of time but I am not going to let the length deter me from watching it.
  12. You know, I feel stupid but it wasn't until my nephew's graduation this last year that I realized that the "Graduation Song" and Randy Savage's theme song were one in the same.
  13. I can type it up later. The gist was that just because it is spot-fu or whatever does not mean it isn't wrestling. Wrestling is what the public says it is. Dave says just because he hates flaming table shit it is still a form of wrestling.
  14. Does Tim count as official? ") I don't really think they will be banning anyone anytime soon the way things have gone with distribution. I still intend to turn in a ballot and the deadline has been postponed indefinitely so I will motivate myself at some point to continue watching.
  15. OK, I thought it was a general list, not a list divided into different categories.
  16. The only real problem with this list... as with any list that names wrestlers is that the Top 5 are usually never in doubt. If we mixed in Japanese wrestlers, would they get a fair shake by those who don't like Japanese wrestling or have never been exposed to it? What about the countless luchadores that I have heard great things about but have never seen footage of? We can do it for fun but it would probably end up as another list in a long line of them filled with asterisks and inaccuracies. Sorry to be such a bummer.
  17. Actually, the opposite is true in my case. I don't really look forward to watching 15 Hulk Hogan matches. Savage, Steamboat, Jake the Snake, Mr. Perfect, etc. Been there, done that. Knowing that there is no Adonis or Backlund to look forward to is bumming me out.
  18. Exactly. For example... they asked Piper if he thought Bret was the best technical wrestler he ever faced and he said , "No, that would be Bob Orton Jr.". Then the idea was to disprove Bret's assettion that he was the best there ever was... and piddly shit like that.
  19. I gotta hear more about the "lucha eyes" argument.
  20. That's kind of my point JHawk. If you can pick up the best matches through a comp or tape it and watch with a fast forward button handy, I could understand. Still, everytime I have tried to sit through a full episode of RAW or SD! I feel like I am being tortured.
  21. Thanks to cawthon for posting this at Smarkschoice so I didn't have to type it out From the WO:
  22. I don;t know if I watched too many matches in such a short time or what, but I really don't feel like going past 1984 in this WWF ballot.
  23. - What is your favorite singles match? --- Right now, my favorite singles match is Magnum-Nikita Match #7. I know this is nowhere near the best matches I have ever seen but in my attempt to compile a Magnum TA comp, I am loving the hell out of this feud. - What is your favorite tag team (2 teams of 2) match? --- It still remains 6-9-95. - What is your favorite multi-person (2 teams of 3 or more on each side) match? --- Wargames 87. - What is your favorite type of wrestling? --- Man, I think this crosses over with favorite promotion and era since I would have to say 1990s All Japan. THen again, I am addicted to 80s NWA right now. - What is your favorite angle of all time? --- The NWO in 96-97. It singlehandedly made me start watching wrestling again after a 6/7 year hiatus. - Who is a wrestler you found to like because of the internet? --- Kawada, Kobashi, Misawa, Baba, Destroyer, Jumbo, Liger, Adonis, Backlund, Samoa Joe. I know these guys exist because of the internet. With the WWF guys, I didn't care for them as children and pimping on the net made me look for more of their stuff. - WCW or WWF 1996-1998? --- You know, my knee jerk reaction is to say WCW but I am still bitter that they screwed that company up. On the other hand, while I shunned WWF at the time, I am loving the hell out of the WWF comps that Some Guy made me from this time. - Do you like Lucha Libre? Why? --- Of course. I like the fluidity of the movement. I like the different paradigms in which it operates. I love the history of the mask and how these guys were viewed as super heroes. Man... lucha rules. - If you could book a "Super Show" card with 3 matches with a guarantee to draw a huge crowd and maintain monster heat the whole night, what would it be? ---- If my goal is to make money, then I book the following... MAIN: Andre-Hogan SEMI MAIN: Atlantis-Villano3 SEMI MAIN: Hashimoto-Takada I make it an international card and attempt to book the matches that would resonate with the public from all three countries. Now, where to hold it?
  24. Yeah, and then you have people like me who were loyal Monday Night wrestling viewers for years who don't watch on Monday nights anymore. In fact, I turned out in early 2002 watching dog skits. I can only imagine what I would have thought of a Katie Vick skit or this BS. Seriously, why do you guys watch this stuff? In the hopes of getting a good match? Maybe... just maybe you'll hear a great promo?
