  1. I don't know if Goldberg should be doing pensive sit-down interviews using lame analogies. He should be a man of action, not words. Which was also a problem with the police angle last week. You don't really want to "pull back the mask" on Goldberg. He should show up, kick ass, and leave.
  2. I liked the outside stuff, I'm sort of really into good garbage matches at the moment in general, but yes it did feel odd coming right after a mat-based limb work opening segment. Overall I feel like this match would've been better if they started off quicker and transitioned almost immediately into the dives and crowd brawling stuff and then moved on to the bomb throwing ending, cutting out the opening portion which was solid enough but whjich I wouldn't have missed. The end stretch was fun but man those Kuroda lariats at the end were way too obviously thrown with the explicit intent of not hitting. Hayabusa landing on his feet off the springboard moonsault to the outside was a cool spot too. Good match.
  3. Is this the single best segment the Attitude Era produced? Absolutely classic stuff. The match itself was better than I remember it from last watching. Nothing mind blowing but it was all action, some neat moments and had a hot crowd and felt like a big deal. Rock and Mankind have a cool dynamic, them having a world title feud really feels fresh at this point to me. The ending makes this one of the best title changes of all time. Post match is great too. Really fantastic overall segment that could hardly be any better.
  4. I'm not really all that familiar with how this angle played out but decontextualized this was a cool spectacle. Ogawa bursting on the scene by murdering the top star in unprecedented fashion and then celebrating by pretending to be an airplane was something else though.
  5. Oh hey I don't know how I posted that comment in the wrong thread! But to comment on the correct segment now. I wasn't watching during this time so I am interested to see what the aftermath of this is like. We know the consequences but I have to say, after watching the last decade of WWE ANYTHING with this kind of crowd response is going to look like a cool angle no matter how dumb it is in context. Nash's absurd entrance is the best. And why are they having him walk out with Hall before the real turn? Isn't the idea supposed to be that he doesn't approve of Hall's involvement at Starrcade since he's supposed to still be a face?
  6. There was some cool stuff in this match but it went too long and struggled to hold my attention over the whole span. Too lacking in direction or structure and the work wasn't enough to make up for it, got meandering at times. The blitz of big offense at the end for Tencozy was cool.

  8. Yeah, how do you anger 40-50 year old men that refuse to spend money? I guess that's where the feminist heel comes in!
  9. I wish they somehow would've worked an Orton interference into that as well as the Sting debut. Crowd would've went nuts for Orton tonight.
  10. I wasn't too bothered about String but that entrance was fucking awesome. This was definitely the best Survivor Series tag ever, right?
  11. Heel Cena vs. Face Orton coming up!
  12. So there are tweets about all signs being confiscated? What's with that?
  13. Man I couldn't care less about Wyatt/Dean, which is a real indictment. Especially considering they had a damn good match on Smackdown a couple months ago.
  14. Henry's reactions and expressions really make these segments. This was fun, mostly thanks to that. I don't mind this angle at all.
  15. This match was better than I expected overall. It also had a great big match and a really hot crowd. The few minutes before the end they did seem to be running out of stream but the opening stuff was well put together, simple but effective, and got a very strong reaction and got over the match as a big clash of titans affair. Ending is a legendary blunder but the crowd sure exploded for it. The fake taser is really silly, but hey, at least we know the guy with the cardboard "re-form the outsiders" sign had a great time. I do wonder how much value Goldberg really should have lost in this. I think there's still a lot of value in a guy who is very rarely defeated even if he's not on a big undefeated streak.
  16. Triple threat was fun stuff but went on beyond the point where it ran out of steam. The Eddie shenanigans brought it back to life though and I liked the ending. Eddie/Kidman was very good and I liked the improptu match angle, PPVs should throw curveballs like that more often. Eddie was great throughout all of this and this was a very strong overall segment to start the PPV.
  17. Liger and JR in the booth would be pretty awesome/surreal.
  18. Man, I can't wait to rewatch this. In 99 I had just started watching and for some reason my favorite guy was fucking TEST. I was all about Test for whatever reason. Vince had stacked the deck against Triple H for this match and I was so sure Test was gonna be the champion, I was actually incredibly happy knowing that that's how RAW MUST end tonight. Then this, man was I bummed. One of my most vivid memories of my early watching.
  19. Amazing segment. I'm beyond burned out with Jericho as he's related to the current product but 1998 Chris Jericho is brilliant.
  20. Flair's wild promo was great but the heart attack angle was silly. It was an interesting transition into the Bigelow/Nash/Goldberg stuff though. It continues to be a very interesting dynamic and I really want to see Bigelow/Goldberg. They probably should've made Starrcade a triple threat and had Nash pinning Goldberg if Nash HAD to go over.
  21. Awful stuff again for this feud. I didn't find Mankind/Rock all that offensive but this was just awful. The backhoe thing was cheesy and took way too long. The Kane involvement was lame too. The crowd still pops big post-match for Austin getting out the beer. That's all they want, WWF doesn't need to do this over-produced nonsense.
  22. Ending is terrible. This feud blows. Since it's know that Austin vetoed a lot of stuff he didn't like, if something like this made it on TV imagine what got left out.
  23. Seems like a pointless swerve just to have a swerve, but at least it got a big reaction.
  24. Incredible match. The opening work is off the charts with Vader and Hansen as killers and Kobashi and Akiyama getting in some brief flurriers of offense, sometimes against both at once, before being shut down. The suplex teases are really well done too. Any of the runs of offense Kobashi or Akiyama get on the heels is just amazing, especially a comeback where they go after Vader's legs but is shut down and, awesomely, ends with Vader limping into a big splash onto Kobashi. The control stuff by Vader and Hansen somewhat lags in comparison, but just in comparison -- work work is still great. The finish is really one of the coolest ones I've ever seen, Akiyama had been out of the match for some time and after sustaining huge damage it looked like Kobashi was facing the kill shot, but Akiyama comes off the top to elbow Hansen in the back of the head as Hansen is preparing for the lariat and Kobashi fires off a big lariat of his own. The camera angle was great too: you could see Akiyama setting up for the elbow but Kobashi capitalizing with the lariat still came as a surprise. Definite MOTYC.
